I picked one up from pc world for £15, I was like "what the hell, my moneys got to be wasted on something", very good for the price.... unless it dies soon :(
Thanks Elise! Electronics are mega-cheap in Switzerland (they are about the only thing here that is cheap) for some reason. So if you know someone that happens to be going to Switzerland, bung them a few quid and ask them to buy you a really cheap SD card.
I use a casio exilim, which is a cracking little camera for photos but complete crap for video. My vids always look like there are blobs of clear jelly falling from the sky. Any tips, hints, comments from anyone would be much appreciated.
I just set mine to the highest possible setting and try to get the light right. It's all you can do with the basic cameras. Sometimes you can fiddle at the editing stage, but it's usually too late to fix some stuff. Oh and if it's got a choice of focus settings or white balance fiddle until you get the one that looks best. Manual is best but if it's all auto then you just have to experiment.
Elise,I hope some video people will back me up on this.I understand about the cheap cam to do quick videos/small files. This audio is what to try to fix,if fixable. The lighting can compensate for cheap cam, like a blanket behind you to isolate you in the frame(back drop),and pour on the NATURAL sunlight for color and clarity(sharpness). But I really hope you can use an external microphone somehow, even if it requires a mixer.
Currys. They kept trying to not sell it to me saying 'oh the camera is no good, you don't want that' - I pointed out it doesn't matter. I got a an SD card and a card reader out of the deal.
I knew the day would come, never mind getting a free SD card, get the camera free, love it, the cheapest I have found SDs at the moment (sadly minus a camera) is £15.36 for two 2gig scandisk ones
Yes it's not the best in the word but it's not bad if I want to do a quick video and don't want to waste HOURS trying to make my computer do anything (the files are so much smaller!)
If you're looking for a better editing program than windows movie maker, you might want to try Adobe Premier Elements. It's pretty cheap and way better than windows movie maker. I use ULEAD for my editing, but it's a little intensive for just making youtube vids (expensive, too).

Cant you configure your other camera to record at a lower sample rate? That would cut the file size down?
kyral210 3 years ago
Possibly - but I want the best possible picture from the other one. This one I get what I get!

What?
They didn't throw in a set of steak knives?!

Well it's totally in synchronization but a bit "Soft"(less clarity), but fine and all with sound.
I doubt your attempted redder auburn hair will show up grand unless there's lighting and camera settings to be explored.
There is some evidence of blue/aqua eyes here so it can't be all that bad.

Hi Elise,
Nice little camera by the look of it. How long do the batteries seem to last?
Surprisingly good image quality though. A bit soft but that's probably more of an advantage than a disadvantage with a low resolution sensor.
