  • who won i cant hear crap

  • o_O corner trap... ouch.

  • What's the CE Bison corner trap? Is it scissors kick > c. short or c. forward?

  • @christpunchers i think its

c.forward > scissors kick > standing forward kick > repeat

  • why don't they just ban CE,WW characters at evo,if people complain so much about them?

  • Julian is a real nice guy, plays like... everything...

  • Psycho crusher!

  • I'm sure your suggestions of an emulator will go down real well for organizers of a prize tournament in the face of legal challenges.

  • yeah i play ST on nebula emulator for PC. works PERFECT. much better than any console. you can even save your gameplay as a movie file and review what you did wrong and what you did right

  • 2nd round, a comebacks so good, even Diago would hav 2 bow

  • 1) Ummm... MAJOR copyright issues...

    2) Not personally a fan of X-Arcade sticks.

    3) No argument there.

  • no perfect clone of ST?

    1) Get MAME

    2) Get X-Arcade joystick

    3) Practice. I just got done playing SF2WW on that exact setup, in fcat (gasp) it's even better than Arcade! Because all the buttons work and it never eats quarters!

  • Why didn't anyone in these matches use any World Warrior characters? They aren't banned and they do a lot of damage.

  • AE = Anniversary Edition (PS2 & XBox)

    ST = Super Turbo

  • wtf is AE and ST?

  • What problems are there with the Dreamcast SSF2X? I haven't played ST enough to know, but I brought SSF2X into the office and have been playing it with the office folks for the past few weeks. I dig it, but maybe it's just because Rog is good (and we were playing HF before--Rog's hard to win with in HF).

  • Sprite sizes are different, causing some changes in distancing and spacing. Also, the corners on the DC version are kinda whack. There are some instances of characters popping out of corners while falling down and such that didn't occur in the arcade. It's all very minor, but enough to be somewhat annoying for the hardcore experts.

  • Don't try to make too many uneducated accusations, now. AE was included because there is currently NO SATISFACTORY version of ST available on consoles. Dreamcast version is shit, PlayStation 1 version is shit, etc. etc. We've tried them all, and every year there are complaints. So we went to AE this year 'cause everyone owns it already for Third Strike. Maybe next year, if we get an arcade perfect ST available at home, we may move back to ST.

  • Uneducated accusations? Have you ever thought about bringing or supplying a pcb/jamma board of ST and a SuperNova system for EVO! The ST jamma board and all other SF2 boards are pretty cheap as are the Nova systems!

  • Evo is a console tournament. And the way we are running the tournament this year, we would need, probably, 24-32 copies of the boards and jammas and such. Just wouldn't be practical at all.

  • So how many players were at EVO-06 this year? And how many came to just play ST or AE? I know, lugging 20+ SuperNovas around (let alone finding 20 of them) would be a pain in the ass! >_<

So for the people who wanted to play just ST, couldn't you have made a rule when using AE, to have them only pick characters from ST?

  • With the format change we made this year, we run only one game's pools at once. We will typically have 8 brackets of pools to whittle the players down to the semi-finals, and we'd like to have 3 to 4 stations per pool (thus the 24-32 number). This year's Evo, which is happening this upcoming weekend, I'm not sure how many entrants there will be, but I'm hoping the number is up from last year due to the increase in prize money.

  • And we considered using only ST characters in AE. However, the "Old" versions of the characters weren't accurate. Old Sagat, for example, is weaker in AE than in ST. Also, in the arcade, the new versions of the characters can escape Throws from either version. In AE, Old versions of the characters cannot have their Throws teched, giving them an extra advantage in AE. So due to those sorts of inaccuracies, trying to emulate ST with AE just wasn't feasible.

  • evo gone down the toilet. No tekken 5 dr, mario fart, doa4 rubbish and now this crap instead of normal ST? CE bison is so fucking dull. Damn evo is shit now

  • DSP is the truth. He is the hater who hates.
