I'll take Susan Boyle's version anytime. I feel the song should be be in the slow, mellow version that Susan did. Lou Reed does not sing he recites the song. And Renee Fleming despite her great voice is quite theatrical and operatic lMO. Definitely not suitable for a slow tempo song like a Perfect Day.
I watched Susan Boyles version too and I really like her voice but it just isn't the same if it isn't Lou saying "you made think I was someone else, someone good." And if you can't understand that, and based on what sells most don't, you unfortunately miss out on an entire aspect of music that is so wonderfully rich that I feel sorry for you. But if you don't realize you're missing something, you don't miss it!

I don't think that Fleming is slumming singing the song, just showing what can be done with it. A lot of singers could do more with it than its author speaking it.
what the hell is this? I love both singers but not together, no way, It´s sort of the three tenors singing pop songs and with a lot of different singers. Pavarotti meets Pausini sort of crap. Sorry but didn´t like it.
This is such a great performance by two such disparate voices, both rich and heartfelt. One only has to look at the face of Madeline Albright to see how beautiful this is.
