I'll admit, I have several movies in both VHS and DVD format.

Mystery Men, First Strike, Mr. Nice Guy, Transformers (1986), and Tron, among others, I have in both VHS and DVD.

I'm proud to say that I own 3 copies of the first Ninja Turtle movie. VHS from when I was 9, DVD out of a bargain bin, and the dvd from the Ninja Turtles 4-pack DVD set. May not be Beta Max, but it's definitely a collection.

@Ryio5 Beta (short for Betamax) was a rival form of video cassette that lost miserably to VHS. Some people argue it has better quality, but it failed pretty hard. Not many people have Beta tapes and it seems fewer have working Beta players. It's basically what happened with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD...if Sony lost, because Beta was theirs.

I still prefer the laserdisc version of Star Wars Phantom Menance because it doesn't have all the extra scenes that the DVD version has. Also the Laserdisc version of The Matrix is not as green as the DVD. I agree with James, the little things like that are fun.

i even did it with some tv shows like batman of the futur (A.K.A batman begins)

on one episode he fights an elephant thats been possessed, i copied it then make it look i little more demented with, glowing red eyes and scars on its face.

i actually do a similar thing with dvds, i copy the real movie and add in any deleted scenes, also i sometimes make things a little better, like with king kong (colour version) i changed kong so he was black not brown, and made the fight scenes a little smoother, i have done this with many movies, and sometimes i add in my own scenes, once again in king kong i added myself in getting thrown of the building along with the other woman, and it actually looked like it fitted in with the movie.

If its an original 35mm Nitrate Print and its not deteriorated yet, you should be careful with it since Nitrate is very flammable and store it in a good cold room.

The movie I've owned the most versions of is Aliens. I used to own two different VHS tapes of it. One, the heavily edited Theatrical edition, and the Special edition with the cut scenes restored. I own the special edition on DVD, and my wife just ordered my the Alien Anthology on Blu-ray.

Speaking of format differences, a newer difference is between the DVD and Blu-ray version of NightWatch. In NightWatch, they have animated subtitles when the vampire is calling to this kid, but in the blu-ray, they're just normal subtitles. Small difference, but it was cool with the animated subs.
