Music is a gift that soothes the heart strings. I'm having a very beautiful nostalgic moment listening to the songs i heard every single Sunday morning as a child. Its hard to forget the words, the rhythm and the message behind it. To Sidney may the memories and legacy of your father give you peace and i hope your family knows that while he was here he did his earthly job of bring happiness, peace and challenge to the lives of his fellow Nigerians and Africans.. May his soul continue to RIP.
Thanks for posting this...brings back memories from my pre-teenage years...NTA Benin, Cock Crow at Dawn, Mirror in the Sun, Election '83...! RIP Mr Okosun!
What I'll say may shock MJ's fans. D day I learnt that Sonny was dead I felt so bad he died w/o occupying any govt post in Nigeria. It was easy for me to feel so. he was such a grass root man Africa wide he could hv made a change. But musicians like Rev. Frs don't often enter politics. I felt the same way when I heard Marvin Gaye was dead and tha Bob Marley died b4 I started playing hs music in 1984. I ws just sorry for MJackson (easily d most popular human being). He lived not hs life at all.
Lord, this is a sad day for me. Sunny Okosun is dead! I can't believe this. It brings tears to my eyes listening to this great song and at the same time accepting the fact that this great singer is dead. I really can't take this information. I am so sad. I miss home greatly. I love you Sonny Okosun. Thanks for all the beautiful songs and the lives you have touched with them. R.I.P. Love you with all my heart. Thanks to the person who posted this song. God bless you.
Thanks Emeka. Just like you, many people are still getting over the sock of Sonny's death. There will never be another like him. He was truly a great man.
I did not know this great maestro has passed on to the great beyond. Listening to his music as I have often done, I never knew he was physically gone. I remember him as a boy, and always comparing him to another maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo. Yes, he will be missed by those who appreciate his message-packed music. This man impacted the world with his music. Like Mariam Makeba, he fought political injustices and neocolonialism in Africa. He was a hero and still is, even in death. RIP great one!!!
to chrisj2001. while he was alive he was going through pain. you shouldnt say f*** his death. you should say f*** the cancer. but when you say that. thats coursing his death. i am his grandaughter. I took his loss extremely hard. but he's in a better place. R.I.P grandpa.I love you.
death why sonny okosun, why not all these criminals that call theirselves nigeria leaders from the president to the local councilors. fuck u stupid death.
Planetolusola, thanks for posting Sunnys songs.I jut heard of his demise today.being away from home can be somehow. When i think of these men dying it is painful.Oliver De Coque just passed away and Sunny went before him.Nig

one of the great songs ever produced in africa. our legendary sonny okosun was great in life & in demise. all his songs stand the test of time, for the early times to the xtian rhythms. he is a BLESSING. may the light of God continue to shine on him. my friend Isong and I love him greatly. thanks for sharing, Planetolusola.
I remember seeing him driving thru Afor Enyiogugu in Mbaise towards Owerri in his big American Blue Ford Bronco, coming from Umuahia in 1976,I was 14 then,(my that was 32 years ago) it just seemed vivid like it happened yesterday. He looked real calm while driving through. He's blessed already we all miss him.
I never heard that this god is dead. I was cleary entartained by this man when I was a teenager in Imo State. Great singer. May God accept him for all his good work.

Rest in Peace Man. this shows that every man can change his world no matter his contribution. Sonny has done his part. What are we willing to give or sacrifice for our great nation, Continent and then the world.
Thank you all for your kind words. He was my best friend, my brother, my love and the best father in the world. I miss him a lot and its just been 2 days. I love u DAD. From ur son Sidney
Sincere condolence on the loss of your father, the most venerable Pastor and Evangelist Sonny Okosun. He was a true man of faith, a man who inspired a whole country not only through his musical legacies and his fight against oppression, but also through his religious ministries. He's now sitting on the right side of our Lord Jesus Christ. Take comfort in the fact that he is now in a place of rest.
I am shocked to hear that Okosun is no more. He loved is country and his people so much that he always sing to raise their spirit. He gave a good fight to survive this cancer but God has spoken. R.I.P. brother.
Wow I remember this song with fond memories. May he rest in peace. Just remembering people like him and songs and lifestyle, it makes one wonder what has happened to Nigeria. May he rest in peace.
I just got the sad news of SONNY OKOSUN's passing in Washington DC today! May he rest in peace and condolences to his family and other loved ones. His works will live on!
