Ummm it is wireless say you have a desk or in your car ( the Pre is held on it by magnets) all you have to do is set it on it which takes all of 2 seconds. I'm a Mac user, and had the 3G but the palm is by far better. Oh and btw you can hook it up in your car on the dash with some double sided Velcro or w/e you want to use and charge it and have GPS right there can your iphone do that? FOR FREE? lmao
A wire connects the charging unit to a power source. So it is not wireless. And YES if I want the wireless (but not really wireless because the power source is connected by a wire) I can by the one they make for the iphone, velcro it to my dash (I am not stupid enough and my car is too nice to velcro anything to my dash - ever.) Seeing as how the iPhone dock is contact-on-contact, it isn't on the same "plane" as the magnetic induction principle. The contacts sometimes become dirty, or wear. You can put the pre on in any orientation, and it charges. Plus the touchstone charging is faster in comparison with using the usb method. With the magnet, you can still have your phone in a case or protective pouch, and the electricity still gets through. Cover your contact port, and let me know how your phone is in the morning!
It is Sprint Nav but unlike ATT it is modified ( unlike the ATT NAV currently in the app store) for the Palm Web OS. And other companies can make what they want for the phone. Like Garmin or TomTom.
In the 2 years I have had iphone and the 6 years I have owned ipods, I have never had a problem with contacts becoming dirty or wearing out. I would have to say this is the best palm charger yet, i had 3 different palm phones, and this new wireless charger works like a charm, all i do is just place it on the dock, no connecting or anything.
one thing I have to say. Working at a cell phone place that fixed cell phones one of the most common issues were charging ports. People would be to abusive or careless and quite often break the ports. A wireless charger would greatly help this.

Ah, now there's something. The Pre doesn't come with the ability to use the induction charger. It requires a back unit to be placed on it. So I guess there isn't any space being taken up by induction coils... until you stick the back plate on it.
Yes, astonishingly Palm's much vaunted Touchstone induction charger requires a special backplate for the Pre and it costs 70 US dollars. You can buy an electric toothbrush with precisely the same kind of charger for twenty bucks. Shameful.
I have no respect for iphone at all cuase they lack a lot of standard features like copy&paste, removable battery, real keys not ghost keys, video camera, and i can keep goin on and on but my remaining character count is almost gone.
it has copy paste now (3.0) lol, a removable battery would mean less battery time. Phones with built in batteries usually last longer, a good example is the new 17 inch MacBook Pro. Also i prefer "ghost" keys, i can type really fast on it. Video camera i would like though.

If you pay any attention to engadget or tech news in general, you'd know that many others have been able to test the phone out and show what it's like. For example, BoyGenius Report tested it and said the OS was amazing, while the hardware felt cheap. That's something I can live with. It's all about the OS and apps.

I live in the UK and we have one carrier Sat Nav on phones, Sprint isn't in the UK either so it doesn't affect me. The carrier sat nav is also charged for on a monthly bases. Tom Tom is a one of charge, you can add extras if you want so it's better value. Plus I have no idea when the Pre comes to the UK.
