I don't think you know enough about Eddie Vedder to make a comment like that. Im sure that he doesn't support "designer jeans," and furthermore, the message of the song is a bit deeper than materialism. While it does give off that perception, im sure what hes referring to is how people treat eachother, and how we deem eachother important, or not important at all. Opinions are free, and I value yours, but I think it's said with a blind tongue, kind human.

I love the song. I have always loved Eddie Vedder and I've always liked Johhny Depp's work, but there is something ironic about a couple of millionaires in designer jeans leaving behind the very society that allowed them such fortunes. I'm not saying it's crazy to walk away from it, I'm just pointing out that they haven't. Crazy indeed.
