  • Just to listen. God bless you! Greetings from Brazil!

  • want their CD, i dont care i been sleepin on these guys wow

  • well i think that this is a little bit better than all Mozart's compositions, but that's just my opinion :)

  • great guys!!!!!Greetings from holland(the Brooklyn Brothers)

  • this is awesome I love the time signature the drummer is playing exacting what I would have

  • Really nice! This may be personal preference, but I really felt like the percussionist and drummer were stepping on each others toes a lot during the groove sections, especially in the beginning of the tune. I think the feel suffers a little when you have two guys playing backbeat at the same time, even if it's on different snares. Sticks and sticks is just too much of the same texture for me--congas with hands would have been money. BUT double backbeat was vital for the set solo section--SICK!!

  • Soultone Cymbals yessah!!

    this sounds good tho..

  • guys, time signatures (for the most part) go from 4/4 to 3/4 then back again. just groove to it

  • @sabiankid11 7/4 man. No back and forth... just 7/4

  • @costincostout 7/4? 7/8 you mean

  • drummer is so on point it actually made me feel a little sick

  • the Time signature is 7/4 at the beginning not 7/8. Switches to a 10/8 which is split to 6/8 and 4/8..then 4/4 at the end

  • mad groove and ensemble quality

  • It's all about the groove!

  • its 7/8 whats so hard about that

  • A groove of 6/8 and 4/4

  • @josakk or 14/8 depends on how you feel it.

  • i think steve jordan wouldve laid a thick groove down

  • @wserious same kkkk awesome idea haha !!!!!!!!!

  • the subtle stab at 1:24 is filth!

  • can't stop listening to you guys..

  • i wished the drummer was more jazzy like a keith carlockish geroove or mike clarke but yeah he did ok for a gospel drummer.... beautifull song thouhg

  • @triohenderson i agree i dont udnerstand how it sounds so thin with two drummers. the overall composition and playing is sick tho

  • ...meanwhile lil wayne has another hit song whos 1/10000 as musical complicated as this... what a world

  • WOW!!!

  • ONE QUESTION HOW IS IT THAT THERE ARE 6 DISLIKES? CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME PLEASE. IS IT BECAUSE THEIR MAD BECAUSE THEY DIDNT THINK OF THIS GROOVE FIRST. LLLLOOOOOLLLL, !!!!!!! THESE BOYS ARE SICK WIT IT......PLAY ON, I GOT THE ALBUM.

  • dude on the ser killin

  • crazy! but yet so simple, insane! but yet so calm lol loved it

  • That drummer is throwin down!!

  • AMAZING!!!

  • It's not often 7/8 and 5/8 feels so natural.

Such a dirty yet veeery clean groove, these videos just blew me away and I've spent the entire evening listen to you. Amazing and inspiring in so many ways!

I hope not only musicians appreciate what you do so you can go out and play bigger show and perhaps come to sweden some day!

  • @TheMojoBeat I AGREE WIT CHA

  • the drummer ... THE DRUMMER!!!!!!!!! (idie)

  • Great bunch of young musicians! Loved the groove and the time changes!

  • Comment removed

  • Sput is Laying that groove down heavily...And Michael on bass...and u can't forget Shaun.Martin..priceless.

  • quantity over quality

  • man ooooooh man such a monstrous sound .........you guys are really amazing

  • nice sounds!

  • I loved it! You can actually feel the band really gettin into it. You don't normally see violinists groovin like that, but they were into it, too. Great vid!

  • Just to clarify, the song consists of two "motifs'. The first of which is 7/4 and the second is in 5/4. In the drum solo the band is playing 5/4 and the drummer is playing allll over that shit haha. Fucking amazing. Then the last groove near the end is just 4/4. Just found this band tonight, they are phenomenal.

  • I also notice a lot of people trying to distinguish the time signatures that the drummer is playing from the time signatures that the rest of the band is playing. Now, the drummer COULD in fact be thought of as playing in a different time signature, because he doesn't accentuate in the same place as all of the other band members, but the way I see it, the drummer is simply not accenting the 1 in every measure. It's an interesting for of coloration in the music, but clearly, it works!

  • If I were to add my two cents in, I find the main rhythm to be most comprehensible when thought of in a repeated pattern of 4/4 followed by 6/8. This allows all of the notes in the first measure to fall on the downbeat, but causes what most people interpret as the 1 of the next measure to land on the "and" of 4. Still, when the next measure continues, the 6/8 signature allows the notes to fall on the downbeat. During those little piano breaks, I'm hearing a constant 5/8 feel.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX hay man.. just listen to the music and ENJOY IT..!!! I SURE DID... ;-)

  • I find it funny that people try and determine the exact time signatures in a song. You realize that time signatures are completely open to interpretation right? Any musical pattern fits into time, and all a time signature does is allow the listener and the player to comprehend the piece in the most simplistic way possible. I.E. a 5/4 pattern can be written in 4/4, it just won't flow correctly. Thinking in 5/4 makes the pattern easier to comprehend.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX I agree. People don't understand how much music has evolved. You can play a different time signature within the confines of the main time signature. It's done in gospel drumming all the time.

  • A great band starts from a great bass player and a great drummer. I just confirmed that

  • YES yes YES !!!

  • the level of the composition is just amazing here...it's like incomprehensibly complex, but still doesnt appear to be showy or unnecessarily complex. It's just groove!

  • @THEspindoctor84 It's jazz, dude. Pop music don't compare, lol.

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • this gives me chills. it is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks so much - i smile whenever i think of this song....

  • this is amazing

  • The work on these songs is jus amazing! Sick outta dis WRURL! [world]

  • Chris McQueen's guitar work is beyond insane. Those finger stretches...dear god.

  • Please put Anomynous on youtube!!!!!!!!!

  • This is certainly AMAZINGLY AMAZING HAHA....... LOVE WHEN YA'LL CUT OUT AND COME BACK IN..... tune has a kinda Jaga Jazzist feel too.... Loving the organ like crazy

  • rlly boring

  • @TheJackieoo What is really boring? Cuz there's no way you're talking about this song.

  • @TheJackieoo They see u trollin.

  • @TheJackieoo

    you're boring, man!

  • I am amaze of how you young people are so focus in "crystalyzing" your gem jams! Awesome as always. Forever, you'll have my support!

  • If you disliked this video either youre too stupid to understand and appreciate its complexity or youre just a troll.

  • "Recorded Live, in front of a studio audience"...

  • A question regarding the time signatures: I believe the time signatures are very slightly different between the band and the drummer.

For example, I listen to the first section it sounds like 7/8 to the band, yet the drummer plays a bar of 4/4 and a bar of 3/4, making it sound like 7/4 feel. In the next section the band plays 5/8, the drummer plays 5/4 (or 2 bars of 5/8 but snare on the first beat of the 2nd bar).

Would I be wrong in saying drummer plays 7/4 and 5/4, band plays 7/8 and 5/8?

  • @PenguinMcDuck that would be the easiest way to notate it, though, obviously 7/4 and 7/8 (and 5/4 and 5/8) can be appraised as each other, just requiring different notation. easier to notate it as superimposed time signatures, best to write the notation in the feel desired.

  • Comment removed

  • @PenguinMcDuck ... Thats exactly what I thought! I am a drummer and would have naturally followed the melody in 7/8. But the drummer here playing 7/4 over it is really cool ... love it!

  • @KevWhitehead Yeahh It`s great !!!..an BRIDGE on 10/8..

  • 4 people couldn't figure out the time signatures

  • Comment removed

  • @Becca9080 4 more did, and snarky puppy had to kill them

  • took me a while to finally get the 13/8 time signature.

  • @swinginman91 haha. its actually 14, but nice try

  • @go2collegewithwyatt

thanks.......i sometimes half ass counting my time signatures. i've been focusing less on technicality of everything and more of the groove and mindset of pieces.

  • that was the most unusual background for a drumsolo. or the craziest drum comping for the quiet section of the song. i donno... amazing band

  • Dude why did I have a straight face until 7:50, and then had a face like I just smelled a fart!! #somuchsoul

  • Comment removed

  • What a beautiful thing to see musicians (especially strings!) playing off the page. Love this track...so much fun to see the video. Thanks for posting and keep at it!

  • The end is so fresh!!!!

  • 7:53!!! WHEWWWWWWW!!! Another notch! Man yall are the TRUTH!!! Tell the bass player I want lessons! lol

  • How can you dislike this??!!

  • @youbass That's because it's a 70s p bass made by the hands of god.

  • 6:31 blastbeat!

  • This is such a tight track... i love how every musician works together to bring an outstanding sound... drum = amazing... bass... awesome. This track for me works like a mother :D

  • That bass player is CRUSHING it. Man, yall groovin to the max!

  • This is great, i really like the playing, vibe and tune. However there has been a lot of post production stuff here. Ever heard two violins sound like that? That sounds like 12-15 and theres some lower stuff probably cellos. The bass player has a precision bass, but it sounds like a jazz bass to me......

  • @youbass1 There is a cello player.

  • @youbass1 Also, the thickness that you hear on the strings is probably due to the horn section mimicking all the string lines. One of my friends was at the actual session, and had his Zoom recorder in the control room, and surprisingly the result of what was coming through the control room monitors was very close to what the release sounded like.

  • @youbass1 - There was literally no overdubbing, doubling, tuning, or any other non-reverb based effects added after the recording. It is 100% live. The strings (1 violin, 1 viola, 1 cello) were miked both close and with a stereo pair above them. The bass played was a '76 Fender Precision. Just to be clear. :)

  • Fucking AWESOME!!!

  • excelente!!!!!! muy bueno ,un abrazo grande desde montevideo ,uruguay

  • Sick song...love it

  • Excellent guys!

  • This drummer is so godlike.

  • The bass drum displacement at 8:02 is jaw dropping.

  • @TheAtariJenkins yeah, love how the band stretches that bar with him too...

  • amazing!!

  • Guys, this is soo great. Well done. From one musician to another. Fantastic!!

    Matt

  • this is true muscianship I like this snarky puppy is a great band.

  • thank you! as a musician i am blown away by you guyz and thank you for giving the younger musicians someone in this case people lol to look up to and dream big! Kepp it up! love it!!!!

  • the crescendo from 5:52 to 6:00 has left me speechless....

  • ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!!!!!

  • i hope everyone realizes all of these videos that are in this studio are played on the same day. NO MUSIC =D wow. that's amazing

  • 2:23 to 2:26 hahhahha

  • Perfect example of a "pocket" band. True musicianship at its finest!!!!

  • This is not my style of music at all, but I can't stop listening to this song :)

  • wow i had to rewind the last 2 minutes of the song like 10 tyms

  • Hes playing an Organ!! at 8.15

  • Now this is some goood music!! never heard of snarky puppy before but this shit definetly caught my interest!!!!! reeeaalllyyyy niiiceee

  • As with Skate U this song makes me dream of the day that i become skilled enough to jam with musos like this... Thank you Snarky Puppy, you guys are my idols!

  • 8:15 .... What is THAT guy playing D:

  • @DecDrums an instrument of pure bliss

  • Pure Genius!

  • No telling what some adults can do with a bunch of kids and a million dollars in equipment and music education.

  • @broncolah So what? The music's good, isn't that all that matters?

  • I diggs!! Need this in my ride!!!

  • Fantastic. Anyone know where to download? Mediafire is not cooperating.

  • WOW!!!

  • This is just amazing!

  • I love the bassist at 7:56!

Goes from relaxed to grooving in less than a second. excellent reaction!

  • I am blown away by the composition of this song every time I listen to it.

  • Listening to this really made my day

  • I could listen to 1:56-2:50 for the rest of my life and be a happy man...

  • @impactology08 more like i could listen to 0:00 - 8:45......

  • @impactology08 i like the spacey part that starts at 4:20. WAIT, did they plan that? that part sounds vaguely Jean Luc Ponty-esque, or Mahavishnu-esque

  • incredible melody and bass line

  • then into 10/8 when it changes

  • alternates between 8/8 and 6/8... or just call it 14/8

  • @JohnGrizzly1985 all while the keyboard player is playing straight seven. That's the crazy part. Your ear is hearing this melody coming from the keys in seven but the beat feels like four.

  • I think I might actually buy this.

  • Serious talent but played with so much joy...love it...

  • i'ma visual artist nd have no musical talent at all but good groove music definitely inspires me to draw sum chill shit..needless to say, Snarky Puppy is inspirational

  • Very professional!!!

  • 2 people have no groove.

  • Inspiring. Gotta go grab my saxophones right now!

  • Looks like McQueen's got some fun little voicings there....

  • This is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shoulda gave the keyboard soloist more screen time. xD

  • yessss this is music lol

  • Excellent track guys. As a bass player, I really admire your bass player's tasteful minimalism. I can tell that your whole band has great players, yet no one is stepping outside of their defined role. Keeping the composition most important. Fine display.

  • nice work. lov"n it

  • I like this track, incredible stuff

  • Comment removed

  • 7/4 would be a more accurate description of meter for this tune.

  • That Drummer is...BAAAAAAAAAAAADDD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol. reading all these comments about the time signature is funny. the cool thing is that if you count it in 7/4, you get 7 beats until you can heard the down beat of the next bar. but if you subdivide the 7/4 and count 7 beats with the sub-division, its still in 7. i personally think that thats mathematics with music at its best. :-)

  • kick ass music. great video shots too.

  • it is def. 7/8 time

  • @drumcrazy564 its not in 7/8, its in 7/4. just count it and keep it simple

  • =^O!!!! agian! good stuff guys!!!

  • wwwskyboystudiocom

  • does someone has any kind of charts or chords for this song?

  • That bass player is WOW !!!!! Jeezzz. The horns are on point ! The strings benefit the song! The drummer was killin, the piano player was great ! The aux. keys was great ! The Organist was awesomee !!! The percussionist killed in the gap nicely ! What more can i sayy ! This is a BAND ! They were locked in a knew what they were doing. Snarky Puppy ... this is the day i lovee you !!! You're awesomee ! I must findd more musicc like this!! Great Job. thanks for posting!
