Epic footage, linesider. expertly shot. lovely collection of clips. Next time, take an angle grinder with you and chop down all that horrible electrification for an uninterrupted view!
AAAA.062239Z DEC 2008 Who needs Pendilio`s ? One can read a book on this train...Makes a change without being thrown about at 100mph plus...wonderful video thank you for posting.......AR.
Excellent footage Linesider. Yes who needs those high speed hightech but soulless trains of today. I very much like how the steam exhaust clings to the hill/cutting sides when 6233 passes by and in particular how 6233 and her train 'dwarf' the traffic on the adjacent motorway, both in appearance and speed. Great stuff!!
Thanks Bob and sorry for the excessively slow reply! A very memorable day was this, and I agree - whilst the sun didn't shine, 6233 did :-). It's funny, that last scene you'd think I was stood in the wilds completely alone, but in truth, there must have been 50-60 people behind me. Very well behaved and quiet I must say!
No problem David, what's important is see the work you produce. I get around 100 messages a day and I know it's hard work keeping on top of things..regards..Bob
Very nice 5 stars.did you have to do some fast driving to get a head of the train or did you have any to help & film at the other locations? Very nicely done.Cheers
Thanks very much. The train stopped at Carlisle, Beattock Summit (unscheduled) and Abington loop, so I managed to get round it with some nifty driving thankfully.
Brilliant video. Cold air works superb with the smoke. Well done.

Wonderful.
Please explain the absence of a diesel at the rear - as often seen in other cases with steam traction.

Magnificent view of this splendid loco making light work of a testing stretch of line. How old is she now? She must be around 75 years old now?

What a great video. I wonder if that cylinder packing lasted out until Glasgow!

Doing exactly what it was built to do! Such a fine sight. Shame about those modern masts with the electric string hanging off them.

Fantastic, a great video, carefully chosen locations. Nothing beats the sound of a Duchess in the hills....except maybe a Duke!!

Cheers - a Duchess in full cry is my favourite spectacle, although the Duke has come mighty close of late!
