Такива като F-16 и F-18 не ги признавам срещу MiG-29 щом американците направиха видео репорртаж в Греф Игнатиево Пловдив как 10 F-16 са се сражавали така наречения "Dog Fight" срещу един МиГ-29 и десетте са паднали не ми ги хвалете американците сами си казаха не ги изхвърляте!!!

first, Finland dont have F-16 or Gripens,they have F-18!! and there is nothing wrong beeing proud of your airforce,but you have to be realistic to,the Mig-29 is a smoking dinosaour,it,s expensive and OLD and doesen't have much of a scarefactor in the air today. Tjeckoslovakia has 14 Gripens along side with theres older Mig-29 and Gripens outperformed the old dino in every move and more or less played with it.....the Mig-29 is today a very old,clumsy and tired dino. get rid of it!!

The modifications we have on out MiGs are 20 years old and most former Eastern Block countries have them the same way except Ukraine and Russia. The MiG-29 needs to be modernized to OVT or upgraded to MiG-35 and it will perform admirably. The F-16 and F-18 were made around the same time the MiG-29 and they are good because of modernization and upgrades, not because they are NATO made. However, I do really like the Grippen and hope it will defend our skies some day.

yes the mig 29's in that picture are not Bulgarian, they are the Russian aerobatic team "Striji". Look them up, they put on a good show.

i think a decision will come sometime next year. As much as i would like to see Eurofighter or Super Hornet or Su-37, realistically we cannot afford those. The main competitors now are the Gripen and the F-16 block 52+. We will most likely choose the Gripen, like Hungary. It's a shame, cause a single engine lightweight fighter can only go so far.

well after taking a closer look at the gripen it seams like a pretty well aircraft. it hase a very good safty record and the new updated version will probably be much better. eurofither is to expensive and lacks stealth, so do the su37 and f16. gripen is the best choice I think for a aircraft with no stealth and because of its price.

@tzarbg123 I have read a bit more about gripen and most say it is much better then I thought before. its good plane with ability to land on highways. its very flexable and probably most important cheap. bulgaria must not buy old f16s, its so bad.. the airframe will just be problems all the time.. gripen uses american engines anyway, do they not want bg to buy gripen?

buying F-16s would be a big mistake for Bulgaria. The F-16 is the worst jet fighter and cannot compete with the Mig 29. Even Gripen is a much better choice. I would like to see F-18 super hornets or Su-37s defending the skies of Bulgaria. Those two would do the job very well.

yes, but that were just cheap export version of the mig29.. dont forget that. the US got their hands on some real mig29 after the coldwar from eastgermany. F16s struggled to keep up with them in testfights....

Not true,Americans bought MiG-29C from Moldova a few years ago,about 20 pieces,that the moldovans got from USSR.Germany sold it's MiG-29A's to Poland

MiG-29 was the best fighter of the world (said many US-Pilots) and i am sure that with a modernization this airplane good get again one of the best fighters of the world (for example the avionics of the EFA2000)

Xax even old MiG-29 ist still very good plane --- For our BBC we will take probably F-16 Grippen or why not Eurofighter (but only 10 cos they are very expensive) however our army is in modernisation so we have to be glad :D

I saw Mirage 2000 picture of BG plane.

Did you buye the Mirage 200, i knew you wanted the Mirage or the Saab.

I knew Sarkozy helping the Bulgarians out of Lebbanon would probbaly give France the order for these planes.

With all the respect for the Mirage it is probbaly the best of the 2, and one of the best choises BG could make.
