I remember our young new Italy in the cage of lions, we feared to get 0-6, as Milan did by Ayax few months before. Instead, we played very well, scored and were denied a clear penalty.

But in the second half the lions wake up, great saves of Zoff and, as Martellini says in the video, there was nothing any more of the italian team.

Eventually, we were happy to finish only 1-3.

It's true, it's a nonsense to criticise Holland for a worse exibition of a referee. Holland was surely the best team in that period but Italy made a good first half of the game. Our national team was trying to be rebuilt after the disaster in WC74. The commentary of the "mytthos" Nando Martellini says that our team doesn't exist anymore just before the third goal. As for this game particularly , I suggest to you to ask any even a little skilled football supporter who knows even only 50% of football rules what kinda incredible , 1way minded & driven, improbable mistakes that BRIBED referee made and ALL in favour of Netherlands , not mentioning his ridiculous and partial attitude and behaviour during the game to the dutch team.
