Funny how small events turn the momentum. Bartman was just in a place and time where it was destined to happen. Every Cub fan KNEW something disastrous was going to happen...they were all stressed and on edge. It really is amazing how a play like this, when up 3 runs, etc. could change the entire atmsophere and dynamic of the players, game and crowd and eventually the series. It's very easy to point at a fan and dismiss the bad pitches and defense that followed.

The Cubs were all mentally out of it after Bartman interfered. Mark Prior hung pitches and threw wild pitches, Alex Gonzalez was nervous fielding the ball, Moises Alou was pissed off. Yeah, it was the worst moment in Cubs history thanks to the amazing Steve Bartman.

I was 11 when this play happened, and even though I initially believed it to be his fault, I have since progressed to see that it was just an unfortunate event against Bartman. As other people have said, what occurred following the play is simply inexcusable.
