  • Man you hair splitters AK-47 is just a generic term to describe the rifle. You don't have a AK but a AKM. So what? Douche your 1960 Polish is not a AK. It has to be Russian with a milled receiver made between 1947 to 1959 in 7.62x39 capable of full auto fire. That is a REAL AK-47 ass douche. Not the shit you have.

  • @BleedingBullets4U So by your logic a Corvette and a Cadillac could be called the same because they have the same engine and are made by the same company? It isn't splitting hairs, there is a HUGE difference between a milled and stamped AK. They are all AKs but not 47s. BTW, the Polish 1960 was made exactly as the Russian ones of the 1950s. And FYI, the Russian ones didn't have milled receivers in the 1940s, but you already knew that because you're the best!

  • yeah I like the akms better, but I would like to have a milled ak.

  • Thanks for the detailed explanation.

  • @NeverQuitEver Thanks for watching.

  • @the308 capital, thank you for demonstrating what I have known for years: that what most Kalashnikov owners possess is not an AK-47 but an AKM. Which is why I urge them to appreciate the difference in the event they prefer an actual AK-47 [or vice versa]. Very informative video. Your colourful language took me back to my days in the 82nd.

  • @JohnnyLackland Thanks. The differences are great enough to warrant the correct nomenclature. Just because Cadillac and Buick are both made by GM and have leather seats does not make them the same car.

  • If I understood correctly, you are saying that more than 90% of the AK's in the world are milled receivers?

  • @Galleon93 90% is a guess but by far the vast majority of AK 47s had milled receivers. The very early production from 1948-1951 had stamped receivers but they were quickly changed to milled receivers from 1951/52 until around 1959. In 1959 the AKM was put into production and all AKMs have stamped receivers. The AK 74 as well as the AK 100 series also all have stamped receivers.

  • @the308capital Yes,I get that,I just didn't understand what you said in the video, you said it too fast :D

  • hey very informative video... ive been lucky enough to acquire a polytech aks for next to nothing. i was wondering which category that would fall into. it kinda has features from both.

  • @N1NJA5TATUS The poytech is in it's own category for several reasons. Technically it is an AKM because it is the later model of the orignal Chinese Type 56 which was a direct copy of the Russian AK-47 with 2 major exceptions being the integrated bayonet and hooded front sight. Since the Chinese went from the Milled type 56 to the stamped Polytech it was the same upgrade as all AKMs going from a milled to a stamped receiver. So it is an AKM with Ak47 small parts.

  • @the308capital so with akms have chrome line barrels?

  • im in the market for an ak...would u say a stamped reciever is better than a milled reciever? wich do you perfer, the ak or the akm.

  • @likeitornot84 Both milled and stamped AKs are great rifles. The AKM is slightly better because it performs all the same functions just as reliably while weighing less. AKMs are generally less expensive also.

  • Very informative! I own several AK's (or should I say AKM's) and I didn't know half of the things you mentioned.

  • @blabla9845 Thanks. Most people don't know that there is that much difference between the two.

  • hi everyone you'r awesome!

  • Hi i'm looking to buy my first ak. on cheaper than dirt, they have a converted century arms saiga 7.62 39 and they also have a polish akms underfoulder. you can see for your self on their website, but which would you recommend for a first time buyer

  • @BugMoneyFishing I like the Saiga better for 2 reasons: First off you get the original chromed Russian barrel, the AKMS will have a NON-Chromed US made barrel. I think that for AKs, having a chromed barrel is better for long term wear resistance. Second, underfolders can be uncomfortable to shoot because you can't get as good a cheek weld as well as placing your face on a thin metal framed stock. For a first AK, go with the Saiga.

  • @the308capital That Yugo in his picture doesn't have a chrome lined bore either. None of the Yugos has one and they are considered one of the best AK's.

  • @GordonTurnerpark The Yugo is the sturdiest AKM, that's why they hold up so well. They have thicker barrels, thicker receivers and the RPK styled reinforced front trunnions which all add to rigidity. The chrome VS non chromed barrel really only comes into play for rapid fire. The chrome lined barrels can handle the extreme wearing pressures on the throat better than a non chromed barrel would. For accuracy the non chromed is slightly better.

  • one mistake, there was an Ak-45 - and that one was very unsuccesful, onl hting that i rember that ak45 strips like an STG44,FN FAL style, and one more thing that i dont't exatly remeber that receveirer wasn't a stamped steel

  • good vid but where does the mak 90 fall in all this my is stamped but everything else is ak

  • @ohiopreppdude It is really in it's own class. The Mak-90 is a descendant of the Chinese type 56 which was a direct copy of the AK-47 with the minor differences of the swivel bayonet and hooded front sight. The Mak 90 is more reminiscent of what an original 1940s AK 47 was like which was a stamped receiver and all. Since the type 56 went from being a milled receiver to a stamped in the 1960s, an AKM is more of what it the Mak 90 really is. It just retains AK-47 small parts.

  • Cannot get Aks in Canada because our government is full of retarded fucks.

  • @kop4321 I know, Canada gun laws are fucked. You can own a Vz 58 in Canada if I'm not mistaken.

  • @the308capital Yup. The FAL and G3 are also illegal (yet you can get the M14.. what the hell?) The reason they gave? Too easy to make full auto. Yet its easier to make an Ar15 full auto (which is shoved under "Restricted." meaning we can only shoot them in ranges, not to mention 5 round mag cap on all self loading weapons. Because to convert an AK47/AKM to full auto you have to pretty much rebuild the trigger, the receiver..

  • @kop4321 Its for very clear and obvious reasons, military rifles are not allowed, simply for the fact that they can feed full magazines, and be converted to fire in full auto, although I will agree that conservatives are retards

  • @misomalu

Then explain to me why the CZ 58 isn't banned. The ar15 is restricted. The m14 is fine and dandy. And as for being made full auto...They won't feed properly, you have to have the actual trigger assembly-reviver for it to actual fire and feed reliably. Don't get me wrong im not complaining about us in Canada having a smidgen of the more interesting weapons. Its just they're only banned because they look scary. Like switch blades. Tons of other guns feed full sized mags.

  • @kop4321 Such as the mini 14. which is the gun that was used to shoot up a school. AND WE DO NOT HAVING FULL SIZED mags anymore. five round cap on all self loading guns.

The banned items have..really no reason being banned and the current system should be reworked.

  • @kop4321 Spot on 100%. Take a look at my video explaining the stupid Assault Weapons Ban in the US from 1994-2004. Guns were banned SOLELY because of looking scary. Functionality had NOTHING to do with it at all. Government couldn't find its own asshole in the dark with both hands.

  • @kop4321 Yes but if I am correct, semi automatic rifles are restricted to 10 or 5 round magazines, just as well, the CZ 58, is structurally different from the AK-47 variants, and cannot be shortened via a folding stock, I believe this is the reason for its legality, the AR-15 is not a service rifle, and I believe the M14 is legal because of its length

  • @misomalu

Nope. You can buy them with folding stocks. It And yes they are different internally. The CZ started being sold in this country AFTER the AK bans. And saying the AR 15 is not a service rifle is like saying Semi auto AK47s are not service rifles. Because they aren't. They're civilian versions. A full sized FAL should be legal by length. It isn't.

  • @kop4321 there is a reason for everything, whether or not it was made based on sound judgement is another thing, quite simply put, why do you really need an AKM or any rifle of the sort?

  • @misomalu Why? Because I enjoy collecting arms. Why? The gun came from the country I was born in. Why? Because things shouldn't be banned without god damn good reason. That's why. Same reason why you need a nice car or a nice home. Because you can. Because you should be able too.

  • @kop4321 When you think about it, the government could ban the use of all firearms, or just firearms not deemed useful for hunting, with just and simple cause, be happy that you are allowed to own the firearms you currently can. Sure the AK-47 may be banned without an entirely good reason, but much worse things have happened, its not like the government is taking away one of your fundamental freedoms

  • I'm looking at purchasing a new AK soon i have a bulgarian ak-74 and a saiga 308 w/ a vepr receiver Saiga308 Ver21, out of the two AK's you have which appear the to be the polish and yugo which one would you recommend. Which one is more accurate in your opinion with similar scopes and which one is ur favorite out of the two?

  • @redfirekla The Polish is definitely assembled better but it is $200 more and a bit heavier. I can't say that I like one better than the other because I have one of each in the major AK categories: One AK-47, one AKM. One stamped, one milled. One w/Fixed stock, one w/ underfolder. One w/ optic and rail, one plain and classic. Accuracy is close but the Yugo is a bit more accurate. Milled AKs aren't as common so the Polish would stand out more but the Yugo is much better priced.

  • @the308capital Thanks man, Yeah i think i'm going to go with the polish milled (originial ak-47). It reminds me of the milled PolyTechs that are going for 2k-3k price range.

  • @redfirekla Good choice. Unlike the Polys the Polish 1960s reside in the $700-$900 range.

  • is the furniture interchangeable?

  • @seberusnet Generally speaking, yes, but not always. There are some that are unique, like the Yugo AKMs for example.

  • HURRAY!!!!!!! I HAVE A STAMPED RECIEVER AK-47!!!! I had it checked out and it is a genuine ak-47, not AKM. I wonder how much i can sell it for on gunbroker

  • How do you tell the "rare exceptions" apart from the rest?

  • @PhillieBRidin The very extremely early prototypes and production run of AKs in the mid 1940's were stamped but they quickly changed to the milled receiver. Virtually nobody owns one, maybe a museum, that's how rare they are.

  • Something to think about unless you have a machine gun on your hands and most of us AK owners don't... AK is Automatic kalashnikova but shouldn;t it be a SAK? Semi Automatic?

  • @sanitysvoid Since very few people own full autos, being a semi auto is not the topic. Almost every military style rifle since the 1950s is either a select fire or full auto capable (minus some semi auto battle rifles). Because of this very few people own a TRUE 100% exact copy of an M16, AK 47 or whatever the case may be. I stick to the general construction of everything else about the two rifles and spotlight the differences which are considerable between the two.

  • Great video.

Don't AKMs also have different grips? I've heard the AKM generally has a pistol grip where as the AK47 uses a standard rifle grip.

  • @TheIronTyrant The grips are pretty much the same on both the AKM and AK-47. They both have pistols grips of the same size (materials are the only difference). You're thinking of the SKS which is the 7.62x39 that has the "old style" grip-on-stock like a hunting rifle today has. Thanks for watching.

  • @the308capital Thanks for the info

  • Excellent breakdown, I appreciate the opportunity to learn a lot in just a little time!

  • do any wasr 10s come with underfolders?

  • @3BabyMamas I believe so.

  • underfolding stack!!

  • ak47 is adopted in 1949.

ak47 is the first model that was submitted to the soviet army for testing in 1947. ak47 #1 . it was called ak47 from then.

  • i heard the yugo's are pretty good shooters. i wanted to pick one up. what kind of groups you get on that thing

  • @MrRustytrombone 2-2.5 moa @ 100yd is about average for me. They are capable barrels. The Yugo uses a thicker, un-chromed barrel unlike most other AKMs. I like the thicker receiver and enlarged front RPK style trunnion the Yugo utilizes. It is definitely the most solid and rigid receiver of the AKMs.

  • Thanks. I've learned a lot.

  • actually the dimples in the stamped recievers are there for stabality of the reciever not to keep the mags tighter!

  • @f8talh8red Who taught you that bullshit?

  • @BabsControl

go to akfiles.com and tell everyone there its bullshit! retard!

im 100% positive all the guys there know more about ak's and variants more than you!

  • @f8talh8red No, it is bullshit. dimples are there solely to provide magazine stability and prevent magazine detachment. On milled receivers they are machined out to reduce weight. And I am a member of akfiles dumbass, that and the ak-talk on the xd forums. I've done my homework. Kthxbai.

  • quick question. I just picked up my 1960 AK47. You know a good scope mount that will fit on it? Since it doesn't have a side rail.

  • @supratroopa Check out Texas Weapon Systems, they make a solid receiver cover rail. Also, Midwest Industries has a nice variety of AK rails.

  • @the308capital

thanks for the recommendation. people have told me about krebs custom but their scope mount doesn't fit on milled receivers. do you use a tws scope mount on your 1960?

  • Great video. How's that 1960 holding up for you? Just bought one for 650. Felt amazingly solid compared to the WASR/etc.. Not saying a WASR wont work, but the polish just felt amazingly better

  • @NASMTrainJH It is very accurate and solidly built. My brother and I were firing at an IPSC steel target at 200yds offhand and nailing it center mass every shot. I would have liked a chromed barrel but the un-chromed one works fine. The 1960 is much better built than every AKM I've ever fired for sure and is on par IMO with the Arsenal SA M7 all US made milled AKs. You made a good purchase with the 1960 over any stamped AK and at half the cost of a nice milled Arsenal SA M7.

  • @prepperwastate Yeah, it is cool to have one of each, both an AK47 and an AKM as well as an underfolder and a fixed stock.

  • Which in your opinion is the better rifle?

  • @wilcox1219 AKM. It performs the same functions as reliably as the 47 while weighing less.

  • @wilcox1219

    i would say the yugo!

    but i dont know shit!

  • @handgunlover True.

  • Either way all AKs are all Kalashnikovs.

  • @nbenicewicz At the end of the day, yes.

  • who gives a fuck? its still an AK

  • @doggbiter Dude, it's a little bit of info and history. No hostile intents, I swear.

  • @KevCal510 If it is milled then its a 47 type.

  • @KevCal510 Yeah, early M70 production were a milled 47 type. Most M70s (mid to late production) were stamped AKMs.

  • @KevCal510 I didn't think the M-70 was milled but the 60 series were.

  • @KevCal510 Sounds like an early 1960s Zastava M 60 or 64, an AK-47 clone.

  • @KevCal510 Is it an M60?

  • oh wait u forgot to put ur finger in the chamber for all the safty sallies.... nise vid man. Learn something every day

  • @503Gunslinger You're right, the Sally Squad will be on my ass now, LOL. Glad you learned something new.
