Excellent! I can see that kitty used some of your record sleeves to sharpen claws! I had a kitty that did the same thing once 30 years ago.
Never heard that song by Ruth Etting before but I like it. Odd how she takes the bridge part down an octave - like it wasn't really in her key - but still cool. Nice machine too. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, what's that from your freezer? How come you didn't offer to share? I love the upbeat ending to this version. Have you heard the Gracie Fields version? It's great too and findable somewhere here on youtube.
Sweet!! No, it isn't the "decadent" Weimar version, but then Marlene can't sing with the purity of tone, and wide eyed honesty (no irony here!) of Ruth.
One's the salt and one's the pepper. Each enlivens and increases the appreciation for the other.
Mr. Jim
P. S. And Ruth's version is more musical than Mr. Burroughs version, as well.
I really liked the up tempo part of the song in the last part. Nice to hear Ruth Etting singing the song in a faster tempo than is usual for this song.
Great record - Ruth Etting is wonderful. She was often accompanied by piano. The pianist accompanying Ruth in this record is a very good - the rythmic piano style of the 30's is not easy to play.

Great singing by Ruth, but this upbeat American version just does not have the Weimar era Dietrich-style bite to it you automaticaly wait for.
