I've literally been listening to this band since before there was such a thing as "scene." Or at least much before it was a thing. This isn't scene music.

Some of the technical aspects that exist in a lot of good metal (say Mastadon) aren't here, but I think they do a fine job of replacing them with other technical aspects. The fact that you don't understand the music doesn't mean there's nothing to understand. And "just noise" is pretty far off here if nothing else...
