@1990Bourne ASSK did NOT lose the elections.Infact her NLD Party won the '90 elections by Landslide Victory but the Military refused to recognize the results & arrested,imprisoned several hundreds of ELECTED MPs,representing NLD..That is the cause of Western SANCTIONS on Burma. In 2010, NLD simply refused to register for elections due to the grossly UNJUST, and UNFAIR election laws, favouring the ex-generals dressed as politicians. @maraleia7 yeah its great a woman completely funded by the US government and corporate funded foundations (page 15 of Burma Campaign UK 's report "Failing the people of Burma?") referring to her own country by its British colonial name - a name its people have fought long and hard to change.
