  • Ummmm. My head just exploded.. Is what I just watched even possible? I guess not anymore..

  • Stunning!!

  • john is fuckin hilarious

stands there like... someone has to be sane in this band

in the meantime being a total boss on that bass

  • Moon was the Bruce Lee of drums or maybe Bruce Lee was the Keith Moon of martial arts.

  • "We were obviously playing very well," said master of the understatement and bass guitar John Entwhistle. RIP The Ox and The Ioon

  • Awesome, but I still love the Live at Leeds version the most. That song is possibly the greatest ever live performance of The Who, and it's a shame there isn't a video of it.

  • excellent! plain and simple

  • the who!! gods of mod rock !! this is my favourite clip of all time i was there!! yes!!

  • 3:50-4:28. . .classic!

Saw the Who do Young Man Blues in Music Hall in Cincinnati this same year on the US leg of this tour (with the James Gang. . .I can still remember it to this day. Moon and Townshend were unbelievable. Entwhistle had the skeleton suit on that night, as well. Saw many Who shows back when they were "the Who" (i.e. with Moon) . .all memories now but no one can take that away from me!!

  • Keith Moon is so awesome

  • They should play 10 minutes of this at the Super Bowl

  • Nowadays, it's the old man...he's got all the fuckin' money...

AND A YOUNG MAN AIN'T GOT NOTHIN' IN THE WORLD THESE DAYS!!! I said...

  • This one competes with "A Quick One..." as the Who's most explosive all time performances...

  • And at the end of round one, it's

    The Who -- 1

    The gods -- 0

  • Pagan, eh?

  • If there's ever a real rock and roll hall of fame, not that piece of crap in Cleveland, this performance should be on a huge screen on a continiuous loop, to show all future generation what rock and roll is all about and to show them how to do it right.

  • YES

  • This for Doug, Marty and Gary. You know who you are!

  • anyone notice that keith breaks his bass pedal and puts his right leg round the other side of the snare and plays it all on the left kick untill the tech swaps it! Hes god!

  • The who take any song and play it louder and better than anyone

  • Doesn't matter how many times you watch it, there is little doubt it's the greatest piece of rock you'll ever see, by a true brilliant band

  • The incomparable Who. The greatest ever Rock Band. The most magnetic frontman, the greatest drummer, the manic guitarist, the thunderous bass. Magic. Long live rock!

  • I'd pay a week's wage to sit in row 5 for this concert !

  • Keith's snare is fucking awesome.

  • Uh, what snare?

  • Premier 2000 baby!!!!!!

  • I love the recorded version of this, but played LIVE....holy cow...it left me breathless!

  • Only one thing to say...Amazing fucking band. Oh, and Keith was just DA BOMB! Gone but not forgotten, not by a long shot!

  • Mother fucker it is!

  • motherf----- this is incredible!

  • the who ftw

  • ass?

  • what dvd or film was this off cuz there talking to start with.

  • this is from the Maximum R&B box set.

  • Pete Townshend is jaw-dropping here. He is a natural showman, just as much so as Mick Jagger or David Bowie. You could say the same about Moon and Daltrey.

  • Agreed entirely, he may not have been as peacockish and flamboyant as Jagger or Bowie, but the energy he had was simply amazing.

  • The drumstick twirls at 4:09 and 4:12 : I'm writing this because it left me speechless. Rock drumming at its best!

  • alex van halen and keith moon are the 2 greatest drummers of all time. john bonham OVER RATED

  • I pay atention on your opinion about music. I did also a lot of times. But never express an opinion , bad or good, about any writer of youtube. I think that kind of coments not interesting to anyone. Think about it.

  • 'the beatles werent really even rock n roll'

There were those who could rockout more...admittedly.

But I question you're sexual orientation.

    Y'follow?

  • Oh yes they were, Revolution,Twist and Shout,Hard Day's Night were definitely rockers. The Who were definitely better rock musicians but the Beatles had the biggest influence especially with Sgt Pepper. With album they said you can play rock and roll anyway you want to.

  • well put. the beatles knew how to rock. the white album has, for them, eavier rock stuff. i agree with u completely

  • it's like Entwistle said "The Beatles might have made better records than us, but we'd have blown them off the stage"....well put indeed

  • yea i have to agree with tht. The Bealtes r my fav band ever, followed closely by the Who. But yea, live, th Who would kill the Fab Four. Plus, the Baltes stopped touring after 1965. IMO, their best stuff came out with rubber soul and on. I aint a fan of their early pop rock. I wish i coulda seen the who live with all members.

  • @moontheloon1982 And kicked their ass in a fistfight. The Who were kind tough and surly sometimes.

  • Led Zeppelin songs are all better before you read the lyrics and try to take any kind of meaning from...When you read the lyrics to WHO songs that Pete wrote you end up liking the song more. Pete didnt just string together a bunch of words that rhymed and call it a song.

  • I think that comment might spark some debate. The Beatles and the Who are obviously not playing the same kind of music.

  • Led Zepelin?? please compare live perfomances..The Who were a lot better. And there is no doubt Keith Moon was and is the very best drum musician in rock history...till now. Now the truth remains: the 3 best bands in Rock´n roll hitory: Beatle, Rolling Stones and the Who.

  • dude, listen. you are wrong on so many levels. First off, you can't compare. Like the others said, educate yerself and go effin listen to Tommy and Quad. they are amazing with a lot of meaning. Did Zep do that? NO. And Townshend put A LOT of thought into his songs. Most of em weren't the typical love songs that everyone does. Pete is an amazing song writer who obviously had more meaningful songs! I don't bash Zep, but I think The Who are better. Shut up you ignorant fool.

  • actually townshend is the genious in person, but page is the genious in playing :)

    no need to compare

  • actually townshend is the genious in person, but page is the genious in playing :)

    no need to compare

  • hahhahaha what did they ever write about? Did they ever write albums that consited of ONE story? NO...they just wrote about random shit dude, shut the fuck up and go buy Tommy and Quadrophenia for meanging you ignorant prick

  • I think Bonham looked in the mirror each morning and hoped and wished and fantasized that he could be Keith Moon...or maybe even half as great. Yeah, I know Page was a bit better than Townshend and Plant was cooler and a better front man than Daltry...But Entwistle and Moon were on another planet musically. And Zeppelin songs are very lightweight when you really break them down...you want meaningful...go buy Quadrophenia.

  • Of course Keith Moon was and is the best baterist in the Rock history....Bonham??? ha ha...,also the who are my 3 favourite group inmediatly after Beatles and Rolling Stones...the thre better rock´n roll bands ever.

  • you wish

  • 3:30-3:33...the most "metal" 3 seconds of 1970 haha.

  • Instinct-o-dodge from John at 1:45.

  • WHO the fuck are led zep this is the DOGS BOLLACKS MAKES MOTERHEAD sound like the carpenters

  • well put...I'll have to use that one sometime when trying to show somebody the light

  • I JUST LOVE IT!!!

  • nice femur, john

  • Not only Bruce Lee with the drumsticks. Keith was like Muhammad Ali with the sticks... Quick and fast.

  • Keith Moon was like Bruce Lee with drumsticks. If you people like this check out Long John Baldry's Don't Lay No Boogie-Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll

  • i think i would kill myself if i liked rap or poppy britney spears shit and not this real music

  • guy, don't get so over-emotional about things. you sound like an emo kid in reverse.

  • if you like why would you kill yourself cos thats what you liked?? if you liked there would be no need...

  • this perfomance was amazingly tight (as in perfect)

  • MOON BEST DRUMMER EVER

  • Nothing sped up here. Quite possibly the finest performance of a song The Who ever gave.

  • I really think that's a quick one for the rock and roll circus... though this is great as well. Best live band ever!

  • Seems right to me.

  • kickass!! one hell of a band

  • The Who were a revolutionary band, breaking every rule in the book. R-n-R drums, bass, and rhythm guitar are not lead instruments, right? Wrong!! With all of them soloing at once it's nothing short of incredible. Daltrey's in fine form as well.

  • my fav who song. awesome performance...

  • even the bass line jumps out at you. its awsome. thats music.

  • thats because its a john entwistle... all his bass lines jump out at you...its no wonder he was voted bassist of the millenium...

  • It wasn't just Entwistle Moon, Townsend and Daltery did some heavy lifing

  • indeed...

  • Like Ted Williams... they should have preserved some of Kieth Moon somewhere cryogenically..... someone really should have thought of it. Effing hippies....

  • Keith Moon The Monster

  • This is absolutely adrenaline pumping Rock & Roll. Their shows of this era were awsome! Maximum R&B!

  • i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "They Stepped BACK!" Damn right, Keith!

  • are you kidding? Live at the Isle of Wight is the best Who ever!

  • By the tone they are playing and the cord structure...you can gather they are playing very loud.

  • They were indeed playing very loud...this was a woodstock-like festival with over 650,000 people. They used all the best, most powerful equipment that was available at the time. Thats why all the other bands playing the festival used The WHO's personal P.A. system.

  • Incredible Keith I love you !

The Ox is a god too.

    Like townshend

  • keith's amazing

  • Amazing performance. I wish I could do the stick-bounce-off-the-skin thing without poking my eye out though.

  • They are the most underrated rock band ever. This is the beginning of punk and metal music. Everybody else was singing about the flowers in their hair, while these guys were defining what it means to rock. I've never been more sure of anything than I am of the fact that no band from any generation could out-do these guys on stage. NOBODY

  • Ex_FUCKING Actly.

  • absolutely 100% true brother! live at leeds changed my musical taste forever

  • maybe not the beginning of punk and metal

    but definately an influence

although i've never heard a metal band sight these guys as an influence

well w/e if i'm ever in a metal band then i will!

    lol

  • whats this from cz thers john talking at the begining???

  • this is from the Maximum R&B box set. I liked Pete's comments so I included it.

  • oo wikked i nearly bought this is it good?? cz i have the kids are alright

  • The box set is definitely worth getting. there is a lot of good live footage on this dvd; mostly different stuff than on the Kids are Alright.
