  • Excellent video, brings back memories with my sons.Hope you will post more....

  • Nice vid,i see you place your nets directly over the holes,i have been told to place bottom ring slightly down the hole, theoretically they get their feet in it and it helps tangle them, not sure if it makes any really difference and am not criticising, think i may have to invest in a long net as i seem to lose a few, crafty buggers pop up one bolt hole and down another.

  • Yes, all from working stock.

  • looks like your jills are good workers did you get them from a working strain?

  • awesome video mate

  • @adimell Thanks

  • do u catch many blackens

  • @MrConeycatcher The odd one or two black ones, and sometimes ginger, or ginger and white ones.

  • how many ferrets u got

  • @MrConeycatcher 3 jills

  • do you teach your sons to make the nets (im 13 and i make my own nets)

  • @nigglypuff983 No they dont make them yet. Thats excellent you make them, and I bet you just love catching bunnies in them.

  • @freedomofabird i actually knew the basics but i watched your net making vids im getting my friends and im teaching them. in my opinion i like it better then video/computer games.

  • Looks like you had a great day out with the kids! Outstanding video! Keep up the great work with your children and the great videos!

  • @browneye77 Thank you.

  • fer paly never seen so meny rabbits

  • can ur kids neck a rabbit

  • @MrConeycatcher Eldest one is learning now, with me assisting. The youngest isnt really big enough, to be fair on the bunny.

  • That hell of a film fair pounds worth of nets there I know lol them kids are bring brout up proper !!!!!!! And that's 1big woran well done

  • @ejcox1000 Thanks for comments, hope you enjoyed the vid.

  • The kids looked well looked after. Your ferrets looked well looked after. Your equipment looked well looked after and the filming well very good. No swearing to be heard! That looked like a nice (part day) out. Thank you.

  • @detectoboy Thanks for the kind words, it was a great day out for the lads they love it. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks.

  • Watch out flying rabbit. 2:20

  • You have some very nice ferret hutches, did you make them yourself?

  • @IUseMyGunsToHunt No I bought them off the internet, but in all honesty they are not that strong. I am in the process of making some more out of solid timber.

  • hope you dont mind but i have down loaded you 3 ferreting videos using a mobile web site called (yaaya) to my mobile phone so i can watch them with out going on youtube mate

  • Ever thought about having a air rifle for the rabbits out their holes as well? There seems to be loads just sitting around lol

  • @TheMonstasInc Yes I have, or my rimmy, but we dont need to kill them all on this particular spot, hence we are not to bothered.

  • @freedomofabird i take it yer on about a .22rimfire?? my dad has one for deer stalking

  • id love that sandy coloured one. any idea's on where i could get a new one. not in season till march-may but doesnt have to be a kit.

  • i just got a ferret and i am thinking of going ferreting so this was a very informative video :-)

  • @demoncaterpiller Glad you enjoyed it mate and I will try and do another sometime.

  • Great video well done to you and the youngsters! A nice little lurcher would add a few more to the bag, should look into getting one bud.

    Cheers.

  • @TheFerreter96 I'd love one mate, but after last dog got put down, misses won't have another one for a while! You can tell who wwears the trousers in our house!!

  • Man, that second net sure paid for itself.

  • What a lovely way to bring up your lads so thay know where there food comes from, not from a plastic tray from a supermarket, good on yer mate ,do some more vids for the townies,

  • @6390721 Thanks for the comments. Yes its great for the lads, and they are used to eating what we catch or shoot. Anything extra gets given away or used as food for the ferrets.

Hopefully I will get another vid out over the next month or so! I dont take the video camera every time though.

  • ther is a big rabbit problem ther m8

  • @AlexParkinsonHD The ferret had the rabbit!

  • Awesome video! Cant wait for when the time comes that I can show my kids the ways of ferreting!!

  • @duckster118 Glad you enjoyed it, and yes its great going with the kids, and seeing them enjoy it so much.

  • Good video pal, what area is this in? Looks like you should take up the rifle next time and get the rest in the other field!

  • Great video, thanks for sharing, just subscribed.

  • @jozzilion Cheers Mate, like your vid too, the one with the snared rabbit. How come you didnt neck it instead of shooting it!

    Not a critisicm, just interested.

  • @freedomofabird Hi, Thanks, when I bent down to it, I noticed it was tangled in the snare so I shot it, took me while to untangle it even not trying to escape! Its a pain trying to film while out, was one of the reasons I really enjoyed Your vid, the different camera angles & forethought really set it apart for Me, the 246 yard shot is a great too!

  • try and push the pegs in harder, but great vid! best on yourube by far

  • @bushcraft96 Thanks for the comments mate. The soil is very stony on this permission and my 10 year old set alot of the nets. I didnt want to undermine him or his enthusiasm by checking each peg after he had done them.

I could have knocked some in further, but that would have risked spooking the bunnies. ..... I decided the long nets would capture any escapees!!

  • Very good vid, reminds me of some of my days out in shropshire. kenno

  • @kenno120862 I used to do a lot of ferreting in Shropshire, in the 70/80's around Weston Park, the Lizard, Albrighton and Tong. Glad you enjoyed the vid.

  • Great vid m8 and it was nice to see the younger generation getting involved and enjoying themselves :) Thanks for sharing. Graham.

  • sorry i didnt mean wigan i meant bolton ?

  • any where near wigan... im only twelve years old and i have literally KNOW WHERE to go :(

  • @conniecatcher No unfortunatley I'm not. Join some of the fieldsports forums, and get your mum or Dad to take you around the local farms. It helps if you can identify somewhere with quite a few rabbits in the first place though, as they are the ones most likely to let you on.

  • well done lads keep the sport going mate ace video !!

  • were abouts are you ferreting ?

  • @conniecatcher On the pennines mate

  • great vid mate im trying to make some have a look

  • Interesting video, the boys are great! What did you do with rabbits?

    Regards!

  • @krysks04 I eat some, I give some away, my ferrets eat some!

  • @freedomofabird I never seen anything like that/hunting for rabbits with ferret/! amazing and interesting for me,good job!

  • @jaderx7 Hi. I chin them to break their necks. If you watch at about 9.17 you will see me do one.

  • Nice video mate and the boys enjoyed themselves keep it up

  • great vid lads, looks a cracking little bit of land

  • @tommyt2209 Cheers Matey. I'm very lucky with this permission.

  • nice video, your boys are doing well,

can you tell me where you have bought yout longnet with sticks?

  • @RabbitHunterMil

Thanks for watching. I bought 2x 25 yard longnets with 100% bag, and the poles from 'bridportnets'. I then turned them into 'quick set nets' which means I can set each one in a couple of minutes, or overlap them to make a 49 yard net, as in the video. They take another minute or so to take up again.

  • great video boys........ good editing with the gopro

  • @TheEhoward

Thanks it was a good day. The GoPro is a great bit of kit and I am going to try and get some more footage with this little beauty, but on that large warren it was hard to decide where to put it!!
