  • My 13YO son has been having lessons on non-competitive exercise at school from a Govt. organisation- running, jumping, gym- all good stuff.

However, one ‘weird’ guy came in & took them out on a run last month. Half way round, he stopped encouraging the backmarkers, came up from behind each runner screaming “Eat s**t & die, LOSER!!”, then ran out triumphantly in the ‘lead’, running further & further out into the distance. He didn’t return to the school & hasn’t been seen since…

  • Thank you. I'm a newbie and find the explanation of the angle, hip stability, and the distance the knee goes up very helpful. I already have the arms right - Yaaaayyy!! :-D Check out my first running video folks, if you want to maximise efficiency with your fingers.

  • Okay now youtube teach people to run

  • I tried the sprinting this way... I fell.

  • Hey uh I used to be a sprinter but now I've got this condition called a bone spur and arthritis in my left big toe joint limiting my range of motion greatly. If I keep trying to sprint will this condition go away? It's really hampering my running I can't run nearly as fast as I used to be able to do. I'm only 16 is this normal for someone my age?

  • @julsmul no... if you have arthritis thats bad for a young person in my thoughts most old people have arthritis never heard a 16 year old have one

  • @phillyeagles95 you sure know how to make me feel good. It's the beginning stages of arthritis because I apperantly cracked the cartilage of my toe when I stubbed it badly. The bone spur is hereditary.

  • @julsmul ask your doctor

  • dude...you told us to "relax" in the long and middle distance running and not leaning the head to the left or right, but explain HOW EMIL ZATOPECK won all of his running competition?

and this technics are not effective.

the only way to do a better run is running!

  • Sorry mate.....not effective!

Just run.......the more you try it, the better you get...BASIC. The human mbody is so clever, it will adjust, it will shed weight, because you are telling it to run! Just run!

  • please help !!!

next year i have a race

so i gotta keep practising already

so give me some tips or something!!

  • I think KingJoeKong meant JUST DO IT!

  • @KingJoeKong thats the best thing ive learned today.thank you for that comment.i will try to follow that ASAP!!

  • "If somthing's hard doing it's not worth doing" - Homer Simpson. LOL

  • woah those closed captions were a little off on the timing, LOL

  • so you dont no much about long distance running then, no wall tips for me then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf is there a block of text. i can't see shit.

  • wtf dude !! 138685 videos ? D:

nice waste of life :) gud gud !

  • as a kid i used to run all day just like this. but upright. ran on my toes. long or short distance. height of knees varied. short distances they came up to my waist.

  • crap i got track today

  • You have to train both your body and mind if its a really long distance.

  • we can't see with the writting --dickhead- move the print

  • why would you train using your arms for stablization? then when it comes to actually applying this training to the real run your arms cant stablize you so you actually trained your body without training the key stablizers in balance? does that sound right to anybody else?

  • Stretching before running is bad for the stability.

  • You are stupid.

  • pulling muscles is bad for running.

  • @schwanzenegger why is stretching before running bad for the stability?

  • @hellspy muscles are still cold. Get the blood pumping before you start tearing and stretching your body

  • other way around. dude when i was 14 i did summer weightlifting, and ever since, ive been addicted to health. the next summer i did it too and got real strong. and this year i joined the cross country team. get familiar with weight lifting, then do a 20 to 60 min run after about an hour workout. btw stretch too. i stretch mostly before and after i run. it feels amazing. your whole body just feels light and strong, like steel feather. and drink protein after u work out. it helps sooooo much.

  • well i used to be out of shape too, but try starting lower, say run a 10 minute mile first, or maybe even slower if u need to and eventually youll get used to it and be able to run faster at a long period of time

  • doesn't really care when you start jogging/go to the gym. just eat at minimum half an hour before jogging/working out.

  • i find it hard to start my running workout, say waking up at 7 am and start arouind 7:30 am, but once i get to that 2nd mile, i can keep going, for me the real battle is getting out of bed, putting on your shoes and running the first few hundred meters

  • I find I'm always stiff in the morning. About 3 minutes of simple stretching gets my legs fluid and energetic. Apart from that I get light back pain, cramps, the whole shebang. Another tip is after getting up I find a 10 minute walk about the house to get ready lets my body know it has to prepare itself soon. If I just woke up, threw on my gear and went running 5 minutes later I'd give up within minutes. You gotta let your body wake up.

  • yes thats true, wait at leas an hour, dont go out just after walking up, especially if it only 5mins after getting up.

  • as long as u take a good 5-10 minutes to stretch really good before you run, u should be fine, and make sure to do it after too, cuz it helps get rid of that lactic acid, and it feels sooo good.

  • dude to get out of bed u gotta train your BODY to wake up right when the alarm goes. if you try to wake your mind up then youll just convince urself to just rest "5 more minutes" dont listen to your mind. you gotta let your subconscious take control and get ur body up. then ull be like "Just 5 more minutes" and your body will be like "ok, suit urself, but im getting up now." after one week, of ur feet hitting the floor the second ur alarm goes off, ur body will be trained.

  • nice tip ill try that... i dont know who that was too but thanks... i sometime miss the bus to school because cant get out of bed... i tell myself to get up but my body doesnt want to =D

  • @HotBoxMr Put your alarm on the other side of the room to make yourself get up out of bed to go shut it off. Once you're standing up, you're less likely to want to go back to bed.

  • @HotBoxMr THAN GO RUN !

  • I agree! It has to become an instinct.

  • yes this is also training in the army as well, i used it alot in my training, LOL !! good comment mate

  • @KingJoeKong thanks for this -- it makes sense. I have ADHD and it's really hard for me to get out of bed in the morning but I know if I do what you're suggestion it should work.

  • @KingJoeKong Thank you.

  • @KingJoeKong I never thought of it that way before.. You're right though! Thanks.

  • @KingJoeKong -.- i do that with simple self control.i dont do what my mind or body says i do what i want much more simple

  • @KingJoeKong you rock

  • @KingJoeKong yep.

  • @KingJoeKong But I want my 5 minutes...

  • @KingJoeKong dude, your comment got like mannnn, a whole boat load of thumbs up... like far out..... i'm hittin da snoooze..

  • @KingJoeKong that "Just 5 more minutes" is a killing

i miss my 8m class everyday

  • "for stability and stabilisation" - thats for clarity and clarification

  • @Niall23 thats just how strength trainers talk. they use like 40 key words all the time, stabilization being on of them.

  • I cant stop laughning! This is the funniest clip ever, its gives me energy in the morning haha

  • Stability and stabilization, both very are important =P

  • having to wait 30 seconds for a youtube video? wat has the world come to?!

  • hey wait a minuite, when he did it slower it looked like he was walking. i thought he was teaching us how to run, i can already walk fine. Another thing, is this lesson for astronauts coz my gym doesnt have the resources for me to propel myself through space.

  • dumb coommmerciallls!!!!!!!!!

  • hey midland stop being an idiot you say that you run a 16:45 when on another video you say you run a 17 something and then you say you run a 4:45 mile and then on another vid you say that you run a 5:13 and last but not least do you even know what grade your in b.c you say a lot of stuff but what seems to be very inconsistent is your jump from 8th grade to being a freshman and also an xc race is 3.1 not 3.2

  • actually its 3.12 =]

  • midland bs

  • i prefer running in my new crox they are well ventilated and the bounce is amazing. reallly unique ride

  • someone speed this up it would be hillarious

  • keeping your knees that high up is definitely not a good idea when running long distance

  • propell me throught SPACE?! cool

  • im going into 8th grade and i can run a 5 min mile and do a 19 min 5k

that guy in the video is rite on it :D

  • I guess with some hard work, you can get faster. a guy your age should be in the low 18s, but i guess if you have just started taking up running, you are quite ahead of other beginners. good work.

  • leg strength and being flexibile help you run faster. and no i am not saying those are the only 2 things. and the guy you are replying too. thats not bad. pretty good especially for a biginner

  • i think it is a good excersise

  • Thank you Les. This video presented a new technique (wall drills), which I am happy to try.

  • you run in flip flops...ohh baad

  • he knows what he is talking about

  • great video on running

  • you wanna create 90 degree angles in bother ur lower leg and upper leg and then ur upper leg to body. it creates more leverage in ur muscles which creates faster speed and also it wastes less energy because your muscles are just being used as leverage

  • its better to use short steps to burn calories long steps waste less energy

  • Is it better to use a long or short stride to burn more fat?

  • burning calories is all about increasing your heart rate. the length of your stride may impact how far you can run, but even running short distances and taking rests inbetween those sprints could burn more calories than a long, slow run.

  • Is it better to use a longer or shorter stride?

  • longer with speed

  • very helpful video. i'm defenitly going to practice this today.

  • I WAnt To Build My Stamina, I Want To Run Everyday But I Will Get To Embarassed, What should i do ?

  • run by night?

  • You Should Stop Capitalizing Every Word Of Your Sentences. Plus, find some friends to run with you, cus if theres a group of like 4 kids running then you dont look dumb you look like pros

  • How do you think I looked on my first taekwondo training? Just do it, or run early morning, late afternoon when there isn't many people out, OR.....If you can, run along a country road or in the forest.

  • why will you be embaresed nyway u cud get a treadmill

  • Comment removed

  • you shouldn't be embarassed, other people will envy you.

  • well, i'm in 8th and i run 10km a day followed by 50km of biking then a night a few hours of sex, with your mom.

  • yeah i'm in eight grade and i just started running too.

  • lol i'm in 10th grade and u just started running

  • im in 3rd grade and i am running a 5k

  • Why do we mention our age? Does it make us look cool. Lol i'm in 8th grade and I'm running how pro am i!?!?!

  • LOL i know right???

  • i tried out for track for the last 4 days. i'm in the 7th grade so i think this will help me and i think i made the team

  • good luck!

  • honestly everybody makes the team in 7th grade. no offense. but keep running in high school, run cross country and run some summer mileage. you'll be a great runner in no time.

  • Je's basicaly telling us to run like complete muppets!

  • This video gets only two things right: keeping your upper body loose and relaxed during running, and maintaining a forward lean from the ankles with your heels slightly off the ground. Where he blew it was telling you to thrust forward with your thighs---that's ok for a short sprint but for distance runnning it's the OPPOSITE of efficient running and will actually lead to injuries.

  • well then what is the correct way to do this exercies for distance running?

  • soft footstrike, initial impact on midfoot or ball of foot, footstrike falls under or slightly behind the body, knees kept slightly bent at all times such that you stand about 2" shorter than normal, forward lean from the ankles (not the waist), imagine there's a bungee cord pulling your sternum at a 30 degree angle towards the ground, pull your feet off the ground rather than push off, most of your muscular exertion should be in your calves and hamstrings not your quads; avoid bouncing.

  • Jeez u r comment has more useful info than the video...thnx

  • thanks cool video

  • Wanna run faster? I tell you what it takes...Balls!
