@kris1991 all the internals which would cost you another pretty penny..and maybe it might get to the 400 rwhp range but that will cost you over 10k in upgrades for the mustang..while it cost you 3k to get 400rwhp in the 335i dude.

@dijhili What you fail to mention is the fact the the 335i has 2 turbos so you can't just say it like they are both N/A. An engine with FI at anything near 15 psi has effectively doubled the N/A or static displacement of that engine. It is a HUGE win for Ford when the 2011 Mustang GT went toe to toe with one of BMWs best handling production cars going straight and on turns. You don't want to see what a set of twins does to a 4.6 or 5.0L at 1/2 of the boost and still on 93 octane.

The 335i loaner I had from the dealer retailed at $50k. $25k will get you into a mustang, and leave $25k for mods. But the 335i isn't about outright 40-120 mph acceleration, which is what the bandwagon makes it to be with a "tune." It's one of the best cars in the world, because it does everything well. It's NOT a sports car, and it doesn't belong on a track. Its purpose is on the street for daily driving. That's why it was built. And it does that extremely well. So stop ruining them!
And if you want to talk about prices, yeah turbo cars are initially cheaper to get power out of than naturally aspirated cars. But there comes a point where more boost will actually hurt performance; the air is so hot and compressed (compounded with the extra drag of the exhaust turbine) that you make less power (exceeding the volumetric efficiency of the turbos)... not to mention more wear and tear. So after simply turning up the boost, the 335i is expensive to modify.
Stock for stock, yes the 335i is faster... but the mustang had 4.10's.
I get tired of the 335i bandwagon that preaches about how their sacred car is somehow "faster" than exotics with a simple tune. The only thing it will be good at is posting 40-120 mph times. It will die on a track. Even a stock 335i can't handle the stresses of more than a couple track laps. It also lacks a limited-slip diff, and doesn't have the rubber in the back to put down more than stock power.
I've killed every GT Mustang I've come up against. Everything from 0 - 60+ to freeway runs going from 70-120+ with a completely bone stock 335i. I'll gladly show any Mustang if they don't believe me. The BMW has a ~4.6 0-60 with no modifications and if you spend a couple hundred on a JB+ tune you can take everything that isn't an exotic. Spend $500 on the JB3, and you can take those too. 335's are one of the most underrated cars out there, and you don't have to live with driving a cheap Ford ;)

The 335i loaner I had from the dealer retailed at $50k. $25k will get you into a mustang, and leave $25k for mods. But the 335i isn't about outright 40-120 mph acceleration, which is what the bandwagon makes it to be with a "tune." It's one of the best cars in the world, because it does everything well. It's NOT a sports car, and it doesn't belong on a track. Its purpose is on the street for daily driving. That's why it was built. And it does that extremely well. So stop ruining them!

And if you want to talk about prices, yeah turbo cars are initially cheaper to get power out of than naturally aspirated cars. But there comes a point where more boost will actually hurt performance; the air is so hot and compressed (compounded with the extra drag of the exhaust turbine) that you make less power (exceeding the volumetric efficiency of the turbos)... not to mention more wear and tear. So after simply turning up the boost, the 335i is expensive to modify.

Stock for stock, yes the 335i is faster... but the mustang had 4.10's.
I get tired of the 335i bandwagon that preaches about how their sacred car is somehow "faster" than exotics with a simple tune. The only thing it will be good at is posting 40-120 mph times. It will die on a track. Even a stock 335i can't handle the stresses of more than a couple track laps. It also lacks a limited-slip diff, and doesn't have the rubber in the back to put down more than stock power.

I've killed every GT Mustang I've come up against. Everything from 0 - 60+ to freeway runs going from 70-120+ with a completely bone stock 335i. I'll gladly show any Mustang if they don't believe me. The BMW has a ~4.6 0-60 with no modifications and if you spend a couple hundred on a JB+ tune you can take everything that isn't an exotic. Spend $500 on the JB3, and you can take those too. 335's are one of the most underrated cars out there, and you don't have to live with driving a cheap Ford ;)

Nice runs. That intake really did wonders for the turbo Bimmer. Get that BMW tuned and it ought to pull pretty good on the GT. I've got a similarly modded 09 GT and run 13.0 at 108, so that 335 ought to be running 12s soon!
