  • all AMERICANS should be thrown out of Iraq AND ALL THE COUNTRIES AROUND IRAQ SHOULD HELP KURDS AND OTHER MUSLIMS AND WE SHALL HAVE A UNITED MIDDLE EAST.

  • all Iranians should be thrown out of Iraq

Iranian officials have recently threatened to assassinate Iraqis they consider as enemies in Iraq, this is a declaration of war and the borders with Iran should be sealed off to prevent those crazy terrorists from killing Iraqis

  • All we need to do is get out of Iraq, they are begging us to leave. Maybe there will be a civil war, maybe not, but if there is one they will handle it.

  • you cant just walk out of there like nothing happened. You have to finish what you started leaving iraq is the dumbest thing they could do right now.

  • That was interesting. Insurgents would have beheaded the guy and dumped it in the Euphrates. Insurgent questioning is far more efficient. 57 days vs only one day if that. Then off with the head, not freedom out of human decency.

  • Excuse me? Is the treatment of the insurgents the benchmark that the US administration tries to keep up with?

Oh wait, yes I remember now, Abu Ghraib was done by us guys, the civlized of this world! Grow up and appreciate wrong when it's done. Some Iranian diplomats are STILL being held illegally, almost an year after their abduction. If we apply your standards, the British sailors story was a total joke. They were blind-folded at most. Would you agree it was media propaganda against Iran?

  • MINGOI311: Part one: The whole region has been destabilized. That sadistic regime of Sadaam and his two sons used their iron fist to keep a lid on the Islamic mentality. How many Buddhists, Hindu's, or others religions go around blowing up people, not to mention cutting off heads and endless torture... All in the name of Allah? They all claim Allah while they do that to each other and everyone else. Not much of a religion if you ask me.

  • Captain, did you say keep Saddam's method of power was intended to keep a lid on the Islamic mentality? Perhaps, it has not occured to you that there are Christians in Iraq who have a longer history with Christianity than most of Europe? Did Saddam gas the Kurds because they had Islamic mentality? My dear, save yourself the shame. Has it also ever occurred to you that these so-called Muslims have killed more Muslims than any non-Muslims that they will ever kill?

  • Can you in your right senses compare the death of 3000 Americans to over 1000000 Iraqis? If anyone has a right to claim to be the victim of terror, I would say the Iraqis have a greater claim than the Americans -- and I say this with the utmost respect and sympathy for Americans and the relatives of those murdered on 9/11.

  • You are an educated and learned person. The Iraqi people are the biggest victims of terror, from themselves. The USA should not have invaded Iraq. Bush had a vendetta. Too late to change. I feel the only peace for Iraq is if an iron fist takes the guns and puts a lid on. If a people are able to handle a democracy, it will come by itself. The USA works because of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.

  • If one looks at the nationalities of those who blow themselves up in Iraq, most of them are foreigners to Iraq - predominantly from Saudi Arabia (almost a half of these suicide bombers, others argue the number is higher). In any case, it would be wrong to say that Iraqis do not want peace.

  • Further, Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Seestani the highest religious authority of the Shias has explicitly declared that he does not wish to partake in the political scene nor in any form of governance. The majority of Iraqis want the government & the constitution to respect the laws of Divine Religions & especially Islam which is the most followed religion in the country - Ayatollah Seestani has met with Iraqi Christian leaders on many occassions. This is no different to the US or European countries.

  • The real problem in Iraq at the moment is the sectarian conflict. The origin of this problem was the system put forward by the US occupation when it came to the splitting of power. No one who sincerely speaks about democracy would split a country into three blocks - unfortunately this is exactly what the US did and what we see today are the after effects of that catastrophic mistake, intentional or unintentional does not make a difference for all those who have lost their lives.

  • That is what a democracy is where all are represented. The three you speak of... shiites, kurds and sunni? To say only the Shiites can rule, is like saying only the whites in America can rule. The bottom line is, if a people can handle a democracy, it will come by the peoples own power. Iraqi people have suffered horribly. Overall in the big picture, Saddam's iron fist kept the peace. They lived in fear, but not blown up by outsiders.

  • Far from Shiites being the only ruling power, I am saying the whole sectarian set-up to the constitution/government was wrong. I agree that Saddam's iron fist policies worked relative to what we have now. But this absolute disaster that we have on our hands now should not delude us into thinking that the fate of the Iraqis rests in the rule of dictators. Governments don't get created in vaccuums or on drawing tables.

  • And I totally agree that democracy is largely a system of 'management' that requires the assent of the people. Precisely why a democratic government cannot be created on a drawing board. The problem however was that the US in its presentation of the 'model of democracy' loaded it with sectarianism.

  • To mingoi313: It really sucks what is going on in Iraq. Separation of church and State works here, There is no separation in Iraq's attempt at democracy... I feel most there want it. You are a thinker, I respect your thoughts. I have no more insight to add, I have reached my limit. I am just a blue collar guy that expends much of my time and energy trying to make a living and pay my taxes. Peace to you,

  • I'm certainly not a 'thinker' in its definitive usage. In fact I'm pretty much in the same position as you are in; only difference being that I'm trying to make ends meet whilst studying. In any case, I value your comments and share some of your thoughts on the issue. Let's just hope things get better for all concerned.

btw I should add I'm still soul-searching for some direction too. :)

take care and farewell until next time.

  • mingoi313: Please review "sectarianism" on wikipedia on line encyclopedia.

  • MINGOI311: Part two: And the people you say the US still has... yeah, you can bet that they are kept tied up in a basement while being slowly killed by broken bones and gun shots to the ankles... NOT

  • It strikes me that you are increasingly judging the standards of ethics that the US is meant to abide by in relation to the standards of thugs and terrorists. You make the point that many in the world today are making, by the way, so you are not alone.

The man featured in the report is living evidence of the inhumane treatment by the US of detainees, the record on secret renditions and torture is well documented & I would recommend that you spend some of your time reading that.

  • Just a slight trivial correction if I may, its mingoi313 and not 311. :)

  • starcatcher099 :Two wrong doesn't make one right, religion is our belief and way of life and we don't need to separate people from each other just base on there religion, this is dangers thoughts, deep inside me I think all human beings can live peacefully beside each other and learn from each other .we need peace in this world more then air we breath. We need love and understanding. Give love to another's and you receive it ten times more.

  • starcatcher, you strengthen my point with each comment you make. Let me remind you of other wiped out civilizations, do the Red Indians or the Natives ring a bell? May be the European expeditions in civilizing the barbarian Nubians of Africa was an ethical exercise. If it hasn't hit home yet, and I doubt it ever will with the state you are in, power thirsty criminals will use any label under the sun to justify their acts.

  • starcatcher, you obviously believe in moral relativism and suffer from some form of a narcissistic disorder. The cause that is often given for this attitude is some sort of pyschological experience causing disenchantment from reasoning. I feel for you and hope you get well soon.

  • starcatcher099 :A Persian philosopher said ; mankind are the organs of same buddy, in creation are from same essence, if one of organs come to ailment, other organs can not stay in stability, you Hume don't care about another's suffering, you are not worthy of calling your self human.

  • No mater were we are from, the blood running in our wanes is red, nobody is better or worst just by existence, but our behavior differ in showing of understanding humanity.

Torturing people just because they don't believe our point of view is disgusting no mater who or for what. I am disgusted by this action of so called land of free. Now they can call themselves land of torture.

  • Just incse you did not know, there are 30 million GAYS in America [something not even animals do], one rape is committed very 30 seconds, incests is epidamic, and women are literally having sex with their dogs.. Open your own eyes and look at your country first before judging others...

  • so to you 1.6 billion of the world, 1 in 4, are dogs because of their religion? You should be ashamed of yourself. I dont care about what one author wrote, I care about Quran and the prophets sayings and such activity, and homosexuality ar totally forbidden

  • And the US and UK are complaining about the treatment of the 15 british sailors.. what a joke when they treat muslims worse than dogs and pigs
