  • Ten minutes sounds like a good goal. I will let it take its own time, six months sounds about right though. I've also seen massive grip improvement already working with a gada and 5 pound clubs.

How often do you do the heavy meel practice, i'm feeling it in my shoulders a bit today.

  • @mrbrady321 Monday, Wednesday & Saturday is strictly kettlebells. Tuesday, Thursday & Friday strictly Indian Clubs, Meels & Mace. Work out for about 40 to 50 minutes a day. Sometimes mess around with the clubs trying out new stuff from my 100 year old book on club swinging.

  • Very nice super steady and smooth swings. Again i'm really impressed with the outward casts.

I just received the set of 10 pound clubs i ordered so this is very timely.

I'm surprised at how much different it is swinging the meel style clubs, i may hit you up with some questions after i've had a little more time to practice.

    In heath - cole

  • @mrbrady321 Thanks for your comment, when you start with your meels you can do two things.

First work with one only, INWARD first, use a mirror or outside window to watch your form. Second have a look at my video Indian Clubs in Sheffield. Towards the end I use a pair of meels, one arm casting and the other resting the meel on the shoulder.

Good way to start. Also practice the moves with lighter clubs which helps getting to know the mechanics, feel free to ask questions.

  • @taraswolkowinski Thanks Paul- that worked well for me. I first did some two hand straight swings to support. Then one handed straight swing to support to inward cast. After that i tried the one handed full heart shaped circles like you were doing in the Sheffield video. I really was surprised that the circles went fine both inward and outward. After that i tried two hand inward casts and the went quite well. Now its just a matter of getting the numbers up. Once this gets good i'll add outward.

  • @mrbrady321 That's great to hear, when I first started with the shoulder casts I gave myself a target of one minute, and rest for a minute. Then change direction and so on. Slowly build up 90 seconds, then two minutes. I have just recently broken the 10 minute barrier with my 6.5 kilo meels. Took me about six months to build up to this. I have noticed a massive improvement in my grip as a result.

  • Nice work, love the color pattern of the meels.

  • @BareFisted They are pretty special. I am very lucky to have found a very talented woodturner, who made them for me.
