  • i seriously believe that he's telling the truth. pink floyd didn't take drugs! all of my friends are opposed to that theory, but i don't care...i truly believe the floyd didnt do it. which is ironic because their music is some of the most "trippy" music out there....

  • @jmhall97 I agree with you, there music is very trippy but I still don't think they did drugs & tbh ive never understood why people say you have to be blazed to enjoy their music ive never smoked weed or done any other drug in my life and pink floyd is my favourite band, but I gotta agree with you on that one my freind.

  • @pinkygilmour46

Of course they did drugs. Look at them in interviews, they're kinda slow. You know what I mean.

  • @dizafatslag well I guess so

  • Gilmours only hard drug was really when he was on Cocaine in the late 80's.

  • lol he looks really stoned

  • I am not arguing with you guys, you want proof look up on youtube Roger Waters, Richard Wright interviews on Syd Barrett. Watch "Which Ones Pink" documentary, Read Nick Mason's book. The facts are there, yes they used to smoke weed as seen here, but they didn't dabble into psychedlics as most people believe....it was a myth....

  • um. what he means is that lsd is not a drug, syd barrett got into *drugs* after being into clean lsd and it destroyed him and the band's image.

the whole interview about how the "equipment couldn't control itself" and it "isn't thinking of what to do any of the time" is ABOUT......

how they are the equipment, and lsd is the musician. it is surrender to a higher consciousness with humility rather than one's personal agenda, that's why they sound like one breathing machine.

  • hes so blazed

  • other than Syd the Floyd were not into psychedlics (Acid, mushrooms) as much as everyone thinks. Waters and Mason have admited to never talking LSD.They all smoked pot (but who didn''t then) However Rick has said he only like to take one or two puffs off a joint every now and again it really made him parnoid. They all pretty much stopped doing any drugs in the mid to late 70's, except for Gilmour and Wright who had brief affair with cocaine in the 80's.

  • @Deltarogers you're extremely foolish, you should be embarrassed. lol

    just because the

    Last

    Sunlight

    Disappears

from the world doesn't mean they fell off

what's mind boggling is how people believe this, as if Floyd thought psychedelics were too "heavy" when their fans were eating 250+ mics and sitting in dark rooms listening to them on headphones for hours on end

really? we had more balls at age 14 than Pink Floyd, who made Dark Side of the Moon?? lsd is THE COVER of the album.. duhhh..

  • @Deltarogers yo have to be a moron to think anyone in PINK FLOYD were too paranoid to handle smoking a joint, that;s supposed to be EXTREMELY FUNNY, I mean if you're not a moron.. you think Pink Floyd has the substance-use profile of a 13-year old schoolgirl whose "boyfriend smokes weed but I can't handle it"? WOW.

Even after "Things are not what they seem", "The words had different meaning" and.. ..... "the Last Sunlight Disappears"? and um the film La Valee? ROCLMAO ;)

  • What film is this from?

  • @tteu123 It's from Pink Floyd Live in Pompeii (the Director's Cut). Definitely worth checking out if you love Pink Floyd's early work!

  • he's so fucking stoned haha sly bastard

  • @BeechwoodSilasLang he doesn't look that stoned, and his pupils are not dilated. there are clips of him and Waters in early Trouser Press magazine from '75 where their pupils are bulging out of their eyes and they're sweaty like they're drenched with lsd. you maybe have to be them to discover what.... superhero cartoons were about: LOOKING normal in real life

people are so gullible in both directions.. either they "don't get high" or they're "always high". They were TOO high to be visible.

  • I believe you you bought me alright you son of a bitch

  • His smile at the end reminds me of Neil from the Young Ones.

  • Pink Floyd is universal, being high is still only one angle you can experience them, it certainly isn't the only one.

  • @candymanego yes it most certainly is, much like you have to open your eyes to see. it's hidden music, buried mathematics, deeply woven continuity of phrasing which needs encoding Agents to fully hear, experience and comprehend. don't fool yourself, just be where you are and be comfortable not daring to reach for what they were reaching for. but please don't imagine that you get it, they laugh at people like you, that's what the Wall is about.

  • foda-se

  • can we really trust you david, can we?

  • I never liked drugs when I was a teen in the 80's. I was an alchohol kid., I liked to drink. But whenever I got stoned, it was always Floyd that I ran to!! Listening to The Wall from Start to Finish stoned out of my brain is a good memory!! Especially daves solos!! I brought Animals on cassette to Yosemite in 1987 and it was perfect background music!!

  • @1970michplar yeah as the james hetfield said :

"say no to drugs, more beer!"

  • @pigsontherun As the table said! James Hetfield is the table remember?

  • Drugs are only a ''Plus''!!!

    David's Evil Smile!!! LOL

  • I love that evil smile! hahahahaha Love you, David!

  • Did anyone doubt that, ever?

    Legalise all drugs.

  • yeah ok david lol

  • I trust him. They were so funny in their group interviews. Seriously crack up every time; his face is priceless :).

  • I dunno, Daaaaavey...

  • @zeprock70 lol, have you EVER listened to the kind of things the band wrote about when Syd Barrett was in charge?

  • Comment removed

  • @zeprock70 OK first off David Gilmour said he thinks Syd would have gone crazy regardless of psychedelics and he was on that path any way. And yeah, sure, they probably weren't as heavy users as Syd, but who was? There's a big difference between "uses less drugs than syd barrett" and "stayed away from drugs". The fact that they made an acid-inspired album to begin with speaks to their use; i don't think they would have followed Syd down that path if they didn't like it.

  • @zeprock70 its my favorite band too, that means nothing when their actions should be clear. Also its not your "opinion" that they never used drugs, its either true or it isn't.

  • @DarkSunGod alright dude sorry chill lol.

  • Comment removed

  • I highly doubt that they used drugs. With the knowledge that it fucked Syd and the fact that did so much homage to him, they couldn't have. I'd be a little bit sad if they did.

  • @slappydum Gilmour said he thought barrett would have cracked no matter what and didn't think it was only because of the drugs.

  • He reads the interviewer to see his reaction...and then he plays a little bit of a mind game. See if he denies that they smoke or do drugs...then people will WANT to disbelieve them. If he admits to it...than they lose their mysterious status and are labeled a druggy band. David had no choice but to answer that question in that manner...I think the truth is that they experimented with ethnogens on occassion. Most people are incapable of tripping on a regular basis, except Syd Barret.

  • hahahahaha oh man that smile at the end and then the "trust us"..... ohhh i don't know, david...

  • "not so bad". to this day, thats one question i would ask gilmour, which is wut was the drug use during the years of pink floyd. lol im hoping alot of acid and weed

  • @TheGreenbud666 I'm pretty sure there wasn't a lot of acid involved after what happened to Syd Barrett...

  • *heart-attack*

  • lol lie

you guys more high than a very high man

  • OF COURSE THAT I TRUST YOU DAVID-YOU GORGEOUS TALENTED CREATURE <3<3<3

  • Oh c'mone you guys. EVERYONE smoked weed. He means they don't base it off acid, or DMT or some shit.

  • He's hiding a massive joint beneath the table.

  • @VanDoodah lmfao

  • i like how he says that when he's baked

  • Their music was so go because they did so many psychedelics, it opened their mind to so much more.

  • Roger Waters said they took acid several times in the sixties, and sometimes had a puff of the "occasional joint" and nothing more. This is quite ironic, given the fact that their music is considered to be the ultimate stoner music ;)

  • ARE YOU GUYS FUCKING SERIUOUS?!?!

hes FUCKING BLAZED JUST LOOK AT HIM!

  • Off cours we're not, you can trust us.

    amen

  • still good music

  • I love David Gilmour...he was soo hot lol.

  • That was ALMOST convincing haha, still gotta love them though

  • It's true, whether or not they did drugs does not partain to the question, they still weren't " drug orientated group". There music wasn't about drugs. I've heard rumors that they used to take sheets of acid, but then again those are just rumors(well Syd might have but who the fuck knows)

  • i just know that the music is awesome to get high with i used to smoke weed and listen to pink floyd and it was awesome the first time i took acid my friend put pink floyd in the car fuck that was too intense man i even got scared lol

  • Were the Floyd a drug orientated group? Well, if they would have continued with Syd absolutely. But we all know where Syd finally ended up. I feel David was a BLESSING to Pink Floyd, if it wasnt for him, I dont feel they would have received such notoriety and phenomenal sound!

  • " you can trust us...smirk" haha what a badass

  • Quite possibly the best thing I've ever seen....I drink mostly and don't even do drugs...but those are the eyes of the most red and fucked up kind .saying "we don't do drugs...you can trust us.." simply incredible, genuine, and meant to be.

  • amen

  • lol! he's stoned there when he's saying that.

  • i dont think pink floyd is a drug group either, you cant make such good music while on drugs.

  • tell that to the beatles dude lol

  • well, he's quite obviously high on weed in this vid :)

  • @dreamwebs I disagree if you watch the whole video (live at Pompeii) they seem to be very coherent I am not saying that they didnt do any drugs I just think that many people think they did way more than they did because of syd and how people like to listen to them high but who really know how much they did

  • haha...he says with an evil smile...whether they are drug oriented or not...there's only one band I would put on the old 8 track as I smoke a fatty....and that's the floyd!

  • The evil smile was the reason I uploaded this vid :D

And about the second part, you're so right!

  • i trust you David. Your the only guy i know that kicks so much ass on the guitar whil e not being high on some kind of drug. Rock on David!!

  • You are right; I totally agree ;) !
