@thedagonJones: So what are you trying to use that to justify men having sex with other men? If that is your aim....i must tell you,you are insane. To even suggest that Jesus had sex with a boy is wicked and Satanic, not to mention desperate.
GOD's original plan for sex was limited to sex between a man and woman. GOD made it feel good so we would want to do it for the purpose of creation. If done in the will of GOD sex is a most beautiful act.....for this reason the Bible itself says "the bed between a man and woman or husband and wife is undefiled". Paul says "it is better to marry then to burn in lust". Sex as we know it to day is out of control and that is why there are so many STDs because it is being misused. I myself am gulity.
"Simon Peter said to them: Let Mary go forth from among us, for women are not worthy of the life.Jesus said: Behold, I shall lead her, that I may make her male, in order that she also may become a living spirit like you males.
For every woman who makes herself male shall enter into the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel of Thomas 114.
Jesus talks here.Rome did not put this in the cannon, but it is Jesus speaking.

I don't believe in God but I really like this guys message, though I would be interested in hearing his views on the same being without the institution of marriage, i.e among homosexuals.
This is what I need to see! I've read Joshua Harris's book on kissing dating goodbye and dating is overrated. I want to get to know a woman on a far deeper level than just what's offered in this world!
I am still fuzzy on this concept of wasting and preserving sexuality like it is a commodity that is in short supply. Perhaps some empirical evidence would shed some light on this.
What if your addicted to porn? I started watching porn pretty young. My mom took me to church when I was kid, and I heard the Pastor talk about how porn is evil and I would go to hell if i didnt stop, so I started to feel scared and ashamed. I couldnt stop, and the religious factor kept telling me that I was dirty. This just strengthened the addictions hold on me, and eventually evolved into depression and an anxiety disorder, so I think you zealots should change your approach.
Its a shame that you need god so much to be so driven in anything that you do or feel. Im afraid its an illusion chap, yes there are things that we dont know about or that we can not explain, and some of these things we will never get to be able to explain. Somethings dont need explaining, such as love or our individuality. Grow a pair and live your life for you, and not for 'a' god. Its delusional and denial. Sorry to sound so cliche, but christianity has a lot to answer for
@Pikesterful So what do you like? being a whore and having aids. Sinning and killing other people. cursing and talking down on God's children. What have you done to change yourself and this cold world? This guy in the video is legendary because he wont jump off a roof because everyone else will. He is a true leader and the one Jesus will call on.
@JohnnyRoastbeef21 - Hahaha, i know plenty of folk who dont do as everyone else, including myself,...and we dont need a god to do so. or religion. To be honest, i dont understand what point you are trying to make. You religious folk always have to get all dramatic and over board with your pathetic scenarios and extremism. Your lucky that i even answered your reply, i usually just say my peice and then move on, which is what i am going to do now, toodle pip !!!
@Pikesterful You are a follower until you accept Christ. I know the truth hurts but I got to give you a wakeup-call. If you don't believe in God you will go to hell. “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality”
@JohnnyRoastbeef21 - No chap, unfortunately wether you like it or not, i dont follow no one, certainly no god. I was lucky enough to be an individual who has a mind and body of his own and who doesnt beed to follow all the other sheep. I make my own way through life without the dellusional guidence of the god delusion. I am me, i will do what i choose and i shall go where ever i please, and not you or your god will have any control over me. lol
@Pikesterful Do what you want but once your in hell your there for eternity. Remember that Micheal Jackson is there and soon you will be there too if you dont shape up.
@JohnnyRoastbeef21 seriously? i'm sorry using the argument of 'once you're in hell....' on someone who doesn't believe in god? you actually know this isn't going to change his mind.... you're simply being mean in trying to make him feel bad......
@LittleTownBear21 Just be open-minded that's all I'm saying. Lust is a problem for everyone but this man is kind enough to give you advice on how to control it.
it's soo funny how unbelievers comment on these videos trying to cause a stir amongst Christians, poking fun at them and trying to prove the bible untrue. If the Bible is as dumb as you say/think it is, then why waste your time watching and commenting on Christian videos? What do you have to offer the world by your disbelief? Believing in Christ= Eternal Salvation, disbelief= rotting in a grave . . .what exactly are your motives?
@teesims21 "soo funny"?? The reason why "unbelievers" watch & comment is that the "Christianity" being offered is not a mystical/psychological way 2 increase health and harmony that's fully compatible with scientific investigation of the truth, but a variant of the Emperor Constantine's brilliant way 2 get the masses 2 obey by keeping their minds firmly in a state of childish Faith (ie believing the METAPHORICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL 2 be LITERAL) thus exploiting spiritual energies 4 political purposes.
As an Ex-born again Christian I think that I can give insight into this. The reason some unbelievers go after videos like this is that we believe many of the ideas being promoted by Evangelicals are harmful. We think that they can negatively impact those who don't share them (LGBT's harmed by religious bigotry most obviously.) There's also the fact that some of us know first hand that the "purity movement" can be damaging to the normal emotional/sexual maturing of young people.
@teesims21 Maybe the motivation is the desire for truth. Higher criticism is the ladder by which to reach the fruits of knowledge denied by apologetics. Do you think unbelievers will meet the Titans in Tartarus ( see 2 Peter 2v4 in original Greek)? What about Zeus will he be in heaven or Hades? How was Genesis Eden story of no death ever going to work ? The world would quickly become overcrowded with animals if none died. If evolution is true there can be no original sin
@zytigon . If evolution is true there can be no original sin. Of course there is no original sin. The concept of the original (if it were true) is the greatest injustice ever committed in human history. Why would you be responsible for the sins of your ancestors. This concept of the "original sin" is one of the best ideas to prove christianity is wacky, at best.
@teesims21 Because if the only purpose of life is for life, denying the fullest truth and extent of life is self-defeating and pointless. The full expression of life requires the recognition of it's nature and the ability to recognise life for what it is - whether that be in God, or in the pursuit of truth, or (yes) in selfishness; however that selfishness is achieved (and it's not always inherently bad.) I was redirected here, and I'm not someone who particularly aims to disprove God, but $0.02
@teesims21 Probably because we all think it's hateful, poisonous nonsense that needs to be eradicated immediately. And we hate to see people waste their life believing in fairy tales instead of in truth and logic.
@thedagonjones "Religion is man-made. Even the men who made it cannot agree on what their prophets or redeemers or gurus actually said or did." - Christopher Hitchens
We are talking about evolution on procreation. BIG difference....If monkeys evolved into humans....there would be no more monkeys. Evolution....Procreation....that argument holds no water and I will not respond again because a fool will not listen......so...have a nice life and continue in your ignorance.
Evolution makes sense? lol!! OK, if we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys? That, my friend, is not logical. (everything blew up and poof...here we are!) Very logical, very unbelievable...) If you get a chance to study up on Darwin, check out what his beliefs about his OWN theory were in his later years before his death....
and if you never believe in God, or Jesus it will not affect the fact of their existence....just say'n
@pastordenah Wow. If you've studied, it didn't "take". Perhaps you made the mistake of assuming your Faith was absolute truth before reading...
The Theory of Evolution does NOT say that, every time a new species arises (often by some sort of mutation), it instantly replaces all the other closely-related species. Historically, there continued to be enough ecological room on the planet for several variants to exist simultaneously. But, n.b. - extinctions DO occur when species compete directly...
you're an inspiration, i totally agree with your points and i've read your book "I kissed daing goodbye"...once again, I AGREE! i am a living experience of trying to live for God despite how difficult the road may be in dating and other things
People hate to learn what is really in the Bible and attempt to create version after version to justify their dream of what god actually is.
They like to deleat god wants rape victims stoned, childrens heads smashed and people sacrificed to YWHW.They do not want it revealed Paul wants all those Jews obeying circumcision to be also castrated.Gal5:12.They will not remove the woman caught in adultry tale.It was added 1,000ad.
@StrumstickJoe And remeber, I'm following a selfless man who laid his life down for many. One who taught forgiveness, and to love even your enemy, to count others needs greater than your own, helping the widows and orphans, donating sacrificially to the poor and needy. And while he was being murdered he prayed, "forgive them, for they know not what they do." That's what I'm living for, and this is my prayer for you Joe.
Your Jesus WAS murdered in the story – but it was a pre-ordained sacrifice, yes? I have never understood how that was supposed to have “saved” me. Honestly! If I had been there, I would have felt compelled to stop the execution.
Fortune go with you. I have no axe to grind with you, and wish you well.
@StrumstickJoe The Gospel message is simple, if there is a God, and he represents holyness and justice, then how do you think he see's you? Are you perfect? He cant just arbitrarily judge some and not others, he has to uphold justice. So he pre-ordained a plan of redemption for his people whom he loves. And took upon flesh in the form of his only son, as an attempt to reach you and I. Jesus was not sinfull, yet he became the propitiation of his wrath, which allows you and I to stand justified.
@swamislocal1 ...Why did "he" create stupid hammerhead sharks, and dodos; why dinosaurs (99% of the earth’s evolved life has become extinct); why a fungus that lives exclusively in an ant’s brain (to zombify it and kill it before growing a long tendril out of the head to latch onto other passing ants); why carpal tunnel syndrome, cancer cells and birth defects? Evolution can explain all this very well; creationism has a massive task so to do.
I don’t believe in your man-god, or that he taught anything. I know about forgiveness, it is often good – but my enemies, for example, the cowardly murderers of islam, will NOT be loved by me. You go love your own enemies.
@StrumstickJoe "or that he taught anything." Again this proves that is not an intellectual position that you hold. Your claim he never existed, he never taught anything contradicts historical and archealogical evidence. This includes secular historians who were NOT Christians. Not to mention the fact that never in the history of mankind has any one person made such an impact on this planet! Not even close! Like it or not Jesus rocked this world in more ways than we can comprehend.
@swamislocal1 “Jesus was not sinfull, yet he became the propitiation of his wrath, which allows you and I to stand justified.” - I find this statement completely incomprehensible. And not just because I don’t believe “his” existence. I don’t think a god “sees” me, let alone judges me. By what right would I be judged? Are I perfect?…. No, I am quite unwell, and also, I haven’t got the brain capacity I would like. Why would your creator create such an imperfect being?
@StrumstickJoe RIght on joe.Do you know who the snake on the pole was that God told moses to make so that the snake bitten hebrews could be healed?Sooo cool. That was a representation of Christ on the cross as he took the sins of the world upon himself. He was as unclean as satan at that point but; we know that the stain of sin would not stay upon someone as rightious as Jesus. And He was not condemed for those sins because He was sinless. What a saviour huh?
And even if they did, their own contradictions would destroy them.
The bible is an anthology of mythology. (Who had a virgin birth; 12 mates; execution and resurrection after 3 days? The ancient god Mithra! Centuries before the more well-known myth.)
Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus' name we pray that you cure them all, Amen.
Are you one of those people who believes in a magical world and an imaginary friend? Do you talk to him in the night? Read:Mark 11:24:, the words of JC himself:
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”… Then pray…
@swamislocal1 Even if your virgin birth story were true (and it isn’t, it’s plagarised), and your miracles, and your resurrection (and at “that time”, apparently, the local graves all opened and hundreds of dead walked the land – so there was a lot of it about!!) – even if all that were true, you would still have all your work ahead of you to prove that your hero was the “son” of your god. There is not only a giant leap of faith required to believe this stuff - there...
@swamislocal1 My dear old friend, I thought we had said all we could. I think we would agree to differ; if we don’t then we will still be firing back and forth when the Andromeda galaxy collides with the Milky Way to end what is left of this earth and its occupants. Where will your god be at that time?
@StrumstickJoe cont.. a misconception about God's nature and relationship with us, he's not a narsicistic dictator who needs his ego fluffed. If Heaven is holy and spotless perfection, I dont belong there. That's the point, God made a way to propetiate his wrath, and remain just. Take it or leave it, its a free gift. So rather than pointing your finger back into history, or arround this messed up world, why not check yourself and ask what's being done about the problem of evil in you?
@StrumstickJoe" You've heard nothing-learned nothing". My friend you dont know me, or who I was before I began following Christ. You can pre-suppose whatever you like, but the truth is a different story bud. God pulled me out of the muck and mire, a bad path that has consumed many friends who payed the ultimate price. I just found out a few weeks ago that another friend died at 34, just weeks after I tried to share the love of Jesus with him and help him get set free from bondage!
@swamislocal1 “he's not a narsicistic dictator who needs his ego fluffed” – yes he is..
“You shall have no other gods before Me”.. and vindictive..
I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me.”
If there were evil in me (and you are making an unwarranted (and insubordinate)
@StrumstickJoe cont... In the end you will choose your fate, accept his offering of love and eternal life in fullness of joy, or reject it and spend eternity apart from him. If we were created for fellowship with God, seperation would be misery. And that's why words such as "outer darkness, lake of eternal fire, hell, gehena, hades,"etc, are used to describe eternal seperation from God. Since fire is not darkness, it must be descriptive metaphors being used here.
@swamislocal1 “Grovelling”.. you get on your knees and worship, don’t you? That’s what I call it. And you want to do it for ever in mindless holy perfection, do you?! The only eternity belongs to the stars. Animals are mortal – but you’re welcome to your eternal life.
Forget me and look at the master Hitchens (and Cristina) Recognise intellectual reasoning far better than yours or mine. Good bye.
@StrumstickJoe cont... where I proved that supernatural explanations are required even in science. And now we're back on the morality subject of the Old Testament. O.K Be specific so I can answer your question objectively. I'll need a chapter and verse if your gonna refer to scripture. As for "eternal life of endless grovelling" I'd also like to see where your getting that in scripture.
I believe that God made us with free will, and we're free to choose to love or not....
@StrumstickJoe cont.... its like throwing 4 billion coins into the air, and having them all land heads up. You might say, "that's possible" but I bet if you saw it you'd say it was fixed, or a miracle. It's seems extremely arbritrary to say that the supernatural ressurection of Jesus is foolish, yet life in the universe, matter creating mind, and something coming from nothing is perfectly natural. O and I watched the video of the russian girl who cus's like a truck driver...Yawn...
@swamislocal1 …so therefore I am ;-) Humans so nearly didn’t make it out of Africa, we were down to a thousand or so. Yes, it’s a slim chance – but it’s a chance. Watch the BBC programme, and btw, I agree with you about Cristina’s swearing, totally unecessary, but at least she doesn’t advocate the slaughter of most of the tribes of Israel, or suggest that we flood the world to get rid of everyone except Noah’s family, or threaten us with eternal damnation if we disagree with her.
@swamislocal1 I am prepared to accept that the odds might be long. But your 4 billion coins analogy is definitely wrong. 1/10236 is really rather shorter than I would have said. There are 100s of billions of stars in the Milky Way, and there are hundreds of billions of “milky ways” so the chances of life could be a billion billion to one! Or more – and that would still mean the chance existed! I’ll take that –… I’ll take that – and I’m here, so therefore I am…
@StrumstickJoe Cosmologists and physicists generally agree the earth is 13-15 billion years old. According to this NASA expert Dr. Morrowitz, he concluded that in order for life to exist by chance it would have to have been trillions of years older! That's a considerable difference. Why do you consider your "a billion billion to one" odds to be more plausible than an intelligent designer. This seems to prove that it's not an intellectual decision, but rather a posture of the "heart".
@StrumstickJoe Stick to the topic of discussion Joe. The question was not what are the odds of human life existing by chance, it was what are the odds of life in the universe. And I've only been a Christian for about 7 years, so your "get em while they're young" slogan seems only to fit NAMBLA. Evolution is an ansulary point to this topic, since their are Christians on both sides of this topic, and one can interpret the "day" used in GEN of creation in different ways...
@swamislocal1 Religions always TRY TO “get them while they’re young” - and they do get some older converts too. Yes, you have to put very loose interpretations on the bible (and the others) because otherwise they would be recognised as fanciful nonsense! There have been many topics - most of which you've raised, and you talked a lot about odds. In all the worlds, in all the universe, however high the odds you calculate, there would be some places where life evolved - and this is one of them!
@swamislocal1 I believe I've raised a few things that you have been unable or unwilling to answer or comment on. If you're interested, look back and see. Here's more: The bible you love so much contains damning indictments of the god you love so much - and his "son" the messiah as well. How do you justify "his" racism, anger, and merciless nature? And why would you want eternal life in awe of "him" with his endless invigilation and your endless grovelling? Sorry to ask unanswerable questions.
@StrumstickJoe No Joe you've thrown handfulls of topics at me while I've made an effort to stick to the topic of dicussion without going down rabbit trails.1. I gave you evidence for the reason why I believe the Bible is God's word. 2. We discussed morality/evolution, and I stated that it is contradictory to say things like "everything evolved including morality", but it is objective, and events from thousands of years ago are good/evil. And we ended up on cosmology...
@swamislocal1 Hitchens is much better than me. Forget what I've said and look at a master. youtube.com/watch?v=We7DyKWw61I&feature=related You'll have to cut and paste that. And there are reams of stuff from him (and Cristina the Romanian lass) that would convert you to common sense. (You have to give them a fair hearing though!)
@swamislocal1 Why did neanderthal man go extinct? At what point was the “complete” adam created? None of it makes sense! It’s chance out of chaos.Your obvious ability to think for yourself is betrayed by your being stuck in the childhood of mankind. (Religions always “get them while they’re young”)
@swamislocal1 Why people persist with ID today can only be explained by indoctrination. Your last sentence betrays the common tendency of the dogmatist to reflect the accusations he expects to be directed at himself; my argument is always from intellect; gather them together and see. I would like to know at what point in the evolutionarry process you think your creator decided to create.
@swamislocal1 I don’t consider anything to be “more plausible” than an intelligent designer. I consider life to be plausible (evidenced by the fact that it is here!), and intelligent design to be a primitive, discredited proposal, which seemed plausible only in a world that had no knowledge of tectonics, electricity, bacteria et al.
@StrumstickJoe cont... from objectively view an event from history, such as Biblical events, and saying that it is objectively evil or good. Another problem with this theory is that when we look back into recent history, and currently the problem of evil on the planet, things dont seem to be getting better, morality seem to be declining, not evolving. I haven't watched the video yet, I'll check it out later. Have a morally nice day:)
@swamislocal1 Thanks. I had a good moral day today, and will have one tomorrow. I just watched "Wonders of the Universe - Stardust" (BBC) and wondered how any rational viewer of that programme could get or retain religion. Apart from that, it is a well-produced and wondrous production.
Anyone in the UK - take a look at that on iPlayer - others might have to wait till it appears in their country or for the DVD. The universe is wonderful and amazing - but it is not magical, and needs no miracles.
@StrumstickJoe "the universe is wonderfull and amazing- but it is not magical, and needs no miracles." Yes but life existing in the universe is nothing short of a miracle. NASA asked the question of "what are the chances of life existing in the universe" and hired theoretics expert professor Morrowitz of Yale, he concluded that the chances are 1/10236, to put this into perspective, 1/1050 means that an event couldn't have happened even once in 15 billion years! So its a bit like throwing ..
Glad you haven't. But your point evades ne. I would not say that something very bad can be good. Or agree with your statement that it could. I don’t care to revise my statement. Of course people are “moral”, we could not have made it out of Africa without some moral agreement on conduct.
I wonder who thinks that the awful Japan earthquake is the work of a moral god.
@StrumstickJoe I thought you gave up, because you didn't address this post to me, but I found it. You said "I would not say that something very bad can be good." My point is simple, who decides good or evil in the absolute sense. Evil, meaning a deviation from an intended purpose of good. How can we arrive at this without a moral law giver. God is the source, and he's revealed his Holy standard through general revelation(creation), conscience, and His written word.
@swamislocal1 You said, "How can we arrive at this without a moral law giver?" I say, that is insulting to all the ordinary, non-faith people who live perfectly moral lives. I don't need an umbrella (have you looked at Zomgitscriss yet - good, isn't she?) I wonder at what point in the evolution of life you think this god stepped in and said, "I think I'll create a sentient being with a million flaws, then watch him suffer for eternity."
@StrumstickJoe Firstly, can you honestly say you or anyone you know live "perfectly moral lives"? Second, whether or not you believe in God is irrelevant to the fact that he created you with intrensic value, and a moral conscience. Lastly, the topic of evolution is ansulary to this topic. But since you brought it up, enlighten me as to how objective morality fits in with this theory. If all evolved, including morality you have a dillema saying it is objective. Conversely, this prevents you..
I tried to post a message on "JH sermon jam" But I was censored. I'll try to post it here...
This message in this video implies that we want to go to a heaven (where we will be invigilated for ever and asked to sing the praises of an insecure god who needs all that stuff) Well that would be hell, wouldn't it? Unmitigated hell.
@StrumstickJoe unlike other holy books of antiquity. 3. The historical resurection of Jesus is a Truth claim that is backed up by countless respected scholars, and I even gave a source name(Simon Greenleaf) Professor of Law, Harvard, and the most respected man on the topic of evaluating evidence. This is a valid argument Joe, and I haven't even scratched the surface of fullfilled prophetic claims that are verifiable. Can you show me a book that is comparable? Yes or No, not "Goodness me" :)
@swamislocal1 The Hidus have a god who came to earth as man in a virgin birth, performed miracles and then was executed, after which he was resurrected – all this a thousand years or so before your story. There is no originality in all this rubbish, it is as convincing as Thor the god of thunder. You say that, although you cannot offer your “proove in a scientific way” you can offer….
@MrAsaphelps cont.. "pernicious and reprehensible." Dr. Bruce Metzger, professor of New Testament at Princeton.I'm pretty sure he has a good idea of linguistics, concerning the scriptures. Your assumption that the truth concerning scripture cant be known is false. So, what is the real reason you reject the authority of scripture?
@swamislocal1 Please cite your source for your information. According to Dr. Bruce Metzger, professor of New Testament at Princeton, your mistaken. The New Testament was oringinally written in Greek, then translated to english by a commitee of Biblical Greek language scholars who were selected for the purpose of accuracy. Please enlighten me about what you claim has been proven false in the Bible. This time do some research before you make your assumptions.
@swamislocal1 The bible was written by people (don't bore me with the "god done wrote it" rubbish) who had no knowledge of the solar system, diseases, electrical storms, tectonics, evolution. So, as a true account of anything, it stinks!
@StrumstickJoe What do you want? Should I say God signed the Bible and had it notarized to validate it? There's no way to prove it was inspired by God scientifically. But I will challenge you to show me an ancient book that's comparable. One that was similar to the fact that it consists of 66 books, by 40 different authors, written over a time period of more than 1500 years, on 3 different continents, and has the common thread of God's love for us by salvation through Jesus from front to back.:)
@swamislocal1 Well - there's the torah, from which the bible was plagiarized, and then there's the koran, which was plagiarized from both of the previous two. All of them the work of superstitious people, none of them containing the work or love of god, except by their own proclamation - which is (sorry!) not sufficient evidence for anyone who likes to think for himself. And thank you to the christians for their promise of my salvation, but I absolutely don't need it.
@StrumstickJoe The Cross=God's Love for humanity. "not sufficient evidence" Professor Simon Greenleaf of Harvard Law would disagree with you. He's only the most influential professor of law in history, and arguably the top authority on the subject of evaluating evidence. BTW the Qur'an doesn't even compare to the Bible in any category, especially historically. The Torah is part of the Bible, so that doesn't count. So you'll have to agree that the composition of the Bible is supernatural.
@swamislocal1 Goodness me! There's a serious lack of logic here! And you think I have to agree with it? If you begin an argument with a premise from the bible, then you have to support it independently - and I'm afraid the holy land is bereft of any evidence whatever for any of that stuff - so is Prof. Greenleaf (great name!)
If one could reason with the religious - there would be no religion.
@StrumstickJoe What, is that today's atheist daily devotion? With all do respect Joe, Greenleafs opinion on evidence holds more weight than yours.Have you looked into the evidence for the historical resurection of Jesus Christ? That point is ansulary anyway. I cannot scientifically prove that the Bible is God inspired, but my challenge in resonse to your claim still stands, which is show me another book that is comparable. Since you cannot, I'll have to assume you agree that it is supernatural.
@swamislocal1 Goodness me again! There's still a serious lack of logic here! And you still expect anybody rational to agree with it? You haven’t made an argument, you need badly proof of your fantastic claims – it’s not up to me to prove non-existence of something.
You may assume that I would believe in the supernatural if you want, but I don’t. And worship is a weird thing for someone to need every day. your god is extremely insecure.
@StrumstickJoe "you haven't made an argument" O.K you said that the Bible wasn't God inspired.. I said although I cannot proove in a scientific way that it is, I can offer facts surrounding the Bible that proove it's composition is supernatural. 1.It consists of 66 books written by 40 authors, during a time period of about 2000 years, on 3 continents, and has a cohesive message of salvation through Jesus from front to back. 2. Historically it stands the test of scrutiny as well...
@swamislocal1 …you can offer “facts surrounding the Bible that proove it's composition is supernatural.” Then you proceed to give nothing, labelled 1, 2 & 3.
Listen my friend – you wish to believe it, and with the wish comes the belief. But the bible is still an old, badly (though selectively) compiled collection of old plagerised fairy tales. I don’t need that book, nor any other, whether it is comparable or not. It is of no interest or requirement.
@StrumstickJoe Joe, you claim I didn't give you any facts surrounding my argument, but I did. This will be the 3rd time I share them.. 66 books, 40 different authors, time span of approx 2000 yrs, 3 different continents, and it has a cohesive message of salvation through Jesus from front to back. Those are 5 facts surrounding the Bible that put it in a category of 1. You have failed to provide me with a comparable book that meets these criteria, and therefore my friend The Bible=Amazing!
@swamislocal1 You're a bit stuck in your ways! There's no salvation for you, my friend. How your dubious "facts" support your argument, I can not see. I'm glad you've found a book you like, but don't rely on it to guide your life, there's far too much murder, racism and revenge in it. I can live without it, and prefer so to do. Don't you just hate the idea of permanent invigilance - even after you're dead - eternally? Give yourself a break. I wish you well.
@StrumstickJoe "You're a bit stuck in your ways!" Thanks, I am. And as Jesus said, "I am the way, the Truth, and the life"... So I guess I'm also stuck on Truth and life:) Thankfully I have a sound reason to be also. You brought up the topic of morality, which I would be happy to defend. Do you believe objective morality exists?
@swamislocal1 I actually don’t believe that Jesus said anything at all, that’s my opinion; I respect yours because you seem reasonable, and I object only to people who use their beliefs for violence, because they have the excuse that it is their god’s will. To your question,: do you I can be moral without gods? I know so. I am responsible for all I do. Here is a…
@StrumstickJoe You're theory that Jesus never said anything is laughable! But I wont address that one yet since we're talking about morality. My question wasn't "can you be moral without god's", It was, do you believe that objective morality exists? Btw, cool lyrics (fictionally speaking:)
@swamislocal1 I consulted friends to see if I was understanding your question. My answer is yes.
I don't believe in any outside influence, but I do believe that civilisation should (and does, largely) adopt morality for its own survival and comfort. BTW, isn't J.Harris smug and ingratiating?
@StrumstickJoe No my friend, I never give up! I've just been busy. Sorry for the delay, hopefully you haven't lost sleep over it. You said "yes" objective morality does exist, then you contradicted that statement by saying that civilization adopts its own morality. See the contradiction? According to that statement you would have to agree that the holocaust could have been good. Care to revise your statement?
@MrAsaphelps Actually you fall guilty to your own offense. He is talking about God's opinion/belief, and that's why it's profoundly wise. He is not the authority on the subject, God is and we know this through his word. You on the other hand have not truth source, and are forcing your belief on others by using insults.
Belief this idiot if you want, I don't care, if you want to save sex until marriage go right ahead. Also how can you claim to know God's words. Do you know latin and hebrew, have you read the original scriptures? What you know is the english version, which has been translated through so many languages that it is unlikely that is the exact same as it was before. Also there are so many different versions how do you know which one is right.
@MrAsaphelps This is a typical fallacy. The New Testament was translated from Greek to English. That is one iteration, only one bud. And believe me there's a commitee of Biblical language scholars on board for such work, including the different versions you mentioned.(ie;NLT,NASV, etc) For example I'll share one translation that was rejected by Biblical Scholars, and Classical Christianity. The NWT of the Jehovah Witness', characterized as a "frightfull mistranslation" and "erroneous,..
Actually it went from Latin/Hebrew(different parts were one or the other), then greek, then a variety of other languages(german, russian, etc) and then english. So that's actually 4, bud. Also this commitee are the same people that believe in the dumb book. If they were people who had other experience translating then I might believe them a bit more, but many have no had such experience. It really doesn't matter anyway cause much of the bible has already been proven false.
@MrAsaphelps explain 2 me how he forces his belief on u.YOU decided 2 watch d video.YOU decided to read this comment.God speaks 2 ppl through others,He doesn't "force".YOU always hv d freewill 2 make choices & as far as I'm concerned d fact dt u watched this means something. How does patterning ur life after JESUS CHRIST make you "pathetic." I'm a 19 yr old that loves helping ppl & it's due to d effects of "CHRISTianity." If dt makes me pathetic in ur eyes,so be it. Romans 1:16;John 3:16.
I never said he does force his beliefs on you, I said he is trying. Saying "You will burn in hell for all eternity if you don't do what I say" isn't really giving free will. Also learn to, Jesus Christ, I thought I was bad at english but I feel like a literary compared to you.
@MrAsaphelps sorry if that's the way u feel.I know many Christians do things because of fear of hell or longing for Heaven. But I personally think it's wrong.I don't yearn to live like Jesus because I want to go to Heaven or avoid hell. It's because I believe that living my life like Him helps the world.I love people so much and he expressed love better than anyone. And Hell isn't God's fault it's the devils,so blame him.And your English could actually be better than mine.I'm still learning
likewise. i remember your book blessed me so much, helped and still helping me understand the truth of the word of God in the areas of sexual relationship. I praised and thanked God for you helping us young people
the "beyond", the "other life", is often envoked as a tool of self-denial. it is a way of negating the here and now. be miserable here so you can be happy in the next life. if you hate this one concrete world you hate life, no matter how you rationalize it.
@fede2 This is true, many cultures do teach such. However, since this is a Christian video, I would assume you are implying that the Bible teaches this to Christians. Yet it does not, saying that the natural desires of the body are evil and contradict the nature of life's Author, also stating that as the Author regenerates and recreates us we have new desires that are not evil and are not to be denied, resulting in liberation of self bondage and divine joy not only in THIS life but into eternity
@SureAndSteadfast well, not quite. i've come to understand that the religious feeling or religious life (clarifying that i myself am not particularly religious) varies in it's aplication from individual to individual. what i'm complaining about is the existent tendency among some of them to make strange rationalizations in the direction of "purity" or something implying repression and self-denial making for a poor quality of life.
@fede2 yeah, there are individuals who will make strange rationalizations about self-denial. However, there are certain things that the Christian God deems to be universally abstained from, and it is not to result in a poor quality of life, but to result in a richer quality of life here and now, because these very things that the Author of life deems impure and immoral are indeed things that lead to death and a poor life. That is why we abstain, to be rich in everlasting life and joy.
@SureAndSteadfast i suppose that depends on what you mean by "abstaining" and what it is you're abstaining from. in principle, i think a refrained attitude a priori towards anything is unsatisfying. part of the joy of life as i see it includes an element of trial and error, experimentation and an overall attitude of wanting to take life by the horns and submerging in it (by which i don't necesarily mean mindless self-indulgence or any sort of destructive hedonism).
@fede2 to abstain, as in to act or live in a way to be absent of something, usually sexual immorality or unhealthy foods. your perspective on experimenting things and 'getting a taste' of how things are is very common today, i used to think this as well. "stop telling me what to do, let me find out for myself" is the very principle that I used to dogmatically cling to. What has helped me, and what the Lord has revealed in Scripture, is to understand that it is better to heed sound advice than...
@fede2 ...to ignore godly wisdom and be thrown into destruction and despair to then climb out, as what happens far too often today. There is absolutely no doubt that there is some measure of satisfaction or pleasure in sin, the Bible states it and everyone, Christian or not, knows this to be true. However, that pleasure is very short-lived, and requires sacrificial/compromising sustenance, either at the expense of someone's budget and money, physical health, social life, or their morality.
@fede2 No matter how it is said or presented, the foundation of a godly abstinence from ungodly things or ways is that an everlasting joy and satisfaction may be raised up in an individual, sustained and cultivated by God and God alone, and found in Christ. Take the Pharisees: they would fast often, sometimes more than Christ's own disciples. But their motivation was for healthy benefits and boasting rights, and Christ asked why His disciples should fast while He is here on earth with them?

@fede2 the entire Christian philosophy/lifestyle revolves around Christ: joy from Christ, life from Christ, fasting out of a desire to see Christ manifest in our lives. It all has to be about Christ or else it is idolatry.
@SureAndSteadfast this calls for a much longer conversation than permitted by space in this section but you seem to classically dwell on a false dichotomy. i reiterate: i'm not referring to some sort of destructive hedonism (you don't need "scripture" to understand it's hazards). let me see if i can make this concise: everything is potentially denagrous, and i mean almost everything. eating too much chocolate is bad for your stomache, does that call for complete abstinence from chocolate?

@dch357 one more thing i forgot to mention, though a Christian may struggle with these things such as homosexuality, lying, cheating, whatever, what makes them a true believing Christian is knowing that it's a sin and wanting to change.
@dch357 and @Nothara I couldn't help but notice your argument and thought I might comment on something. dch357, I believe that a true believing Christian could struggle with homosexuality. Homosexuality is a sin just like lying, cheating, stealing, etc. Someone could be a true believing Christian, but struggle with all of that because they are still human. All human sin. Nothara, according to the Bible, homosexuality is immoral. Anything that can't reproduce is an abomination.
After reading some of the replies, I'm dumbfounded! Folks!! PICK UP YOUR BIBLES and READ before you go condemning this man! To judge someone is to say "He is not saved and going to hell", that is judging. We cannot know the hearts of others, so we cannot judge them as being saved or not. As Christians, we have an obligation of holding fellow believers accountable. Paul preaches against homosexuality and sexual immorality. He is not judging!
I am torn between being angry with this man and feeling so very sorry for him. Angry, because so many young christians who struggle with homosexuality get the message that the love and desire they feel is less worthy than others' and that they, to live through that struggle, should... marry? get a job? Truly a hurtful philosophy.
And I feel sorry for him because I know how you can warp your own mind so far so that you really believe that this is something (a) god would want. :(
@dch357 Excuse me? You would presume to know the heart of every homosexual Christian out there? How does being a "true believing Christian" absolve you of your nature?
I don't care what Paul preaches, there's simply nothing "immoral" about homosexuality. This talk only stigmatises people and let's young homosexuals feel they can change who they truly are with... a job? marrying a woman? Absurd revolting nonsense!
Don't get me wrong though relationships can be amazing when love is involved, but that love will come to you if you keep following the right path and when it comes it will come hard like an earth quake.
I think people who put there minds toward working hard so that they can find love and marriage is not the right way to go. I feel that we all have missions and tasks that need to be done and eventually the family and wife will fall in place maybe not but that shouldn't been ones main focus. I have spoken to people are single and still virgins living a good life happy. Majority of times when someone decides to get into a relationship that's when stress and all that other stuff evolves...
I don't agree. I don't think having sex should be the motivation to get a job and get married. You should want to do those for God's glory. You have sex as a ministry to your wife.
Some Christian singles have an ease of control over their sexual natures, but most that I know fall into the categories of 1 Cor. 7:9 (better to marry than to burn with passion) and 1 Tim. 5:14 (young widows should remarry). Most want a sex life and a family. And the church leaders making singles feel unspiritual for wanting those things always seem to be married themselves.
damn. Im not even a christian, but i believe in god. i do lots of yoga and study Yogic philosophy and eastern thought. this makes a lot of sense. In yogic teachings our sexual energy is not to be wasted either. and Yogic philosohy even teaches that our sexual energy should be channeled to higher purposes, creativity, healing, etc. it's really interesting to see where different religions meet...
@AquiVengaElSol So you believe in God.. I challenge you to pick up the Holy Bible and read it. It can be a modern paraphrase such as "The Message", but just start reading. I promise you, the energy that the Holy Spirit will give you will far out do the yogic teachings.
@dch357 i appreciate the effort, brother. My father's a pastor, so I've read the bible, a lot of it, several times over... I think it's fair for me to ask you to step up to the plate, and if you're in a city with a yoga studio or a buddhist center of some sort, to learn some meditation techniques...
@dch357 it's my firm belief that God does not need a book to come into people's lives... God is everywhere in every moment, but we just need to still our minds before we can embrace Him. Prayer is when we make ourselves and our thoughts known to Infinity. Meditation is when we silence our minds so that infinity can make itself known to us. Anybody of any spiritual tradition can benefit and grow through a meditative discipline...
It is very interesting to me that Solomon's sexual prowess is the subject of a whole book of scripture, and is called "The Song of Songs." He also wrote a lot of songs and lived in a castle. In short, he was a Hebrew Jimmy Plant!

Sorry to sound so cliche, but christianity has a lot to answer for

it's soo funny how unbelievers comment on these videos trying to cause a stir amongst Christians, poking fun at them and trying to prove the bible untrue. If the Bible is as dumb as you say/think it is, then why waste your time watching and commenting on Christian videos? What do you have to offer the world by your disbelief? Believing in Christ= Eternal Salvation, disbelief= rotting in a grave . . .what exactly are your motives?
teesims21 7 months ago 19
@teesims21 "soo funny"?? The reason why "unbelievers" watch & comment is that the "Christianity" being offered is not a mystical/psychological way 2 increase health and harmony that's fully compatible with scientific investigation of the truth, but a variant of the Emperor Constantine's brilliant way 2 get the masses 2 obey by keeping their minds firmly in a state of childish Faith (ie believing the METAPHORICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL 2 be LITERAL) thus exploiting spiritual energies 4 political purposes.
taofist 7 months ago
@teesims21
Skepticktok 4 months ago
@teesims21 Maybe the motivation is the desire for truth. Higher criticism is the ladder by which to reach the fruits of knowledge denied by apologetics. Do you think unbelievers will meet the Titans in Tartarus ( see 2 Peter 2v4 in original Greek)? What about Zeus will he be in heaven or Hades? How was Genesis Eden story of no death ever going to work ? The world would quickly become overcrowded with animals if none died. If evolution is true there can be no original sin
zytigon 4 months ago
@zytigon . If evolution is true there can be no original sin. Of course there is no original sin. The concept of the original (if it were true) is the greatest injustice ever committed in human history. Why would you be responsible for the sins of your ancestors. This concept of the "original sin" is one of the best ideas to prove christianity is wacky, at best.
ndzoko 2 months ago
@teesims21 Because if the only purpose of life is for life, denying the fullest truth and extent of life is self-defeating and pointless. The full expression of life requires the recognition of it's nature and the ability to recognise life for what it is - whether that be in God, or in the pursuit of truth, or (yes) in selfishness; however that selfishness is achieved (and it's not always inherently bad.) I was redirected here, and I'm not someone who particularly aims to disprove God, but $0.02

@StrumstickJoe And remeber, I'm following a selfless man who laid his life down for many. One who taught forgiveness, and to love even your enemy, to count others needs greater than your own, helping the widows and orphans, donating sacrificially to the poor and needy. And while he was being murdered he prayed, "forgive them, for they know not what they do." That's what I'm living for, and this is my prayer for you Joe.
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe The Gospel message is simple, if there is a God, and he represents holyness and justice, then how do you think he see's you? Are you perfect? He cant just arbitrarily judge some and not others, he has to uphold justice. So he pre-ordained a plan of redemption for his people whom he loves. And took upon flesh in the form of his only son, as an attempt to reach you and I. Jesus was not sinfull, yet he became the propitiation of his wrath, which allows you and I to stand justified.
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 ...Why did "he" create stupid hammerhead sharks, and dodos; why dinosaurs (99% of the earth’s evolved life has become extinct); why a fungus that lives exclusively in an ant’s brain (to zombify it and kill it before growing a long tendril out of the head to latch onto other passing ants); why carpal tunnel syndrome, cancer cells and birth defects? Evolution can explain all this very well; creationism has a massive task so to do.
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago

I don’t believe in your man-god, or that he taught anything. I know about forgiveness, it is often good – but my enemies, for example, the cowardly murderers of islam, will NOT be loved by me. You go love your own enemies.
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe "or that he taught anything." Again this proves that is not an intellectual position that you hold. Your claim he never existed, he never taught anything contradicts historical and archealogical evidence. This includes secular historians who were NOT Christians. Not to mention the fact that never in the history of mankind has any one person made such an impact on this planet! Not even close! Like it or not Jesus rocked this world in more ways than we can comprehend.
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 “Jesus was not sinfull, yet he became the propitiation of his wrath, which allows you and I to stand justified.” - I find this statement completely incomprehensible. And not just because I don’t believe “his” existence. I don’t think a god “sees” me, let alone judges me. By what right would I be judged? Are I perfect?…. No, I am quite unwell, and also, I haven’t got the brain capacity I would like. Why would your creator create such an imperfect being?

So rather than pointing your finger back into history, or arround this messed up world, why not check yourself and ask what's being done about the problem of evil in you?

@swamislocal1 …so therefore I am ;-) Humans so nearly didn’t make it out of Africa, we were down to a thousand or so. Yes, it’s a slim chance – but it’s a chance. StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe Cosmologists and physicists generally agree the earth is 13-15 billion years old. According to this NASA expert Dr. Morrowitz, he concluded that in order for life to exist by chance it would have to have been trillions of years older! That's a considerable difference. Why do you consider your "a billion billion to one" odds to be more plausible than an intelligent designer. This seems to prove that it's not an intellectual decision, but rather a posture of the "heart".
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 ..."exist by chance "? You meant "evolve by chance" - and you are dismissing all evolution by this statement - did you mean to do that?
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe Stick to the topic of discussion Joe. The question was not what are the odds of human life existing by chance, it was what are the odds of life in the universe. And I've only been a Christian for about 7 years, so your "get em while they're young" slogan seems only to fit NAMBLA. Evolution is an ansulary point to this topic, since their are Christians on both sides of this topic, and one can interpret the "day" used in GEN of creation in different ways...
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 Religions always TRY TO “get them while they’re young” - and they do get some older converts too. Yes, you have to put very loose interpretations on the bible (and the others) because otherwise they would be recognised as fanciful nonsense! There have been many topics - most of which you've raised, and you talked a lot about odds. In all the worlds, in all the universe, however high the odds you calculate, there would be some places where life evolved - and this is one of them!
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 I believe I've raised a few things that you have been unable or unwilling to answer or comment on. If you're interested, look back and see. Here's more: The bible you love so much contains damning indictments of the god you love so much - and his "son" the messiah as well. How do you justify "his" racism, anger, and merciless nature? And why would you want eternal life in awe of "him" with his endless invigilation and your endless grovelling? Sorry to ask unanswerable questions.
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe No Joe you've thrown handfulls of topics at me while I've made an effort to stick to the topic of dicussion without going down rabbit trails.1. I gave you evidence for the reason why I believe the Bible is God's word. 2. We discussed morality/evolution, and I stated that it is contradictory to say things like "everything evolved including morality", but it is objective, and events from thousands of years ago are good/evil. And we ended up on cosmology...

@swamislocal1 Why people persist with ID today can only be explained by indoctrination. StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 I don’t consider anything to be “more plausible” than an intelligent designer.

StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe "the universe is wonderfull and amazing- but it is not magical, and needs no miracles." Yes but life existing in the universe is nothing short of a miracle. NASA asked the question of "what are the chances of life existing in the universe" and hired theoretics expert professor Morrowitz of Yale, he concluded that the chances are 1/10236, to put this into perspective, 1/1050 means that an event couldn't have happened even once in 15 billion years! So its a bit like throwing ..

StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe I thought you gave up, because you didn't address this post to me, but I found it. You said "I would not say that something very bad can be good." My point is simple, who decides good or evil in the absolute sense. Evil, meaning a deviation from an intended purpose of good. How can we arrive at this without a moral law giver. God is the source, and he's revealed his Holy standard through general revelation(creation), conscience, and His written word.
swamislocal1 10 months ago
@swamislocal1 You said, "How can we arrive at this without a moral law giver?" I say, that is insulting to all the ordinary, non-faith people who live perfectly moral lives. I don't need an umbrella (have you looked at Zomgitscriss yet - good, isn't she?) I wonder at what point in the evolution of life you think this god stepped in and said, "I think I'll create a sentient being with a million flaws, then watch him suffer for eternity."
StrumstickJoe 10 months ago
@StrumstickJoe Firstly, can you honestly say you or anyone you know live "perfectly moral lives"? Second, whether or not you believe in God is irrelevant to the fact that he created you with intrensic value, and a moral conscience. Lastly, the topic of evolution is ansulary to this topic. But since you brought it up, enlighten me as to how objective morality fits in with this theory. If all evolved, including morality you have a dillema saying it is objective. Conversely, this prevents you..

@swamislocal1 The bible was written by people (don't bore me with the "god done wrote it" rubbish) who had no knowledge of the solar system, diseases, electrical storms, tectonics, evolution. So, as a true account of anything, it stinks!
StrumstickJoe 11 months ago
@StrumstickJoe What do you want? Should I say God signed the Bible and had it notarized to validate it? There's no way to prove it was inspired by God scientifically. But I will challenge you to show me an ancient book that's comparable. One that was similar to the fact that it consists of 66 books, by 40 different authors, written over a time period of more than 1500 years, on 3 different continents, and has the common thread of God's love for us by salvation through Jesus from front to back.:)
swamislocal1 11 months ago
@swamislocal1 Well - there's the torah, from which the bible was plagiarized, and then there's the koran, which was plagiarized from both of the previous two. All of them the work of superstitious people, none of them containing the work or love of god, except by their own proclamation - which is (sorry!) not sufficient evidence for anyone who likes to think for himself. And thank you to the christians for their promise of my salvation, but I absolutely don't need it.
StrumstickJoe 11 months ago
@StrumstickJoe The Cross=God's Love for humanity. "not sufficient evidence" Professor Simon Greenleaf of Harvard Law would disagree with you. He's only the most influential professor of law in history, and arguably the top authority on the subject of evaluating evidence. BTW the Qur'an doesn't even compare to the Bible in any category, especially historically. The Torah is part of the Bible, so that doesn't count. So you'll have to agree that the composition of the Bible is supernatural.
swamislocal1 11 months ago
@swamislocal1 Goodness me! There's a serious lack of logic here! And you think I have to agree with it? If you begin an argument with a premise from the bible, then you have to support it independently - and I'm afraid the holy land is bereft of any evidence whatever for any of that stuff - so is Prof. Greenleaf (great name!)
If one could reason with the religious - there would be no religion.
StrumstickJoe 11 months ago
@StrumstickJoe What, is that today's atheist daily devotion? With all do respect Joe, Greenleafs opinion on evidence holds more weight than yours.Have you looked into the evidence for the historical resurection of Jesus Christ? That point is ansulary anyway. I cannot scientifically prove that the Bible is God inspired, but my challenge in resonse to your claim still stands, which is show me another book that is comparable. Since you cannot, I'll have to assume you agree that it is supernatural.
swamislocal1 11 months ago
@swamislocal1 Goodness me again! There's still a serious lack of logic here! And you still expect anybody rational to agree with it? You haven’t made an argument, you need badly proof of your fantastic claims – it’s not up to me to prove non-existence of something.
You may assume that I would believe in the supernatural if you want, but I don’t. And worship is a weird thing for someone to need every day. your god is extremely insecure.

@StrumstickJoe "you haven't made an argument" O.K you said that the Bible wasn't God inspired.. Historically it stands the test of scrutiny as well...
swamislocal1 11 months ago
@swamislocal1 …you can offer “facts surrounding the Bible that proove it's composition is supernatural.” Then you proceed to give nothing, labelled 1, 2 & 3.
Listen my friend – you wish to believe it, and with the wish comes the belief. But the bible is still an old, badly (though selectively) compiled collection of old plagerised fairy tales. I don’t need that book, nor any other, whether it is comparable or not. It is of no interest or requirement.
StrumstickJoe 11 months ago
@StrumstickJoe Joe, you claim I didn't give you any facts surrounding my argument, but I did. This will be the 3rd time I share them.. 66 books, 40 different authors, time span of approx 2000 yrs, 3 different continents, and it has a cohesive message of salvation through Jesus from front to back. Those are 5 facts surrounding the Bible that put it in a category of 1. You have failed to provide me with a comparable book that meets these criteria, and therefore my friend The Bible=Amazing!
swamislocal1 11 months ago
@swamislocal1 You're a bit stuck in your ways! There's no salvation for you, my friend. How your dubious "facts" support your argument, I can not see. I'm glad you've found a book you like, but don't rely on it to guide your life, there's far too much murder, racism and revenge in it. I can live without it, and prefer so to do. Don't you just hate the idea of permanent invigilance - even after you're dead - eternally? Give yourself a break. I wish you well.
StrumstickJoe 11 months ago
@StrumstickJoe "You're a bit stuck in your ways!" Thanks, I am. And as Jesus said, "I am the way, the Truth, and the life"... @MrAsaphelps This is a typical fallacy. The New Testament was translated from Greek to English. That is one iteration, only one bud. And believe me there's a commitee of Biblical language scholars on board for such work, including the different versions you mentioned.(ie;NLT,NASV, etc) For example I'll share one translation that was rejected by Biblical Scholars, and Classical Christianity. the "beyond", the "other life", is often envoked as a tool of self-denial. it is a way of negating the here and now. be miserable here so you can be happy in the next life. if you hate this one concrete world you hate life, no matter how you rationalize it.

@fede2 well said. nietzsche's philosophy in a nutshell
Herathe 1 year ago
@fede2 This is true, many cultures do teach such. However, since this is a Christian video, I would assume you are implying that the Bible teaches this to Christians. Yet it does not, saying that the natural desires of the body are evil and contradict the nature of life's Author, also stating that as the Author regenerates and recreates us we have new desires that are not evil and are not to be denied, resulting in liberation of self bondage and divine joy not only in THIS life but into eternity
SureAndSteadfast 1 year ago
@SureAndSteadfast well, not quite. i've come to understand that the religious feeling or religious life (clarifying that i myself am not particularly religious) varies in it's aplication from individual to individual. what i'm complaining about is the existent tendency among some of them to make strange rationalizations in the direction of "purity" or something implying repression and self-denial making for a poor quality of life.
fede2 1 year ago
@fede2 yeah, there are individuals who will make strange rationalizations about self-denial. However, there are certain things that the Christian God deems to be universally abstained from, and it is not to result in a poor quality of life, but to result in a richer quality of life here and now, because these very things that the Author of life deems impure and immoral are indeed things that lead to death and a poor life. That is why we abstain, to be rich in everlasting life and joy.
SureAndSteadfast 1 year ago
@SureAndSteadfast i suppose that depends on what you mean by "abstaining" and what it is you're abstaining from. in principle, i think a refrained attitude a priori towards anything is unsatisfying. part of the joy of life as i see it includes an element of trial and error, experimentation and an overall attitude of wanting to take life by the horns and submerging in it (by which i don't necesarily mean mindless self-indulgence or any sort of destructive hedonism).
fede2 1 year ago
@fede2 to abstain, as in to act or live in a way to be absent of something, usually sexual immorality or unhealthy foods. your perspective on experimenting things and 'getting a taste' of how things are is very common today, i used to think this as well. "stop telling me what to do, let me find out for myself" is the very principle that I used to dogmatically cling to.

Lildarkskin 1 year ago

Notharah 1 year ago
@Notharah A true believing Christian cannot struggle with homosexuality. Paul preaches against it in the Bible as well as other sexual immorality.
dch357 1 year ago

And the church leaders making singles feel unspiritual for wanting those things always seem to be married themselves.

he is the most beautiful face of homophobia I have ever had the pleasure of.
At one point, he will have to take a stance.
I think he will never own up and be a man.

AquiVengaElSol 1 year ago

Finally a relevant and meaningful way to think about sexuality from a Christian standpoint!
