I pushed my baby 2 hours and still he did not come out and his heart beat went dangerously down, so I am very happy that I was in hospital and not at home so they could make an emergency c-section right away (baby have to be out under 10 minutes from the doctors decision) and save my baby´s life. If I would been at home giving birth my baby would be dead now. And no one saw that coming. My pregnancy went great, baby wasn´t too big or anything, but still I could not do it "naturally".
I had almost the same exact experience. I was induced with my first and labored just 8 hours before the doctor marked me as "failure to progress" and gave me a c section. My first was born at 5:09 PM. I got my records and moved when I was pregnant with my second child and there was no indication of maternal or fetal distress in my records, so the doctor just wanted to go home. My second was a VBAC and I had a midwife. Night and day differences! I am currently in school to become a midwife. :D
I had a very similar experience. A hard very emotionally trying csection, then a wonderful vbac that helped me heal from my first birth. My vbac baby ended up being 11 lbs. 9 oz. and it was an extremely hard labor but still it was much better than the csection. my husband and i bonded deeply over the birth of our second baby, a little boy and I would do it again in a heart beat. Thank you for sharing.
I had an emergency Cesarean with my first. I saw her immediately when she was born, held her as soon as I was transferred off the OR table, held her while on the way to the recovery room, and nursed her immediately once we arrived there... This video focuses on all the negatives of a Cesarean; although natural birth is best, a *necessary* C is a lifesaver. It was not a terrible experience for me. Both ways carry risks .That said, I'm going for a VBAC with #2 any day now, and hoping for success!
I have commented on thıs before but I wanted to share somethıng: ı dont thınk vagınal bırth should be pushed on a patıent. I was pushed to gıve vagınal delıvery. my baby was 8.11, now that ıs crazy! of course ı ended up gettıng epıdural and vacuum.. whıch ıs even worse than c-sec. ı should have had c-sec, but my doc wanted everythıng "natural" or maybe he worrıed about the health ınsurance and wanted to save his .... you know what ı mean. natural ıs not always the best,bıg baby? go do a c-sec.
8.11 is a good sized baby, but not nearly the biggest. My friend's mother, and indeed her whole family, has large children. She was 9 lbs. Her brothers were 10 and 12 lbs. She pushed them out vaginally and recovered fine.
Getting a C-section when there's no medical reason is like cutting off your hand when you have a wart.
well ı stıll dınt recover from my delıvery. ı have urınary ıncontınence. maybe due to vacuum ınterverance. ı am scared to have another vagınal delıvery.
ı know so many people who have gotten c*sectıons, 9 out of 10 actıonally 10 out of 10 are pretty happy . ı have heard more complaıns wıth vagınal delıverıes .
ı know vagınal delıvery ıs the natures way but natures way ıs not always the best way.
@hislilarmybrat yea-ıt would be nıce to have vagınal delıvery and not have any complaıns such as urı. ıncontıence, vagınal deformatıon, or pelvıc saggıng etc.. there are so many problems assocıated wıth vagınal delvıery as well.
ı understand what you are sayıng, c-sectıon ıs a surgery at the end ,however, vagınal delvıery ıs not all ınnocent as some people make ıt sound .there are rısks and benefıts to both.
Nature is usually best, though it isn't always wonderful. Childbirth can be a drag, but it doesn't mean a c-section is better. It's only good if it truly is to save the life of the child or mother, and it looks like in 15-20% of the cases, it is COMPLETELY unnecessary and actually put the mother and child at risk compared with a vaginal birth.
It's funny because if your baby is 9 pounds or over, most doctors will make it seem like it's impossible to give birth vaginally. I've talked with so many older women, just as you have, who have had very big babies vaginally. Also, let's not forget that the pelvis is not fixed, it actually expands. The only time it is nearly fixed is when the mother is laying on her back.
8.11 is not too big for a safe vaginal delivery. You should not be able to make decisions that you are completely uneducated on that endanger your health or the health of your baby. If you asked a doctor for a 5 or 6 Valium when you were in labor, he'd look at you like your were crazy, but when women ask for completely unnecessary c-sections (that can endanger mother/child's health), many doctors readily accept. It fits into their schedule better and they make more money.
@IconicaPhotography interesting!! 8.11 ıs big thats almost 9 pounds. ı dont know anyone who delıvers a 9 pound wıthout a tear? usually a vacuum ıs used on a bıg baby and that ıs way more dangerous than c sectıon ın my opınıon. I dont know why c sectıon ıs such a scary thıng ın the states. most people have ıt here ın Turkey even gynecologıst themselves and they are all fıne. they are doıng better than me who delıvered vagınally( ıt wasnt safe at all).
wow thıs ıs amazing. American women love to be a hero I guess :)
Here in Turkey, most women choose yes choose to have a c-sectıon wıth no medıcal reason. some of them are afraıd of the paın and also epıdural bırth ıs not very common here although ıt ıs done. I thınk some people do not want a change ın theır vagına eıther so thıs could be a nother reason but fear of paın and rısks of vagınal bırth lead many women to have a c-sectıon. sınce c-sectıon ıs planned ıt ıs more convenıent .
Does your vagina really change? It's super stretchy. Mine seems pretty much like before. Immediately after I see what you mean, but after a couple of months it seems pretty much business as usual. My boobs however are an entirely different story :)
This was inspirational. The same situation happened with my baby girl, and I want to have my next child via VBAC! Not many people agree with me, but its what I want.
you know i know of some women who get c-section because they don't want their vagina to sag. i think that's such a shallow reason to have a c section.
not really, why woudl ıt be shallow? ı thınk ıf you do not breasfeed youf baby because you dont want your breast to sag, then that ıs shallow and not faır for the baby. but, vagınal devlıery ıs not always healthy. ıf you are havıng a bıg baby the rısk ıs worse than a c-sec. ı had developed urınary ıncontınence due to havıng a 8.11 baby wıth vacuum asssıtance. now ı am lıvıng wıth thıs. thıs ıs not faır to me!
im not talking about women who have c-sections for health reasons. my mom had me via c-section. im talking about the women who request c-sections and have no healthy problems.
@rania3830 ı understand, but even then, we should respect those women . ıt ıs her body at the end. maybe she cant do vagınal-vagınal delıvery ıs dangerous as well. ı dıd not have any health problems, just the baby was measurıng bıg but my doc dıdnt thınk he would come out fıne vagınally and c-sec wasnt necessary. well he was wrong. lıke ı saıd ım stıll sufferııng from vagınal bırth.
at the end, you have to weıght the benefıts and rısks of both delıverıes.
May I add selfish? Irresponsible. And I'm not just saying those things because I'm crazy. It is scientific fact that unnecessary c-section puts mom/baby's health at risk compared to a vaginal delivery. Choosing to put your child's health at risk because you're worried about your precious vag is wrong.
I understand where you are coming from with your experiences; However, had my doctor realized the umbilical cord was wrapped around my son's head and neck and did an emergency c-section my son would still be alive. Both your experiences were wonderful because you had children that lived both times.
That I so awful that your child passed away. My understanding is that usually it's not terribly dangerous if an umbilical cord is wrapped around a child's neck. That happened in both of my births and neither the doctor nor the midwife seemed particularly worried. I asked them both about it and they said it happens all the time. Nonetheless, I'm truly sorry for your experience.
I'm assuming this is an American vid as I am from Australia and over here VBAC's are the done thing, I had a 29 hour labor with my first only to have it end in a very traumatic emergency C-section and have to decide if I want to attempt a VBAC this time round, I really dont want to attempt labor just to have it end that way all over again as it will leave me devastated but I do find it sad that most American women dont even get a choice :(
@ebbygirl85 exactly, they say Amerıca ıs the land of freedom wıth choıces , most of them are lıes.. ı lıved there and saw the real place. Most people do not have much of a choıce when ıt comes to theır health, how sad. ıs lıke a communıst system ın a way. ı was pushed to have a vagınal delıvery when ıt was not approprıate ın my sıtuatıon.
as for you, get a c-sectıon. dont try VBAC. ıt ıs more rısky sınce you already had c-sec. , most gynecologıst themselves get c-sectıon too.
You are such an inspiration to me!! I have had a vaginal and then a c-section. I thought i would be stuck with another c-section when i wanted abother but i will be planning a VBAC!!!!
I'm so happy you got to do this! Unfortunately both of my children were born via c-section & as much as i'm happy to have healthy children it's something that i will never get over. My first was a failed induction (I don't believe i should have been induced for the reason i was) & with my second tried for VBAC, my waters broke on there own but i was induced again due to failed progress & 8 hours on the drip only got me 1cm so it was off to surgery again. I believe that neither were needed.
Hi, I love your video! I am still shattered that i was unable to have my children naturally as it was what i wanted more than anything! I was induced at 38 weeks with my daughter (now 3) due to gestational diabetes as they said that if they had left me full term she would have been huge. 3 days later & every other option tried, my waters were broken & i was put on the drip to start the contractions. I could just tell my baby wasn't ready to enter the world as 12 hours later i was not even 1cm!
hi, i am just watching this now when im already scheduled for a c-section in a week. i live outside the u.s.a and here they encouraged me to go for a VBAC but i am too afraid. Now, after watching these videos online i feel like i dont know what to do and dont even think have enough time. I had a c-section for my first baby cuz she was big, this baby they said i could try a VBAC but i dont know why i feel as if i can't do it cuz i lack experience and support from other women. i am confused!
This video is amazing. I had a similar birth with my first child (a son) and am now beginning my 3rd trimester with my daughter. I am scared and excited at the same time, working towards being ready for a VBAC and praying that the Lord lets it happen. THANK YOU for sharing your story! It is absolutely inspiring and a blessing to my heart tonight. THANK YOU!
beautifull thanxx heaps i had a c section four and half years ago got so scared took mee 3years to think about another baby now i am pregnanat now jut 6 weeks but scared to death and would try my hardest for vbac
I had a c-section with my first and I got to hold/nurse right away. No problems at all. It depends on where you have them. I would almost like a v-bac--but am scared of the pain. But the recovery is faster so...i don't know.
actually i had a c section 22 months ago, and it was the hospitals requirements that c section babys must ALL go to the nursery to be evaulated, i didn't get to even see or feed my son until he was 4 hours old. my birth was tramatizing, i am planning on having a vbac around april! :) beautiful video.
@sissidevore88 sorry i am just getting to this! i hope you had your Vbac! C-sections can be very traumatizing! if you did have to have another one i hope you can heal and use it to help others that dont want one or have to have one as well. look in to Ican-online
Thanks for the video! I had my first daughter 1 year ago via unplanned C-Section due to her flipping breech a week before I went into labor. They tried an external aversion 5 times and she wouldn't budge. I was told there is absolutely NO reason why I shouldn't have a VBAC by my doctors. I recently moved and hope my new doctors feel the same way. I really don't want the long recovery and fear again.
@Kera414 hey! sorry i am just getting back to you on this... i would really look in to midwives in your area birth centers and home-births are very safe! some hospitals have midwifes! do as much educations as you can! ican online and Bradley birth are wonderful!
Thank you for this! I'm due any day with our 2nd - hopefully a VBAC. My doc and hosp. are very supportive thankfully. All I can do now is wait and pray. Thanks again!
I do agree that vaginal is more natural and probably better for baby but some people actually prefer a csection. I'll have my 3rd section this winter and honestly have no sesire to birth vaginally. I like having it scheduled a week or so early and just lying ther having them do all the work! Recover was bnever an issue as I recoved very quickly. I believe in natural things. I breastfeed at least the entire 1st year I dont like unnecessary vacinnes, etc so its a little odd I feel this way
I, too, had CPD with the birth of my first baby...ironically she ended up being my smallest (7-7). Went on to VBAC 2 babies...weighing 8-5 and 8-15. Pushed them out easily. Many, many women diagnosed with CPD with their first baby go on to have bigger babies by VBAC. Find a caregiver committed to helping you with a VBAC..they are out there!
love love love this video!! I have had 3 c/s myself not for anything that I would say saved my babies life; just for the doctors unwillingness to let my body do what God made it to do. My 4th child I just recently delivered vaginally and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. I had to fight to do it harder then I fought for anything else in my life but I did it. I couldn't see myself having another c/s and caring for a newborn and 3 other children one of them a toddler
I had three c sections and I have never been seperated from my babies longer then it took for them to clean them up, get them breathing properly and have daddy bathe them. 45 mins tops..and dad was with them the whole time. 5 hours? you must have had something go on or the baby had issues
I had both of my children quite easily through natural childbirth.
However, my best friend has a serious medical condition and HAD to have a c-section to save her child. It took her a long time to recover, but she's just glad to have her child.
Sometimes a c-section is completely unavoidable. Don't make the procedure a villian, it has saved lives.
@sonas76 I too had a cesarean that was necessary to save the lives of myself and my son. But more than half of cesareans are unnecessary and caused by the cascade of medical interventions. It's not the preocedure that is the villian, it's the process.
I don't know your friend's unique experience, but I guarantee the nearly 30% of women truly believe (because their doctors told them so) that they HAD to have a c-section. We know that 15-20% SHOULD NOT have had them. Something is wrong wit this picture.
CONGRATULATIONS, well done, and good on you for believing in yourself, your body and your baby.
my first was born by ceasarian due to pre eclamsia, dissappointing but he was born alive and i was awake to see it, my second was a VBAC, and my third was ceasarian for the same reason as my first, i am very verbally about natural birth over intervention, the pain goes away with vaginal birth it lingers for weeks with ceasarian. good for you!!!!
I'm very happy for your vbac, unfortunately I couldn't do it :(, my first son was born by c-section because he was breech, 2 weeks ago I tried to do vbac with no success, I pushed 2 hours and ended up getting a c-section which was more painful than my first one, I still cry a lot about not being able to do vbac, but it was worth the try, so I encourage everyone to do it
@Kdramafan1022 i am so sorry i am a doula and have had moms try for a Vbac and for some reason ended up in a C-S :( its really really hard... i am sorry. i am sure you know how wonderful the labor and pushing was for your baby! good job for not just taking the "advice" and scheduling one at 38 weeks! all you can do it try to do whats best for you and your family proud of you!
I am soo glad that some women have the right to choose how their child enters this world. i wish I could say the same... After a bad experience with and emergency c-section in the birth of my first son I was notified I won't be able to ever have a VBAC... I wish i could, b/c i panicked under a spinal block & was put to sleep, wasn't allowed to see my son, who was hooked to IV's and being monitored in the Nursery til nearly 7 hours after his birth..... Good luck to all with Personal choices~!!!
It's so good to see women having natural births after c-sections. I wish I could do it but can't, (I have CPD) and ended up having a c-section after 22 hours of labor and only getting to 3 cm. I wanted to have a natural birth so bad!! That's why I guess it's so good to see people having natural births instead and having faith in their bodies.
Soooo beautiful....so inspiring....thank you so much for sharing! The birth of your son is identical to mine and I am praying that the kind of birth that you had with your daughter is the birth that we will get to expereince with ours very soon. Thank you for letting other women know that they are not alone and that WE can take control of our bodies!
thanks for that info, Im on the way just weeks away from a vbac. This is my 8th baby and my last was a c-section, she is fine!
I am scared very scared of splitting during contractions but more scared of another c section, after 6 vaginal births I will do anything to avoid a c section again, i want to feel like i have achieved and honestly having a csection is very dissapointing and not the same bonding experience with my other babies,so lets pray I have that choice
thank you for posting this video. I am planning on a vbac and everything I can find that supports decision makes me very happy. wonderful video! I had tears in my eyes.
I really feel that if a mom does all the research she can on C-sections and vaginal births, when she is correctly informed, she will choose to have a natural birth
OMG i cant agree more....i have done both my first son was C-section my second son was natural everyone asks me if its the healing time is why i prefer natural and i tell them NO...its an ego pride thing.....i tell them my first son was taken from me my second son i gave birth too i felt "complete" as a woman having bringing my son into the world as he should have been its the BEST feeling in the world to give birth naturally.... C-Section vs VBAC.......no conetest
Here's a question for anyone reading, if a couple decide to plan a child and the mother has already considered options of birth and wants a c-section yet the father wants the mother to have a natural birth, who's opinion should be chosen, I beleive it should be the mother's as its her body not the father's.
I think the couple should try and reach a decision together. Are there medical reasons for choosing one over the other. Ultimately, it should be about what's the best for the baby not what the parents want? But that said, when the father gets to go through the labor and delivery, then the final decision is his. Until, then the mother has the final decision.
Did it, i meant the mother has to go through, No in this case there is no medical reasons however the mother to be does have a family history of breach births, however her decision is based on personal preference. I can understand what your saying but why should it be best for the baby, i mean why does their life mean more than yours. I believe its down to the individual who is pregnant for the final decision.
If you don't care about what's best for the baby before it's even born, why are you having a kid in the first place? And if you're incapable of putting the life of your child first, especially, because of "personal preferences", then you really shouldn't be having a child in the first place. That child has no choice but to rely on your for ALL of its wants and needs for several years. If you can't handle that responsibility, then you seriously need to make the choice not to have a child.
I'm not the one thinking of having kids at least not for another 10 years, and second I did not say I don't care about the child I said I think both lives should be taken into consideration not just the child's and also how dare you make assumptions like that when you don't know me or anything about me whatsoever. And no i do not need to make that choice as having a planned c-section does not make you a bad mother,
It's called using the "non-specific you." It has fewer characters than "the mother". I wasn't referring to you personally, but to the "hypothetical" couple/mother you introduced in your original question. I really couldn't care less about your personal choices. Just as the random opinions of people on the internet should have no influence on them. Consult your family, shrink or priest for that. But why so defensive? Did I hit a nerve? May you should get off the computer and examine why that is.
Yes and i was simply stating my opinion on the matter just like you did. And I don't need to consult family or a shrink, and im not relgious so i defiantly wont be going to a priest. No it did not hit a nerve. I have strong opinions on several subjects which I've mentioned one of them, I accept your view is different but you can't seem to do the same so its you that has the problem.
And no one gives a shit about what you think either; I didn't ask if you care, I said that because your making assumptions that is not true. Ps: Stop with the patronising remarks.
Who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself? Again, take a closer look at what you're trying to say and how you're saying it, Anyway, you asked for an opinion. I gave it. Don't get upset because it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Don't ask a question in a public forum if you aren't willing to accept responses that don't agree with yours That makes YOU (yes specifcally you) narrow-minded - amongst other things.
I'm not trying to convince anyone. All Im saying is what i believe, and if you don't agree then thats fine but you obviously haven't heard of respecting other peoples views.
Well the difference between me and you is that i know what the definition of a fact is. hence im not a child nor ignorant as I'm not the one who can't accept someone having a different view.
Fabulous video. I had a difficult, unexpected & unwanted cesarean surgery with my first baby, which led to complications for me and her. I had a wonderful, hard-work but felt-great, easy recovery homebirth VBAC with my second baby. Absolutely true, I too "love both my babies but feel very differently about their births." Thank you for making & sharing this montage.
wonderful video and thx very much for the sharing. It is just so touching and can not help tearing. Natural birth is so important to a mom, and the experience is invaluable while the society is gradually ignoring it. Support natural birth.
I tried for a natural birth but ended up with a c-section. Natural birth wasn't important to me though. If I have another baby, I will go for the c-section for two reasons. I am afraid to do a vbac, plus, I never want to feel another contraction again. lol
I support your view, I've never had kids but when and if i do, its c-section, it was made illegal in england for some strange reason i would simply go abroad if i was already heavily pregnant.
I had 2 c-sections, the first in 2007 and the second in 2008. The first one really wasn't that bad and wasn't by choice. However, the second one was by choice and it was the scariest thing in my entire life. I was 'froze' too high and couldn't breath. I encourage ALL you ladies to try natural, even though I have never done it.
I think its down to personal opinion as everybody has different experiences with each option, All though i wish it was possible for men to have babies instead as they can see what its really like.
that almost NEVER happens with a Natural Vbac.there are a lot more compilations that come from C-sections. There are numerous horror stories of c-sections as well, hysterectomys, moms death, babys death. I would encourage you to at least meet with a midwife to talk about what you had your C-setion the first time, and the true risks and statistics on Vbacs. Its also important to remember that all the studies done before 2000 included inductions, witch was the cause of all the ruptures.
This wonderful story so badly makes me want to attempt a VBAC with my daughter who is due in March 09-- I have researched intensively - my experience with Csection was no walk in the park --- however I have also seen the tear jerking story of what happens when a VBAC dosnt go well-- and after the mothers uterus ripped it took them 20 min to get her dear baby out of her-- the baby went 6 min without air was rushed to icu and the mom had to have a full hysterectomy in order to save her life--
The vbac was one of the most wonderful experiences my wife & I have ever shared. My wife & I had a C-sectionfirst, then had a Vbac. We researched exstensively before deciding to have the VBAC. As DjDearing said, you should really consult a couple of midwives & doulas, for a while, before you definitively decide against it...Your body & your baby will appreciate you in the end ;o)
That was a beautiful video. Did you discuss with your doctor or midwife what you wanted when you VBAC'd? It is good to see that they worked with you on your second birth.
Thanks for such a beautiful video. After 36 hours of labour I had to have a c with my first child, 21 months ago. My second is due sept 30th and I'm praying for a vbac. Your story gives me hope, thank you!
Your video was so beautiful thanks so much for sharing. After 33 hrs of labor with my son i never want to go through that again. Now i'm 32 wks pregnant with a little girl with gastroschisis (her intestines are growing outside her body and my doctors want me to have a vag delivery. I'm fighting for a c-section and will have a c-section. This is 2008 and we should be able to choose which ever method we are most comfortable with.
Thank you for posting this wonderful video, My first daughter was born in july last year by c-section after only 12 hours of labor because the dorctor didnt want me to labor to long... i am researching vbac's feverishly for my next birth, and this video was excellent in showing the differences :) bless you and your lovely family!
Things like this make me wish I had taken more pictures of all 3 of my births...
I too, had a c-section w/my first child, and went on to have 2 wonderful VBACs. The absolute best experience of my life...watching this brought it all back. Thank you for posting this and getting ICAN's name out there. Without those wonderful women I would not have ended up where I am today, on my way to be a CNM...hoping to change the system from the inside :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! My first daughter was c-section and it's just sooo important to get support from people that share your views for your delivery. Thank you for encouraging and giving me the strength to continue on in my pursuits for what I know in my heart I am capable of doing for my second pregnancy! Afterall I Can Do All Things In Christ Who Strengthens Me!!!! :)
Beautiful, I cried. My ob was determined to give me a c-section from the moment he met me b/c i have a uterine anomaly. I got a perinatologist to tell him that it would be fine for me to have her vaginally, but after 19 hours of labor and only at 4cm, her heart rate kept dropping b/c of the strong contractions pitocin (which I had not wanted)brought on, so I was sectioned. I hope to find a VBAC friendly ob for my next birth.
I said I wasn't going to cry lol I want this so bad and only God can make it happen. Trust that HE has given our bodies the tools needed to birth naturally.
Wow. This made me in TEARS. I am 33 weeks pregnant with my second child, and had my first (Noah, now 2) by C-section. I want more than anything to have a v bac. It is my hope and I am pushing and pushing to do so. I want a natural vbac! I want to nurse my baby, and not have him rushed off to the nicu due to fluid from the c section. You are my inspiration after seeing this video. Thank you!
Wow, I am so glad I am not the only woman who feels that a c-section deprived her of what is "normal". Because of an epidural everything with my first delivery went wrong and after 24 hours resulted in a "C". 3 weeks ago I just delivered my second child but I was forced into another "C" because Havasu refuses to allow VBACs which I so desperately wanted but instead of travelling 3 hours to somewhere that allowed them I stayed here. My experiences were both horrible for bonding w/ my babies after
I think that Drs scare you with all the stories about the uterus rupturing & all that stuff. But you say I could actually try VBAC even after 2 c-sections? Tell me more!
This comment was supposed to be for riskeebehavior. Some women have medical issues that only allow a "C" and in no way do I feel I was deprived, even though mine was not due to an epidural.
I do believe pain medication still makes a vaginal delivery normal. I wanted pain medication, but wasn't sold on the epidural, I was around 5 cm & the nurses told me either I get the epidural now or never cause the Dr. would be in surgery for the next 3 hours & so being a first timer I didn't realize yes I could have waited. So I got it & my BP dropped 80/30 & the baby's heart rate dropped to so they took me off pitocin & it caused my cervix to swell. I do regret this too much!
I just always feel that something was taken from me. I just can't explain it I guess. I just had to have my 2nd "C" on Feb. 13 this year & I thought that definently after 2 "C's" you have to have them forever, & no chance for VBAC
Your video is amazing. I had a cesarean with my first child born 9-1-07 and I feel as if I got deprieved of the whole experience. When they took her out of me I got a glance, literally a glance at her, and they gave me medicine to knock me out. Without even warning me. I finally seen my her 7 hours later. That is horrible. But you are an inspiration to mothers like me b/c I will have a VBAC. How old was your son before you got pregnant again? Oh and thanks so much for sharing your experience!
How awesome! I love how you portrayed the differences in birth. I also think it is awesome that you successfully vbac'd less than the recommended 18 months from your last section. You did it and your uterus didn't explode. Birth is 95% safe and you showed that.
the vbac was at Baylor in Dallas TX with midwife Linsey Keagel Stephens, she was a God send! i have had 8 friends switch over to her and 3 more cant wait!

What happened? Why did the doctor want to perform a c-section?
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
I have commented on thıs before but I wanted to share somethıng: ı dont thınk vagınal bırth should be pushed on a patıent. I was pushed to gıve vagınal delıvery. my baby was 8.11, now that ıs crazy! of course ı ended up gettıng epıdural and vacuum.. whıch ıs even worse than c-sec. ı should have had c-sec, but my doc wanted everythıng "natural" or maybe he worrıed about the health ınsurance and wanted to save his .... you know what ı mean. natural ıs not always the best,bıg baby? go do a c-sec.
gunesgun 1 year ago
@gunesgun
8.11 is a good sized baby, but not nearly the biggest. My friend's mother, and indeed her whole family, has large children. She was 9 lbs. Her brothers were 10 and 12 lbs. She pushed them out vaginally and recovered fine.
Getting a C-section when there's no medical reason is like cutting off your hand when you have a wart.
hislilarmybrat 1 year ago
@hislilarmybrat 8.11 ıs almost 9 pound.
well ı stıll dınt recover from my delıvery. ı have urınary ıncontınence. maybe due to vacuum ınterverance. ı am scared to have another vagınal delıvery.
ı know so many people who have gotten c*sectıons, 9 out of 10 actıonally 10 out of 10 are pretty happy . ı have heard more complaıns wıth vagınal delıverıes .
ı know vagınal delıvery ıs the natures way but natures way ıs not always the best way.
gunesgun 1 year ago
@gunesgun
I don't know a person who's been unhappy with a vaginal delivery, but know a few who are unhappy with their unnecessary C-sections.
Natures way is not always best, if you want to live, but we muck about too much with Mother Nature and we need to stop.
hislilarmybrat 1 year ago
@hislilarmybrat yea-ıt would be nıce to have vagınal delıvery and not have any complaıns such as urı. ıncontıence, vagınal deformatıon, or pelvıc saggıng etc.. there are so many problems assocıated wıth vagınal delvıery as well.
ı understand what you are sayıng, c-sectıon ıs a surgery at the end ,however, vagınal delvıery ıs not all ınnocent as some people make ıt sound .there are rısks and benefıts to both.
gunesgun 1 year ago
There are a lot more associated with c-section.
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
Nature is usually best, though it isn't always wonderful. Childbirth can be a drag, but it doesn't mean a c-section is better. It's only good if it truly is to save the life of the child or mother, and it looks like in 15-20% of the cases, it is COMPLETELY unnecessary and actually put the mother and child at risk compared with a vaginal birth.
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
It's funny because if your baby is 9 pounds or over, most doctors will make it seem like it's impossible to give birth vaginally. I've talked with so many older women, just as you have, who have had very big babies vaginally. Also, let's not forget that the pelvis is not fixed, it actually expands. The only time it is nearly fixed is when the mother is laying on her back.
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
8.11 is not too big for a safe vaginal delivery. You should not be able to make decisions that you are completely uneducated on that endanger your health or the health of your baby. If you asked a doctor for a 5 or 6 Valium when you were in labor, he'd look at you like your were crazy, but when women ask for completely unnecessary c-sections (that can endanger mother/child's health), many doctors readily accept. It fits into their schedule better and they make more money.
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
@IconicaPhotography interesting!! 8.11 ıs big thats almost 9 pounds. ı dont know anyone who delıvers a 9 pound wıthout a tear? usually a vacuum ıs used on a bıg baby and that ıs way more dangerous than c sectıon ın my opınıon. I dont know why c sectıon ıs such a scary thıng ın the states. most people have ıt here ın Turkey even gynecologıst themselves and they are all fıne. they are doıng better than me who delıvered vagınally( ıt wasnt safe at all).
gunesgun 6 months ago
wow thıs ıs amazing. American women love to be a hero I guess :)
Here in Turkey, most women choose yes choose to have a c-sectıon wıth no medıcal reason. some of them are afraıd of the paın and also epıdural bırth ıs not very common here although ıt ıs done. I thınk some people do not want a change ın theır vagına eıther so thıs could be a nother reason but fear of paın and rısks of vagınal bırth lead many women to have a c-sectıon. sınce c-sectıon ıs planned ıt ıs more convenıent .
gunesgun 1 year ago
Does your vagina really change? It's super stretchy. Mine seems pretty much like before. Immediately after I see what you mean, but after a couple of months it seems pretty much business as usual. My boobs however are an entirely different story :)

This was inspirational. The same situation happened with my baby girl, and I want to have my next child via VBAC! Not many people agree with me, but its what I want.

you know i know of some women who get c-section because they don't want their vagina to sag. i think that's such a shallow reason to have a c section.
rania3830 1 year ago
@rania3830
not really, why woudl ıt be shallow? ı thınk ıf you do not breasfeed youf baby because you dont want your breast to sag, then that ıs shallow and not faır for the baby. but, vagınal devlıery ıs not always healthy. ıf you are havıng a bıg baby the rısk ıs worse than a c-sec. ı had developed urınary ıncontınence due to havıng a 8.11 baby wıth vacuum asssıtance. now ı am lıvıng wıth thıs. thıs ıs not faır to me!
gunesgun 1 year ago
@gunesgun
im not talking about women who have c-sections for health reasons. my mom had me via c-section. im talking about the women who request c-sections and have no healthy problems.
rania3830 1 year ago
@rania3830 ı understand, but even then, we should respect those women . ıt ıs her body at the end. maybe she cant do vagınal-vagınal delıvery ıs dangerous as well. ı dıd not have any health problems, just the baby was measurıng bıg but my doc dıdnt thınk he would come out fıne vagınally and c-sec wasnt necessary. well he was wrong. lıke ı saıd ım stıll sufferııng from vagınal bırth.
at the end, you have to weıght the benefıts and rısks of both delıverıes.
gunesgun 1 year ago
May I add selfish? Irresponsible. And I'm not just saying those things because I'm crazy. It is scientific fact that unnecessary c-section puts mom/baby's health at risk compared to a vaginal delivery. Choosing to put your child's health at risk because you're worried about your precious vag is wrong.
IconicaPhotography 6 months ago
I understand where you are coming from with your experiences; However, had my doctor realized the umbilical cord was wrapped around my son's head and neck and did an emergency c-section my son would still be alive. Both your experiences were wonderful because you had children that lived both times.
nicocoal 1 year ago
@nicocoal ws yours a vagınal or c-sec ?
gunesgun 1 year ago
That I so awful that your child passed away. My understanding is that usually it's not terribly dangerous if an umbilical cord is wrapped around a child's neck. That happened in both of my births and neither the doctor nor the midwife seemed particularly worried. I asked them both about it and they said it happens all the time. Nonetheless, I'm truly sorry for your experience.

I'm assuming this is an American vid as I am from Australia and over here VBAC's are the done thing, I had a 29 hour labor with my first only to have it end in a very traumatic emergency C-section and have to decide if I want to attempt a VBAC this time round, I really dont want to attempt labor just to have it end that way all over again as it will leave me devastated but I do find it sad that most American women dont even get a choice :(
ebbygirl85 1 year ago

TheJewlie 1 year ago

5 hours? you must have had something go on or the baby had issues
nagaempress 2 years ago
I had both of my children quite easily through natural childbirth.
However, my best friend has a serious medical condition and HAD to have a c-section to save her child. It took her a long time to recover, but she's just glad to have her child.
Sometimes a c-section is completely unavoidable. Don't make the procedure a villian, it has saved lives.
sonas76 2 years ago 6
I agree its not the birth but the baby that we are longing for! C sections have saved many lives!
nagaempress 2 years ago
@sonas76 I too had a cesarean that was necessary to save the lives of myself and my son. But more than half of cesareans are unnecessary and caused by the cascade of medical interventions. It's not the preocedure that is the villian, it's the process.
victory52002 1 year ago

C-Section vs VBAC.......no conetest
TiffieTube 2 years ago
Fair enough but I know people who have done research into both and chosen a c -section birth or those who have emergency c-sections
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
Here's a question for anyone reading, if a couple decide to plan a child and the mother has already considered options of birth and wants a c-section yet the father wants the mother to have a natural birth, who's opinion should be chosen, I beleive it should be the mother's as its her body not the father's.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
I think the couple should try and reach a decision together. Are there medical reasons for choosing one over the other. Ultimately, it should be about what's the best for the baby not what the parents want? But that said, when the father gets to go through the labor and delivery, then the final decision is his. Until, then the mother has the final decision.
GaelinW 2 years ago
Did it, i meant the mother has to go through, No in this case there is no medical reasons however the mother to be does have a family history of breach births, however her decision is based on personal preference. I can understand what your saying but why should it be best for the baby, i mean why does their life mean more than yours. I believe its down to the individual who is pregnant for the final decision.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
If you don't care about what's best for the baby before it's even born, why are you having a kid in the first place? And if you're incapable of putting the life of your child first, especially, because of "personal preferences", then you really shouldn't be having a child in the first place. That child has no choice but to rely on your for ALL of its wants and needs for several years. If you can't handle that responsibility, then you seriously need to make the choice not to have a child.
GaelinW 2 years ago
I'm not the one thinking of having kids at least not for another 10 years, and second I did not say I don't care about the child I said I think both lives should be taken into consideration not just the child's and also how dare you make assumptions like that when you don't know me or anything about me whatsoever. And no i do not need to make that choice as having a planned c-section does not make you a bad mother,
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
It's called using the "non-specific you." It has fewer characters than "the mother". I wasn't referring to you personally, but to the "hypothetical" couple/mother you introduced in your original question. I really couldn't care less about your personal choices. Just as the random opinions of people on the internet should have no influence on them. Consult your family, shrink or priest for that. But why so defensive? Did I hit a nerve? May you should get off the computer and examine why that is.
GaelinW 2 years ago
Yes and i was simply stating my opinion on the matter just like you did. And I don't need to consult family or a shrink, and im not relgious so i defiantly wont be going to a priest. No it did not hit a nerve. I have strong opinions on several subjects which I've mentioned one of them, I accept your view is different but you can't seem to do the same so its you that has the problem.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
"im not relgious so i defiantly wont be going to a priest"
-------
again, no one cares. And you really should look up the word facetious. It would save you a lot of typing.
GaelinW 2 years ago
And no one gives a shit about what you think either; I didn't ask if you care, I said that because your making assumptions that is not true. Ps: Stop with the patronising remarks.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
I will when you stop acting like a child and making it so easy.
GaelinW 2 years ago
sounds like your the child here to be honest, why don't you grow up and act your age!
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
I know plenty of women that have gone for a planned c -section and they all and the children are perfectly fine.
The child is incapable of making that decision so I believe it should be down to the parents. You are so narrow-minded.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
Who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself? Again, take a closer look at what you're trying to say and how you're saying it, Anyway, you asked for an opinion. I gave it. Don't get upset because it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Don't ask a question in a public forum if you aren't willing to accept responses that don't agree with yours That makes YOU (yes specifcally you) narrow-minded - amongst other things.
GaelinW 2 years ago
I'm not trying to convince anyone. All Im saying is what i believe, and if you don't agree then thats fine but you obviously haven't heard of respecting other peoples views.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
Yeah, like "You are so narrow-minded." was so accepting and respectful.
GaelinW 2 years ago
well if you bother to read what you sent before that then you'd see that I'm only stating a fact.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
You are stating no more a fact than I would if I were to call you an ignorant child.
GaelinW 2 years ago
Well the difference between me and you is that i know what the definition of a fact is. hence im not a child nor ignorant as I'm not the one who can't accept someone having a different view.
kittykat19892007 2 years ago
Well, you need to go back to school then. Because what you stated was an opinion, not fact.

It's not too late to change your mind about the cesarean. My son was born at home after a classical cesarean. I did it! And you can too.

that almost NEVER happens with a Natural Vbac.there are a lot more compilations that come from C-sections.

Thank you again...this was beautiful.

What a phenomenal slideshow. Without ICAN, I would not have had my amazing HBA2C. Thank you so much for sharing and giving out ICAN's information.
Congratulations!!!

My experiences were both horrible for bonding w/ my babies after

i am so sorry to hear your story, there are so many moms out there like you. a Vbac after 2c can happen!
camrondearing 3 years ago
I think that Drs scare you with all the stories about the uterus rupturing & all that stuff. But you say I could actually try VBAC even after 2 c-sections? Tell me more!
riskeebehavior 3 years ago
If you wanted a "normal" childbirth, why did you have an epidural in the first place?
donth8thagr8 3 years ago
This comment was supposed to be for riskeebehavior. Some women have medical issues that only allow a "C" and in no way do I feel I was deprived, even though mine was not due to an epidural.
donth8thagr8 3 years ago
I do believe pain medication still makes a vaginal delivery normal. I wanted pain medication, but wasn't sold on the epidural, I was around 5 cm & the nurses told me either I get the epidural now or never cause the Dr. would be in surgery for the next 3 hours & so being a first timer I didn't realize yes I could have waited. So I got it & my BP dropped 80/30 & the baby's heart rate dropped to so they took me off pitocin & it caused my cervix to swell. I do regret this too much!
riskeebehavior 3 years ago
I just always feel that something was taken from me. I just can't explain it I guess. I just had to have my 2nd "C" on Feb. 13 this year & I thought that definently after 2 "C's" you have to have them forever, & no chance for VBAC
riskeebehavior 3 years ago
Your video is amazing. I had a cesarean with my first child born 9-1-07 and I feel as if I got deprieved of the whole experience. When they took her out of me I got a glance, literally a glance at her, and they gave me medicine to knock me out. Without even warning me. I finally seen my her 7 hours later. That is horrible. But you are an inspiration to mothers like me b/c I will have a VBAC. How old was your son before you got pregnant again? Oh and thanks so much for sharing your experience!
cadencemommy 3 years ago
hey! my son was 5 months old.. they are 14 months apart! good luck on your vbac!
camrondearing 3 years ago
Why did they knock you out after she was already born? Was there complications or something?

How awesome! I love how you portrayed the differences in birth. I also think it is awesome that you successfully vbac'd less than the recommended 18 months from your last section. You did it and your uterus didn't explode. Birth is 95% safe and you showed that.
doulapam 3 years ago
Beautiful mama. Beautiful. What an honest, heartfelt, and direct portrayal of the differences in birth practices.
Good job, God bless!
