man I took all my mantronix 12' singles made a huge almost hour remix with my casio sampler and sst , using pause recording ,samplin, flangin, some scratches care of d.j. calloway, a golden era.!
@skipsch Dude I know it's not the real thing, but most good audio software today has an 808 sampler/sequencer. I know Logic does on MAC and Fruity Loops does on PC.
maaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!!! this takes a fella back! when this jam came out i thought it was one person. my man had to hip me taht it was "mc tee" and moantronic>> blew me away..
This is not old skool hip hop, this is real hip hop. This is creative intelligence at its best! You see, as soon as the man with the money figures out he can make money off of something that's raw and alive, it all goes to shit.
I used to Radio-Raheem this joint back in the day! I straight up had a cassette single with this on one side and needle to the groove on the other...girls thought I was the man! We used to rock this in the bandroom at my high school it was the joint.
Was an original B-BOY back in the early 80s...Joined the UK Military in 85 and whilst in training, would take my Boom Box into the wash rooms in the morning playing Mantronix album...Got into so many fights over this sound...41 years old and still loving Electro.....
I call that a B-BOY...but you might as well wear the Gucci kicks and complete the whole outfit. Hey weren't Gazzels the fake ones. Chazels I are the real ones. Yup I was a NYC player! One more thing. The dookie chains were hollow so you got to get the inch thick herringbone.
yeah! i had both the dookie and bigboy herringbone. and i was only fourteen at that time , running shit around town for my big brother(RIP). BUT YEAH WHATEVER THE CASE YA GOTA ADMIT THOSE WERE THE GOOD TIMES HOMEY.
MarleylMarl and Mantronix are the GODS of what we heard yesterday...today....the next day....the next day.....these 2 men are beyond pioneers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@stickypalmping Do you know where they would still sell the fuzzy-style Kangols? I live in Daytona Beach, FL area, and I can't find them in this area. Please, let me know, if you know, thank you.

this shit made me love black people... then i met a few UHG! what a disapointment. i thought they were going to be just a more colorfull version of white people. they ended up being steeling low life gangsters. i hope god wipes them out of exsistance
This is the real deal. They still play Kurtis Mantronik in clubs today. Waaayyy ahead of his time and totally innovative. Saw him live in San Francisco in 1986. Very diverse crowd at that gig. He rocked the house. Cover girls opened that club show.
when the record shop put this on for me he played it at 33 rpm it was fresh.when i brought them doubles home i played it at 45 like it was supposed to..me and my homies were like DAMN!!!! i played this at the club for the heads instead of erotic city.the bitches hated on me fuck em .hip hop till i die

Thanks for posting. This song brings back crazy memories. If anyone on this post has ever been in the Fun House in NYC with that thumping system knows what I'm talkin' about!
Just remembering going to the 40 Deuce with a thumping boombox with this crazy bass shaking the subway walls. Got with alot of mamis with this cut. Thanks MANTRONIX for the memories where ever you are.

No, these kids today R the ones that DON'T KNOW what REAL HIP HOP is..they're TOTALLY disconnected from the HISTORY of the music, as well as the "Culture".
I just shake my head at these dummy kids of today. They love to claim they're the "Hip-Hop" Generation, but can't tell U ANYTHING about it.
Message to U kids out there: If U were born after 1982, U ARE NOT apart of My Generation LOL!!
You're no more from the my generation, than I am from the Civil Rights Generation..
I agree with you 40000% blackadam06,these kids today don't know what real hiphop is. This ol'school shit is real hiphop. Rappers today don't even rap and the dj doesn't even scratch anymore which was a big part of hiphop. As a matter of fact it is quite embarrassing what our brothers and sisters are doing in the rap world.
Go to the vid drop by Pharcyde STBNY, and you'll see a fool arguin' with me about their being all kinds of good new rappers out their today and he brought up Biggie and Pac. I told him Biggie was alright but Pac talked to much street ghetto shit for me and 2 black brothers ended dead because of it. Rap is what you hear now,The MC rappin' with a lyrical format and the dj scratchin' and cuttin' in the background. Not all that "Look what I got-bling bling, n---a this,n---a that" shit.
You got that right AkitoJr. Ol'school forever. I seen a video by Birdman and Lil'Wayne and I was totally disgusted. All they talked about was what they got and their bling bling. I said to myself "that aint real hiphop, that's just flat out shit-talkin'. That's all rappers do today is talk shit.
1986 i had my little tape deck in my backpack and this what i listened to on my way to school..Man Badass song...Needle to the groove is one of the best.
this takes me back to the skating rink in PAterson .NJ the town I grew up in and how "stick up kids" would rob brothers for their, sheepskins, balmers and chains. 5 %percenters would battle all crews gangs etc..
I know exactly what you are sayin, people today do not realize where all the good beats and rhymes originated i grew up on this.mantronix beats will always outlast todays standards.don't forget about biz,big daddy kane, krs one, shan, eric b and rakim, shante, just ice,mc lyte, jungle brothers,i can go on but if you feel me you can continue my list,i grew up in Paterson also messin with the crazy brothers from 12th ave and broadway, never forget true hip hop people.
da first time i heard dis jam was in da gotham west nyc i never 4get it afterwards we use 2 listen 2 it all da times while break dancing in da parks x-men style!!!!!!!!! old schooling :*}
This was back when we put house speakers in the back of th '64 with power booster. This joint had me like in a trance the beat was so dope. Real hip hop, not the 12" version though but still got love for you putting this on. 1.Down..
Word ! Don't forget WBLS Mr. Magic and the juice crew... Dj Chuck Chill out on the one and two. Cooooool Dj Red alert kicking it live 85.. yesssss.. Yeah Kid those were the days for real...... Peace..
Whah? No gun shots? No talking about bitches? no talking about money?? Oh no!!!!! is this really some real ish?? true skills, voice and a dope beat?? whuh??? oh my GAWD!!
The dopest beat of all time. The whole tape was on hit. The 2nd generation as a whole doen't give the 1st generation enough respect. Peace to Sponnie Gee, Count coolout- Super rymes, crash crew, cold crush, Kool Herc, red alert, Bam, Flash & the 5, Too Short, Run DMC, etc...and yes cheetie 72 AMEN!

the 2000's will be remembered as the wack period of hip-hop (i.e. ringtone rap)
