She has a taste of a few different people all wrapped up into her own style or "swag" or whatever you want to call it. But those who weren't "pioneers" have to work very hard at not sounding like someone. So yes I hear Kim but that doesn't stop her from being anointed. Who was the last person to come out as a gospel artist in the last 10 years and they don't sound like nobody at all? (<-- that's a for real question)

I like Nikki, but I agree with what has already been said-- I believe she has her own individual ministry, sound, and anointing. It might be made in reverence to someone else or even mastered by someone but the anointing is never duplicated. Karen or Kim -- can't compare to one another, Dorinda or Ella can't be compared to one another-- matter of fact even bert and ernie have different sides (haaaaaaaa).......

you see the problem i see with that is that everyone nowadays is being compared to either kim burrell or karen which is so not the case. if God gave u that sound u shouldnt try and change wat GOD gave u the only reason they are even referred to in that mannaer is because they are veterens on gospel music so they have sung every way possible and there is no new sound yet. besides tye tribbett lol

You're right. In fact, someone said that nikki and Kim started at about the same time and Nikki has always been singing like this. It just took her about 20 years to get recognized, while Kim was recognized much earlier. The comparison to Karen or Kim is a problem just like you said.

But I like to hear people where there own style!! and maybe I dont follow her music like that.. But its like now a days all of singers are trying to get that Clark and burrell sound... Which is okay.. but thats been done before.. Come a different route.

she came up about the same time as Mrs Kim Burrell and she has been singing like this for a  long time, she is just know comin into the light though outside of Texas. So i know she is not trying to be like anyone else that is just her style.

she because she has range, an anointed ear, and mad keyboard stills dont mean is is trying to be a Karen or Kim.

But the thing is you don't pick out the bad things to say. That's not normal. Nobody picks out the little bad things b4 the good things when commenting on worldly things. It's pride or offense that makes people do that. Do you have it voice that fact that she's not your style? I've watched videos where the music was not my style, like country music, but I was impressed with maybe the singer or instrumentalist. i met Nikki in 1995 at WWBC in Houston, she was the pianist for the choir then. She was 17 or 18. She was amazing then. I could not believe the way she would lead songs by Yolanda and kill it. Shes been singing the same way ever since(Runs as well)
