Awfully, awfully young audience. I've followed TFF since their first album backin 1980; seems like a million years ago, and so many young people have discovered them. That is so very awesome. And to answer a previous poster, they are best friends (after having split up and reuniting in '05). They're both married with children. No, they're not gay. They are both 49 years old (and as hot as ever!). Both born in Britain; Curt, the "blond" is now a U.S citizen. Roland still lives in U.K.
can anyone tell me what are they relationship? are they friends, brothers? are they.. gay? i realy want to know cuz ive listen to them oftenly and i dont know what or why are they together.
@MrRaserei : hi. They certainly not gay. They are happily married to women and have kids. Roland has two boys and Curt has two girls. They've been friends since they were 13 yrs. old and co-founders of the great 80s band called Tears for Fears.
it's great that they reunite again! i'm one their biggest fan of them back here in manila philippines! hope they will perform here too! they're great talented guys!
TFF will live on forever even if they never produce another album together. I thought they were great back in the 80's and they still are. I likes the radio stuff but loved the stuff that never got to the radio.
I'm with you. I saw them this past summer and man they are so great live. Have you had a chance to see them?? They are set to tour starting in April '10. Anyone can go to Curt Smith's site to get the lastest info and tour dates aobut TFF plus as an added bonus you get to check out some of Curt's solo work and see how he connects with his fans. Just google Curt Smith to get to his offcial site. Curt is also on Twitter & Facebook. I wish Roland had a site.
:D :D No,I've not had that honour :) YET- I'm hopefully going to TFF and Spandau in April next year @ Syndey. oooh yeaa
:)
I KNOW tell me about it!!!!!! I've been all over the place with the TFF sites, I know about those... and one mustn't forget the MySpace one, where he represents TFF (rrrr.... :P) but ROLAND!!!!!! soo needs one. I treasure his 'on the road' blog. :D :D probably the closest thing to a website we're going to get... closest thing to heaven, that is. :P :P
This was the only song that I knew of that not only gave Margaret Thatcher a great big FUCK YOU at the time but it was also an anthem of sorts for disenfranchised youth.
wow, Im a HUGE TFF fan but I gotta say, this is a little hard to sit through. Roland sounds like poo. He has one of the most wonderful voices on the planet. Perhaps he's just having a bad day vocally speaking. Curt usually sounds bad live, but Roland usually sounds like himself. Not this time Raoul.
@bobaflashgordon : that's not even true. Both Roland and Curt (and the rest of TFF band) usually ARE good live. Roland is an amazing singer and i'm with you in saying that he probably is one of the greatest vocals live or/and recorded ever lived, but to say Curt usually sounds bad live is just downright unfair.
Shout was the anthem of my pre-teen years. I was 9 when SFTBC was released. I still think that this is the most important song that Roland and Ian Stanley ever wrote. Not only is it a song of protest against society circa 1985 but it also sends an important message and that's if something is bothering you from a political POV then you should raise a really big stink about it and you shouldn't give a shit about what other people think.
One aspect of this whole footage of Paris that I didn't like (I have the entire DVD by the way) is that there are unnecessary parts. Really, instead of focussing on the band more than anything... it captured side-views, video effects, shots of good-looking girls... I mean come on! We are not here to look at only those things. If you look at the concert footage of other bands or even some TFF concerts in the past, you'll understand what I mean. There should be some sensibility.
Like most "older" bands, their youthful enthusiasm isn't as present as when they originally captivated audiences in their heyday. While their present performances don't have that magical "80's" feel to it, the band has evolved into something much more graceful and nonetheless highly entertaining.
Wowowow- wait a MOMENT- did you say tFF isn't a lyrics band?? Oh, my friend!!! agreed, 'shout' isn't the most ...lyrical (for lack of better terms :P ) but it sure is articulate. :D but their other material!!!
So many bands way back from the '80's that can still kick-ass in concert. I mean ... here is a live performance; how the hell does it get any better than this? fan-bloody-tastic! Thank you for sharing this!

Or maybe he's putting an entirely new flavour into the song that he hadn't thought of before?
CelesteK 3 years ago
yeah...no. It really seems like he's struggling through this one. Just tired vocal chords I suppose.
