  • This has probably been asked before but what year were these videos shot? Just wondering!

  • Good!

  • I been watching so much competitive Kata, I forget how actually hard our style is. It looks so strong compared to the WKF style regulations. Kanazawa was no push over thats for sure.

  • Great form and outstanding power.

  • yh looks like it but it might be a knee depends on perspctive and what he was visualising

  • Is that a front kick at 1:40 ?

  • in the kata i use a mae geri keage (or you cant stay in kiba dachi)

in bunkai i dont use it... or maybe an hiza geri

  • @AGwarry i <3 hiza geri

  • @Gyte75 its a very exadurated leg sweep. for the kata

  • Tonydiniz, maybe the older 10th Dans had been a 10th dan for a long time.

  • Nowadays young people can be 10 Dan. How come? How many years has he studied karate?

  • 1st dan youd have to wait 3 yrs b4 testin to become a second dan, then 4 years to become a third dan and so on and so on

  • he was a 6th dan when these videos were shot.

  • @tonydiniz You do have to remember though mate that these days information is so much more freely available. A lot of guys who studied it earlier in life would probably had to wait for each class to learn new information, and often would even wait for months or even years for some travelling master to show them even MORE things. This is a good example of someone now being able to learn to do a new basic kata over a period of days, rather than only getting to see quality in a few lessons a week

  • Wow, 0:55 that was a really strong hook punch (!)

  • Believe in you'r style and your self.

  • I believe Lyoto Machida had to learn all the katas in Shotokan stile, and now he is the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion !

I love practicing katas, but you would never see my Ura-Mawashi coming.Lights out !

  • o_0

  • what's the use of a martial art if you can't beat down your opponent? Yes i'm expecting everyone to thumb down me.

  • McDojos use martial arts to make profit. But what they teach isn't really a martial art you can use to protect yourself.

  • no its correct but heres the answer karate is mainly a training to improve yourself

  • Wow that technique, timing, stances all wrong. Just horrible.

ok not really - he would totally kick my ass lol

  • u are such an asshole

  • And you are retarded for not reading an entire post OR retarded for not understanding sarcasm. In any case, your level of idiocy remains the same.

  • To earn 1st degree in traditional/ combination karate/judo blackbelt in Asia, you need at least 5yrs of serious training! and it doesn't stop there....

  • you mean 1st Dan?

  • 1st degree or 1st dan, it's the same in asia or usa - you can interchange these 2 words.

  • lol, you want dancing, watch Dancing with the Stars. You want technically perfect technique on this form, watch him. There is no flash to it, just the most technically perfect performance of this form I have ever seen. If you have seen this form done in any other way, then you are seeing an altered version of it. It is meant as practice for self defense not entertainment. Don't mistake flash for substance.

  • Do I hear voices or am I just insane? @_@"

  • I hear voices too...

on tekki nidan, shodan and heian godan...

    are we both insane?

Am I more insane than you because i hear more voices ?!

What i hear is some kind of japanese guy mumbling..

i'm relieved someone heard it too

  • May be you´re conecting with the karate spirits.... XD. No, being serius it may be that you can´t focus easily

  • What I mean is that when I watch this video i hear voices, not when i'm doing the Katas..

    lol

    =]

  • I here the voies too at one point i heard a child speaking relatively loudly

Its what sounds like ppl in the background at some distance from where this was recorded :)

i did notice in the other tekki katas but its definately more significant in this one :)

  • Also, go from 0:33 to 0:50 and i can here a kiai very faintly before sensei kanazawa does it and it is definately the exact same kiai that sensei kanazawa does after the faint kiai

  • Allah Akbar who the fuck is alle baba

  • Ashihara was an Oyama student and he started his own style. The Oyama champion went with him,and broke off from Ashihara himself. Why is they tell non Japanese that they "don't know enough" to do it, but they do it themselves? Because they want the money and large association! Making a living from Karate is not the most prestigious job in Japan, so they want to make themselves bigger. When karate was originally taught it was an instructor showing the student the technique and then practicing it.

  • is that so?I heard that too from my friend.

Even they are martial artist, they need more money and fame too.kyokushin and their offshot full contact karate styles break off because money problems.did you also know that takeda sokaku and ueshiba morihei broke off because takeda sokau want residual from ueshiba's aikido? very sad but it is true.

  • kanazawa san, amazing work, strong and hard...

  • Where I'm from, you do Bassai Dai for 2nd Kyu, 1st kyu and shodan. 4th to 3rd kyu is tekki shodan. Tekki sandan may be one that you get called upon to do when going for nidan. Once you are Shodan, you are expected to know all 15 JKA ones.

  • Sounds very similar to my school. It is a lot of katas to get down before shodan. We also require one kobudo kata, students choice.

  • Tekki Nidan for 3rh Kyu and Black Belts in 6 months, yeah???!!! Great School!

  • I'm not sure if your comment was directed at me or not. But there are many schools that require more kata for Shodan than what the JKA requires. And no, noone gets a black belt in six months. It takes years. And it is a great school.

  • Respect to one of the best, Kanazawa Sensei. Great powerful Kata for Sandan.

  • great kata i agree with you. great performance. would you do this for 3rd dan exam?

  • In my school we actually do it for third kyu brown belt. Do you train Shotokan?

  • this kata is great

  • Allah Akbar,what a fantastic kata.He is a true master
