My son is 21 now. He is away at Uni and I phone him most nights to make sure he is ok, and he comes home most weekends. I have never left him alone, even as a teenager. I believe that any parent, whether guilty or not would feel grief for losing their child. As someone who believes that her parents were involved in her disappearance, i think that yes, they are to blame, they should never have left their child alone that night, it doesnt matter if their friends were doing the same thing, they take responsibilty for their children and their children alone, and unfortunetly Madeleine was the one to disappear...so they say...

when the parents came to the room and found the girl missing one neigbour said to call the police. the mother of the girl said they had already call the police but she was lying. they only call the police 45 minutes later

After all the media exposure, the interviews, etc, their story hasn't changed and neither of them have broken or said something inappropriate. Am I missing something? How come the kidnapper only took the little girl? And by the way, I have a 4 year old son...and I wouldn't EVEN THINK about leaving ANYWHERE without him. If my son woke up and I wasn't there he would scream and cry for me, and completely freak out. Too young to leave alone...sleeping or not.

Comments below paint the McC's as white as snow. In my opinion the McC's are guilty of concealing a crime. If you came across a crime scene, would you mess with it? (DNA etc.?) The Mccann's ceased all legal parental right's on Madeleine the minute they took out the Ward of Court order with Mrs Justice Hogg, 17th May 2007, thereby ceasing the Portugese police investigation for Madeline as they were no longer by EU rule's pemitted to act for the McCann's being no longer Madeleine's legal parents. I agree that I think she is still alive, but i believe that they will find her one day... it might be like ten years or something but I think they will find her.
She had that mark in her eyes and that makes her different, so when she is old enough she will notice that or somebody around her will.
With Ben he didnt really have an distinctive marks on him so he wouldnt know who he really is

this just doesn't add up. If there was some idiot out there who wanted to kidnap a child, why did the person choose Madeleine. I mean wouldn't it be easier to take someone who was already outside, in stead of spying on the Maccanns for so long. yea i guess some people are that sick!, I have been watching the movie about how the parents might have been the murderers, and weird enough it makes sense. Cuz appereantly some kind of speciel-investegation dogs freaked out at the parents apartment, and car. DNA tests have shown that i might have been madeleines blood. + the stories of the friends don't seem to match with the timing.....it's hard to find out what to believe.

I think it's clear the parents didn't do it. If they killed their child, why would they put sooo much effort in to trying to find her. I know it may be expected of them, but they have outdone what is expecteded of them and I think if they had done it they would try to lay low and not make appearances on Oprah.

It's pretty obvious, as you said, they wouldn't want to make appearances on Oprah or anything like that, plus why kill one kid, why not kill em' all. I believe that any parent, whether guilty or not would feel grief for losing their child. As someone who believes that her parents were involved in her disappearance, i think that yes, they are to blame, they should never have left their child alone that night, it doesnt matter if their friends were doing the same thing, they take responsibilty for their children and their children alone, and unfortunetly Madeleine was the one to disappear...so they say...

i'm portuguese and i've seen the story since the beggining. portuguese police found the parents guilty but didnt have the courage to accuse them.
when the parents came to the room and found the girl missing one neigbour said to call the police. the mother of the girl said they had already call the police but she was lying. they only call the police 45 minutes later

Well, I'm Irish and no, our police force is far from perfect and our judicial system is probably worse (totally on side of perpetrator).
However, that is not the point - we are discussing Madeline McCann and the disgraceful way her parents were treated. Of course they should have been suspects at the start but it became very obvious very soon that they were innocent yet the police in Portugal kept them as suspects. One can only think that they had no other clues so just pick the easy option

they have evidences. but do you know what happened to the main investigator of this case? He was removed from the investigation. he wrote a book explaining tthe things he discovered but werent considered on the oficialy investigation.
the mccanns had the best legal and political support. they have visited even the pope. can you imagine any parent of missing children visiting the pope?

this was not a regular case treated only by portuguese police.
there was media, political influences and
private investigators from spain and england. portuguese police wasn't working alone.
there was a lot of pression on the police to conclude this case was a kidnaping when all evidences say that the parents know much more than what they said till now

We will have to agree to disagree. I'm not a psychologist but I think if the McCanns were guilty, then Hollywood should present them with Academy awards if they are convicted. After all the media exposure, the interviews, etc, their story hasn't changed and neither of them have broken or said something inappropriate. I've seen some criminals being caught out in the media for saying something that implicated themselves or their body language gave something away - i take my hat off to the McCanns
