  • she talks too much

  • @amazinglove942 hence 'interview' bro

  • it's so boring. but it turns around and shows random awesome funny things and keeps you coming back for more

  • thumbs up if PALOMA FAITH Brought u here

  • She is a freaking genius.

  • i did sleep with her... i just want to show off this to all of you!

  • @hombremonja would she have good things to say of it? if not, be careful what you brag ;)

  • @tralalahahahamama i dont know about her... u have to ask her that when u meet her, i did , we did meet a couple of times and i had fun... its all i can say

  • i can dig it.

  • my god those eyes of her...

  • I want to like her, but why does she sound so uneducated?

  • she needs to manipulate others to feel sane. I believe that's a qualifier for psycopath. Luv u miranda <3

  • Her movie changed my world. Judging by all the awards and reviews it got, a lot of other people felt the earth move too. If you can't see it and feel it, well I guess it doesn't exist for you and you will just have to move on to something that you can see and feel. In my opinion, she is the most important artist in of our time, because her whole passion is directed to enspiring and enlivening ALL OF US.

    Go Miranda!

  • Her books are beautiful, her movie too. If we could just get her politicised in some way I'd vote for her. Otherwise this is all going to pass, all this powerful energy and directionless hope and creativity. What the hell is her next move? if she becomes a professional artist, it will be the end of her.

  • I love Miranda July's work. It's an invitation to see 'art' in everything, or if people object to the use of the word 'art' in this manner, to notice our connections with the worlds around us - connectionss that aren't necessarily noticed and likely aren't appreciated as being meaningful. Her work invites us to consider the value in our own stories instead of believing that art is something that 'others' do, something to which we are only an audience instead of a participant.

  • real artists don't use the word art all the time

  • @appollomsays real trolls don´t ever speak about themselves or what they do, but what other people are or do

  • Q. Why did the performance artist cross the road?

    A. Don't know, didn't stick around to find out!

  • I don't understand why people are making such rude comments about this. There is so much garbage on YouTube and in the media...why not criticize something actually worth criticizing?

  • Miranda July has serious balls to attempt bizarre projects like this and have them actually work.

  • This woman is ADORABLE <3

  • Those encouraging banners, Let Love In and Death Is Not The End are both Nick Cave songs (though death is not the end was written by Bob Dylan)

  • wow i really like this chick. like for real i was looking at other stuff on the tube and froe really stumbled on this... i am an instafan!

  • that or she just dont give a fuck

  • ...........XD

  • ok, so she's cute in a really affected waspy way. and i totally dig that, but those goddamn stories of hers... am i really expected to believe this goofy broad is THAT precious? and why does she always look at me like i just ran over her cat? (how....could....you?) look up "send more money making fashion" on youtube. susan burke and hari leigh rule.

  • I feel like I get what Miranda July's doing, I love her

  • miranda is beautiful she has such a shoothing voice

'me you and every one we no' was amazing to.

looking foward to the next movie.

  • I love her, she's so different in a beautiful way

  • i love her.

  • Oh man, I love that phone where one can hear someone's argument, lol, it seems like it would almost have that feel one gets when you pick up the phone in an home where someone's already on the phone.

  • shes fantastic

  • I admire her

  • steve shares this artist and author with 531 friends...i do not do that lightly...

  • why shouldnt there be a coffee table book of parents kissing as taken by children. it seems rather acknowledgable to me......?

  • simply awesome

  • I love assignments.

  • me too

  • totally awesome :D Just finished her book, love her style. She has very pretty eyes...

  • Wonderful! I was a little bit scared for a second. . . thank you.

  • I love this. I love Miranda July's movie, her book and these assignments are delightful. But why does the description say she "was" a performance artist. . . she's still well, right? still with us? Yes!

  • You are so right. Changed the description... thanks for pointing that our.

  • I think I have the same personality like Miranda July

  • wow, I liked this video, its about things that im always thinking about

  • One of those people that makes me feel awesome without having to be a better person

  • i need assignments alot of times

  • She's nutty and fresh. Quite nice.

  • pretty pretty!

  • I think she's wonderful.

  • I really don't think this is pretentious. Certainly as far as art goes. I mean it seems like that's her thing is being quirky without being pretentious.

  • there seems to be a lot of hate and cynicism going on here on YouTube. So what have you been doing lately to make the world a more interesting place?

  • Oh I'd do her, don't get me wrong, I loved her You Me and Everyone We One Know, it is a very rare gift to establish a rapport with people you meet, but let's face it, she is enormously privileged and a very unique juncture in human history. What did I do lately to make the world a more interesting place? I looked at my cock. That's not much, I give you that.

  • @SubmarineChannel wow.... wise comment... refreshing =)

  • @ruanda wait...so you have to be poor to be an artist?? did not know this, thank you for opening my eyes!

  • yea shes cool, but her work seems bland and blah...

  • Comment removed

  • Jealous?

  • Sure, who wouldn't want to be born with a safety net below them and have parents with deep connections in the art world. The problem is that for all the things going for her from birth, she's not all that interesting. Her brother is more interesting.

  • First of all, there's no logic behind blaming Miranda for having grown up in a stable household. Secondly, her parents weren't some capitalist business tycoons (not that that would be reason to hate, anyway...). Writers are artists too.

So, can someone not be interesting unless they've grown up in the slums, Miss Tropez? FAIL!

  • You must be a personal friend of Miranda and the Grossingers. How often do they talk about how "aware" and "earth-cool" they are because they drive small, dumpy little cars when they could obviously afford nicer ones? If I remember correctly, about every two seconds. They are the kind of people Michael Savage so accurately describes that he sees at dinner.

Her movie sucked--she obviously has some kind of deranged poop fetish.

  • I just don't get why she runs from who she is...she takes advantages when Grossinger gives it to her and uses July to show she's her own person. She might as well be one of those idiots on some MTV reality show.

  • 1.) No, I don't know them, so I can't answer your question. Furthermore... I think it's a petty thing to judge someone on.

2.) I don't know who Michael Savage is, and that sentence is awkward. Are you saying the Grossingers have dinner with Michael Savage?

  • (continued...)

3.) I really enjoyed her movie, as did a lot of other people. But who can say a movie sucked anyway? Film Festivals? Viewers? Either way, Cannes Film Festival awarded her the Camera d'Or as well as a few other awards and she received the Audience Awards at both the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Newport International Film Festival. We'll call that one a draw.

  • (continued...)

4.) IMO, that scene was brilliant and in no way alludes to a poop fetish of any kind. One character was a shoe salesman. Another keeps things in a trunk. Does she have a shoe and trunk fetish too? C'mon buddy...

5.) She's doing something worthwhile, man. She's positively affecting people. There are worlds or difference between her and the "idiots" on MTV reality shows.

6.) Out of curiosity, who else do you have this much hatred for?

  • Who's her brother? Why's he interesting?

  • @zoetropez -mocks- FAIL!

  • @nayzany

    STFU, you illiterate nobody...

What one thing did I say that's not the absolute truth? Sorry if the facts sting, but MJG is a trustafarian "artist."

  • @zoetropez FAIL!

  • @nayzany

That's one hell of an expostulation there. Let me guess: community college?

    I said good day, sir!

  • @zoetropez Expostulation? Is that a word they teach at, like, public schools or something?

  • @zoetropez OK, I'll give you a legitimate reply. I just have a hard time taking anyone who says "STFU" and "FAIL" seriously.

So Miranda July has connections to the art world. That's fairly common. She has done work that a lot of people love and a lot of people don't-- just as any artist. Have you read any of her work or are you just blindly criticizing her?

  • @nayzany

That's actually a lot more reasonable than I expected. I have read her stories and I adore them. But I don't have any respect for HOW she got to where she is. I know Richard and Lindy and Robin and I think she's screwed them all in a lot of ways. She used them and their connections and that's cool, but it also shows how shallow she is. Just like the movie, Me and You, etc. I respect her as an artist but when you deny who you are, as she does, it's a sign. Do I have to get Freudian?

  • @zoetropez You don't HAVE to. I wouldn't mind though. I'll be honest-- I know very little about who Miranda July actually is. I saw Me and You and Everyone We Know a few years ago and thought it was bizarre and interesting. Then last week I picked a book up from the library and when I realized who it was by, I was surprised. I'm an English graduate student and rarely find writing styles that I really, really love. Hers I love.

  • @nayzany

Fair enough. She's a good writer, as far as writing goes these days, which admittedly isn't the highest compliment, but is a compliment nonetheless. I have a Masters in English and I'll tell ya the truth: it's like swatting flies all the job offers for us in this economy. Selah. Best,

  • @zoetropez Who gives a shit how she got to where she got to, it's the art that counts.

  • @zoetropez Hey! You just might be pretentious enough to be a 'somebody'. You're going to be a big girl one day.

  • @zoetropez What a pretentious thing to say, Sad.

  • U Jelly?

  • she makes me so happy.

  • freedom of speech!

  • that makes me happy because my friend used to make fun of me that one day i kept taking pictures of the back of heads randomly. yeah!

  • lol I've done that!! I've taken a picture of under my bed... But it was a long time ago when I was like 12 or something. I think I was looking for ghosts haha

    :P

but yeah, Miranda July is pretty cool, maybe I should read one of her books one of these days :)

  • Miranda July is truly amazing.

I never tire of watching her movie, You and Me....

  • Same here, I don't know how many times I've watched it.

I bought the soundtrack and listen to it sometimes too

  • Sometimes? Oh man that soundtrack is amazing. Once a day, do yourself a favor!

  • my comment is pretty pointless, but she looks like Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan in I'm Not There :]

  • lol fuckin a

  • Art out of what is ordinary and what people generally ignore is the best kind of art.

  • totally agree.

  • She reminds me of my late friend Karen.

  • brilliant!!

  • This really made me want to get out and break social norms in an uplifting way like she does. Inspirational.

  • what will/do you do?

  • I think the way that she holds herself, not only visually but through conversation and through her interactions with things around that makes her so extraordinary. She is truly beautiful.

  • @redsparklyslippers She says like too much, especially considering she's a writer.

  • Not very nice to your mum

  • i wish miranda july was my mom .

  • what's really fantastic about this woman is that she changes from pic to pic, from clip to clip - she's always a different looking person. sometimes intelligent, sometimes funny, sometimes like a child and sometimes sexy in an innocent way.

  • will you look at those Eyes... gosh

  • i know it's like they emit light or sumt, i kept drooling over "Me and You and Everyone We Know" i thought that was in a way camera work, but looking at this interview i must say GOSH aswell, her only opponent in this world is zooey deschanel

  • I love her book. My friend let me borrow it, and I have to say my favorite story is about her holding swimming lessons in her apartment. It was so imaginative.

  • Ace! She's so inspiring.

    I want to be her.

  • Joy is all that comes to mind. That and everything.

  • Miranda is the bomb!

  • beautifull eyes:\

  • Thanks for posting this. The interview, Miranda and the exhibition are all great!

  • she once said in an interview that if movies weren't made then how can people feel that they're not alone. and that's what she does for me. maybe people don't understand her because she doesn't connect with them. but for me she does. completely. everything she's ever created has resonated deeply with me. she's done exactly what i believe in a certain way she wanted to do.she's made me feel like i'm not alone and that i belong here. read her book, and maybe you'll feel something amazing

  • After listening to her talk, I should be able to have some understanding of who she is and what she does.. but I do not. This woman has no point whatsoever. It just goes to show that, now-a-days, 'art' is a term used loosely. The only thing I find interesting about her is her eyes. They're striking. Everything else is about as dull as it can get.

  • and i love her

  • american people are not cool

  • Yes she really is a peach.

  • Don't be such a berk. I am NOT posting this anywhere, and neither will the majority of other viewers. You have posted a pretty pointless comment, and now, so have I...DAMN!

Oh well - peace and goodwill from a chilly English garden. x

  • I love the idea of making art specifically for other people- it so much less selfish than making art to express only your own deepest feelings.

  • miranda july rules

  • What is the opening music on this clip?

  • I am quite sure that it is a blonde redhead song but dont know it's name

  • Yes, to be precise: Blonde Redhead, album: In an expression of the inexpressible, nummer: Luv machine.

  • i know it's a blonde redhead song. not sure which one. probably an early one.
