@nullwii Most drag racers try to keep the same amount of fuel in the tank for every pass to keep the weight of the car the same. The more fuel you burn out as the event goes on the faster the car may run.

To answer some questions, this is at Englishtown, NJ. I believe it is a drag radial car. In that class they do not use wheelie bars and are rather heavy. No slicks, a drag radial for a tire. The fastest ones have dipped into the 6's at over 200 MPH. So they have a ton of power and when the tire hooks up, hold on! It has nothing to do with a wing, they can't use one anyway. Also, stock Mustang suspensions work great on a drag strip, that is why everyone uses one in drag radial.

You will find that most of the world has copied the American system of drag racing rules, especially when it comes to fire and rescue. Those fire marshalls took too long to get to the fire and they did not take enough positive action to control the fire. By the way fuel cell fire can be controlled by CO2. I tell you....I would see to it that this track got shut down after this....they did not have adequate support team or fire fighting equipment there for this situation. While I understand you can't possibly prepare for EVERY situation, this was just a simple fire that was allowed to get out of control due to the lack of proper equipment..Since you can't sue due to signing the release I would have them shut down

Like the announcer says, fuel keeps coming out of the cell. A rollover fuel cell vent cost me I think around $20 for my bracket dragster. It has a check ball on the inside of the cell that seals the vent in case of a rollover. A $20 part could have saved that car.
