Just when I thought I heard every conceivable Fleetwood Mac song, I come across one I never heard. Thank you for creating in Lindsey. It's beautiful. - Joel 30/m/ny
@neorich59 Am i right in thinking they were actually a couple before Fleetwood mac, i know they were a duo before mac, the way they sing to each other on 'Say Goodby' you can tell there must have been someting between them in the past, only 2 people that were in love with each other at some stage in their lives can pull that off.
Yep they were a couple before F'Mac and it's pretty well documented that they were in the middle of a break up during the making of Rumours, as were Christine & John McVie.
It's often argued that, that's what gave Rumours it's "edge," and which contributed to it's intensity and immense sales as what they were going through came out via the vinyl..and, I agree there's always going to be this "thing," between them, it's one the reasons they're still so good to watch live! ;O)
@neorich59 Do you think the song 'say goodbye' was Lindsey saying he has finally come to the conclusion that they would never be together ?? 'Once you said goodbye to me, now i say good bye to you', & what you said about the Rumours makes sense cos even in 'Say goobye' he sings too her...'Its hard to find your way, when the liars come around'
I think he'd come to that conclusion many years before and has been happily married, for many years, but maybe it's like first loves and all that, difficult to forget about, particularly when you spent huge amounts of time in the company of that person years after it's supposedly all over and done with?
There's a great DVD called "Destiny Rules," which documents the making of the last Mac album which gives an insight into their ongoing "issues," ;O)
@neorich59 Thanks i will look out for that, i've been a big fanof F/mac fan since 1974 have seen them in concert a few times over the yearsStevie nicks is still stunning and not lso her voice at all but i do find it difficult to listen her solo stuff (altho its still awesome)
I didn't get into them till about a year after "Rumours," was the number 1 album for about as long.
I'm a total Mac-fan, have all the albums since Lindsey & Stevie joined apart from when Lindsey left, all their solo stuff and the more recent album and have seen them 2x in recent years and wasn't disappointed.
There was a time when Stevie was close to losing it, but, thankfully got herself sorted in time.
Would love them to put out the early Buckingham/Nicks album on CD/download.
@BaronVonBielski What song would you have taken off the Mirage album to put this in place of it! The only other choice was to probably make a double-album, that usually don't sell that well--except for the early 70's, and my musical hero, Dan Fogelberg, The Innocent Age, in 1981! But, I think double or triple albums were basically gone with the advent of the 80's! But, I like you, am a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, so I feel your pain! Sincerely, BobbyK
I feel this song isnt about being in control of letting go, its seems to be more about things becoming impossible and having to let go. None of us can know who loved who the most or who was reaching for who and pulling away from who.I hear a man filled with regret and loss of love, but we hear it as a strength because it is delt with via a song, beautiful songs. Imagine if the only way you could undertand a feeling was to write a song about it . . . man they make themselves so vulnerable . . .
The band (like most) has a history of mashing up it's members like original member Peter Green who went a bit crazy ape bonkers (do yourself a favour and checkout Fleetwood Mac Need your love so bad 5*+) to see the big man in action. Genius.
I read in an interview Stevie did, that she said her & Lindsey lived together for 6years! & that she cooked, cleaned and did his laundry. She said that's the closest she's ever gonna get to knowing how married life would have been like :(
TMZ! I don't watch that crap! Plus they never talk about real bands! All they talk about is britney & Jonas Brothers! Plus Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band! I saw them May 23 live!! :D
Don't let that silly old fool suffocate your own opinion. Who the heck does it think it is to go around telling people not to say bad things about a band and who cares whats ok in it's book when judging by the comments of others on it's channel it likes nothing more than to go around writing comments that rub people up the wrong way and then cowardly removing it's comments like a snide creep. Be aware and God bless. No need to respond.
I wasn't talking anything bad about this band! This band is the best! Plus I was talking to someone else about an interview Stevie gave once about what she thought of married life! So don't think I'm putting them down, Cus i'm not! Come one Mac fans gotta stick together Lol :)
You are the one who asked people to "judge people by their music" lol how? So shall we judge Ike turner as a nice guy because he do some tunes or by the evil he did when snorting coke and battering his wife you limp wristed fool. Judge people by their music lmao wtf does that even mean and the more educated start a sentence with a capital letter. Do you also mean that all religious people are stupid and by definition all non religious people are not stupid?
Other than you are a limp wristed fool I have not come to any conclusions which is why I asked you questions. If I were you I would seek an english tutor. Therapy never really made across the pond we British as a nation have never been manic enough for such nonsence to become a trend.
Well done I grade you a D- for observation however I must now deduct a grade for "youll and outa" so it's a E-. I have a couple of American friends here in London who have both been hospitalized when they first came here and both noted that in America the shouting goes on for ages and then there "maybe a fight" where as in England you get your face smashed in the second you get gobby. I was also told this when I lived in Amsterdam by many American friends that I have. So i doubt this.
Also when I watch UFC UK v US I cannot help but notice the diffrence between the faces of the American fighters and the Brits with the Americans beat to fuck with their teeth knocked the fuck out and the Brits only losing through pussyhole grappling maneuvers. So again I doubt this
To right we lose to many in "friendly fire" when you go nuts under the pressure (maybe they miss their therapist) lol (when did we even call anyway you never heard of Pearl Harbour). I would give you a lesson in history like how you are still under Britsh rule but it would probably ruin you both financially (therapist bills) and mentally (vicious circle) so I will give you a clue Rothschilds. I also know the truth behind all the revolutions and wars but will go along with this for a laugh.
Your boring me now with your silly non corresponding reply's you offer no challenge. So to end it I would like to suggest a song you may like that I have already suggested and that is Fleetwood Mac - Need you love so bad. Sixtiesfreak1 is the best quality one. Let me know what you think. Take care.
Maybe i'm obsessed, but I think every song he ever wrote since they split is pretty much about Stevie. So much of his stuff his happy and sad and full of longing. Out Of The Cradle is so sad and beautiful, I'll happily stand corrected, but they both grew big egos, both felt threatened by each others success, and have both spent half a lifetime in healthy denial, producing beautiful songs because they are both so talented they can never stop, but oh if they had stayed together . . .
I agree. I think if they were still "Buckingham Nicks" they would have stayed together. Joining FM must have put a masive strain on their relationship. Oh they would have had such talentted kiddies!!:P
whos is carol.??? is he nuts.??no women can compare with stevie!!...i grew up in the 80's ..so i dont know nottin about their history togheter.. what the hell happend to them.??? they are soo good togheter!! they are both good lookin/great singers/writers/..how can they not stay togheter.????..
stevie is an awesome artist and they were great together i agree, but the problem is, that stevie did not respect lindseys personal identity. she wanted him to be completly wrapped up in her with no regard to his desires or what he wanted and then there was all of the drugs

i will alway like stevie. I definitely think this song is about Stevie just listen to the lyrics. He was still with Carol at this point though but obviously things were still going on behind the scenes with Stevie and Lindsey.
i agree, i think it was about the fall that she took with her voice. she lost her false-seto. but, when they got back together in 97 you can hear some restoration in her voice.

What a pity you can't download this, I'd do it in an instant, but have been unable to find it, at all.
Watched a documentary recently which totally turned my thoughts on Buckingham/Nicks on it's head.
I'd always assumed that she'd spent the last 20 years, or so, pining after him and pouring it into her songs.
This documentary seemed to suggest that it was the other way around.
