i found one about that size by the indian river, looked exactly like this... good to know that rumors of them in new york are true, i love cachtin em and when i found the little fella i brought him to a pond next to my house full of other turtles.. hope he survives and grows into a monster so one day i might catch him again
@monitorlover1 I've had one of each before. The common snapper's tails get shorter when they get older. The t know alligators remain long. I really don' t understand why its so hard for people to tell the difference between the 2. they look completely different.
this is a common snapping turtle. their is no northern alligator snapping turtle they only live down south but common snappers are just as cool and can end up being cooler if they are cared for proprley and made frendlyer towards humans!!!
not an alligator snapping turtle. thats a comman snapping turtle. when it gets bigger the ridges on the shell will flatten out. your expert is a joke. i have a comman snapping turtle. it looked just like that when it was still a baby.
It is a northern alligaator snapping turtle because snappers have smooth shell not spiney i brought one like it to a turtle expert he said it was a northern one!!!!
its a common snapping turtle because alligator snapping turtles have short necks and common CAN extend theirs. Also because their eyes are towards the top of their head, where the alligator snapping turtle has their eyes on the side of their head.
yep this looks exactly like my baby (thought to be an alligator snapper) but is just a common i guess, what a shame. anyone know where i can get a real baby alligator snapper?
beautiful snapper, but yeah i think thats a common, alligator snappers have rougher ridges and if you want to know the difference, you can tell from the eyes. It looks like a 5 star point design and are olive green, brown and black, but i cant really tell what color your snapper is.
Dude I'm from Washington state how the hell can I get 1

That looks like a common snapping turtle. To the person trying to feed the snapping turtle lettuce, try feeding him/her fish, dead or alive.
