I trained there for a very short time in the early 1990s and that area of with the mosaic floor had the most draining and 'haunted' sort of atmosphere of anywhere I have ever been in my life. The building was beautiful in some respects and the destruction is very sad but what awful memories it must have held to create such a sensation of sadness even when entering it on the brightest sunny days as I did....
@CairnRaider This is the way we wrecked the old asylums making holes in the roof and gutters so the water gets in. Evil places which must be destroyed!
@Stormtrooper1488 Your just a typical immature, narrow minded ( & probably jobless) twat with nothing better to do with your life than to help to destroy beautiful building like these just take a look at that flooring ffs!!!!....They are not Evil places as you say...maybe what went on inside them wasn't to good but what gives you or anyone else the right to go into building to purley to vandalise it????...You want my advice grow up & if you havnt got a job get 1!!!!
It's such a sacrilege. Once it's gone that's it for ever- never again will anything so amazing be built like this again. The council need to enforce the restoration of every last inch by the developer or curtail their planning permission for future developments (whenever that may be in this current climate!)
my god. how much is led worth>??? tramps! Wont be long before someone burns it down.
I had to visit my nanna just before she was diagnose with cancer. She slowly started loosing her mind. Think most of the hospital was shut down except for housing the old people.
Hello I'm a producer on an independent film. I want to use High Royds Hospital as a location. Have you any contact numbers for it? If so I would be very grateful if you passed them on to me. Thank You
