His phrasing is sort of a mess in places -- no need to breathe where he is choosing to. I think it is a lack of support causing the wide vibrato and a few pitch problems. It's a big voice -- perhaps he hasn't yet learned how to completely control it.
@gdj064 This is an implication, from someone jealous, that he has been castrated. This young man is simply blessed with a talent very few will ever have!!
i think, this guy is just good, i enjoyed it, especially his high pitches, it just tickled me............i wish i could be his friend, cos i sing alto too.....lolllllll

I'm sorry, but this is laughable. Why, in the world, would this director inflict this on us? If I were in that audience, I know I would have embarrassed myself by guffawing out loud. Stick to basses or mezzos on this piece.
I think his interpretation is too operatic for this piece. That said he does seem to have a big voice especially for a countertenor which is a good thing. And I agree that his vibrato is too present. He definitely has talent though. Just need some fine tuning perhaps...
Pretty voice; though there is a huge vibrato (almost can't tell the difference between the line and a trill).... also, there seems to be NO tonal center on many of the ornaments... What would Handel think??? hmmm....
I absolutely love the bright tone and how I can really tell what your diction is. Diction seems to be a lost art today.
Only constructive thing I have to say is during the slow sections, I would really like to some more legato. It seems many phrases aren't very smooth due to consonant clipping or note hopping. Otherwise brilliant!
Why the vibrato, i can decide if it's clear or not.

Great Job!!!

I preferred his 'O thou that tellest', it seemed to suit his voice better, and he seemed more in sync with the orchestra then as well.

He is incredibly handsome. His voice is full and operatic. I loved the obvious happiness that his face betrayed as he sang.

I remember when I saw him at this concert. He is very good. This video does not give him justice.
