  • Whoah its that monster from LOST!

  • 02 brixton tonight, fuck yeah

  • @dimers1989 Have fun dude! I really want to see these guys!

  • I guess it's a good thing brent hinds is in a band, because I get the feeling that most employers would frown upon that awesome forehead tattoo.

  • amazing

  • Brent has always sounded good to me lol. Mastodon has definitely come a long way. They have continued to impress me over the years. I first heard them when i was like what close to ten years old. To this day I still claim them as my favorite band

  • my favourite song!

  • Oh My god his guitar. That silver and black, morphed stratacaster look. I need it. PLease, I know YouTube is known for its awesome community, but some one tell me what guitar that is so I can buy it.

  • @StraitJacketUnion He had it made custom by First Act, of all companies.

  • Eh I dunno people, saw them Live at the Filimore, Detrot. And there vocals for some of there new tracks we're almost as good as the album. Creature lives, Bedazzled fingernails, and Dry Bone Valley all were extremely well sung. Mastodon came a long way. From Brent Hinds sounding like a dying cat passing a kidney stone to now is a huge difference.

  • @JohnnyCage701 But TRUE Mastadon fans love that dying cat passing a kidney stone!

  • wasnt this in saints row 2

  • @tassimo1234

yea it was, that game helped my find this band and 3 inches of blood :D

  • Who cares if someone's voice is eq'd on CD? It doesn't mean that they can't sing people!

  • I heard this on Saints Row 2.

  • Everytime i click on one of mastodons songs it just gets better and better! xD

  • the advertisement underneath this video is for metallica.... click here for four extra tracks of "who gives a shit"

  • I wonder if DMT or ayahuasca inspired them to make this song and video

  • @esKpea

i think brent does drugs but idk

  • One of the most underrated bands ever! MASTODON RULES!!!

  • that black smoke also starred in "Lost" the tv series.

  • Honestly, as long as they can still sing, I don't mind them singing with added effects that they can't get with their voice.

  • This is the laziest song I've heard in a long ass time. At least since 95.

  • @slink132001 Like I can't seriously believe that anyone takes this serious but here it jolly ol St. Nick is, with $1000's of dollars to back it up.

  • @slink132001 you dont listen to alot of music do you

  • mastadon have to get bigger they deserve it.

  • god brents voice is so cool haha XD

  • mastodon especially with blood mountain wrote history...

  • In fact, all (give or take 2) musicians have their voices edited: eq, delays, reverbs, autotuning and a bazillion assorted fx ranging from virtually inaudible to completely distorting. Without the fx, the vocals would sound completely flat and out of place within the music.

To quote another commenter, who will remain nameless for the sake of privacy: MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    That actually feels pretty good.

  • @LuckyDeeIndustries not all do i know for a fact iron maiden dont une autotune they do it all live.

  • @MrGamerBazer I can confirm nor deny that, but that's not the point. Autotuning is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to editing, and you bet your ass Bruce's vocals are being EQed and fed through a delay/reverb for every song on every cd, be it a live or studio album. What I'm trying to say is there's nothing wrong with editing shounds, since not doing so would never enable a band/engineer/producer to achieve a sound worth playing to others.

  • @LuckyDeeIndustries I agree i think it does benefit albums alot by doin it by i think it can also be downgrading to those who are extremely independant on it.

  • Apparently, the forest isn't reserved for black metal videos only :D

  • Me and Death go jogging every Wednesday and Friday, no big deal.

  • okay. i must say this is my favorite mastodon song

  • Been a mastodon fan for a few weeks now, every song I listen to gets me more into them, this just blew my mind.

  • holy crap there bassets is god \m/(o.o)\m/

  • The cave part of this video was shot in a place called Ruby Falls Chattanooga Tn.The overlook is Stone Mountain.

  • It looks like they filmed this on Stone Mountain... Mastodon, WHY YOU NO FILM MUSIC VIDEOS ON THE REAL BLOOD MOUNTAIN 80 MILES NORTH OF ATL?

  • wtf they cut out Lion Slicer

  • Hey everybody, stop bitching and listen to the melting death eye mountain deer eating jaws of death wolfman puking snakes guitar solo

  • Warning. Do not consume acid while watching this video. Total mind blowing may occur

  • Fuck scissors, I run with death (not originally mine)

  • they totally did this video at ruby falls.

  • this song is 3:58 if it were two seconds more the world would explode

  • @Nicholosity The original is 4:19 long

  • What part of Wailing Caverns is this in?

  • @ohsomoreno I have no freaking idea how that made it to the top comment, but its an awesome reference indeed xD

  • @ohsomoreno haha Wailing Caverns is so boring xD

  • @ohsomoreno The part where before you q up you smoke some fuckin' shrooms

  • @ohsomoreno awesome as a top comment, most mastodon listeners are wow players? XD

  • @ohsomoreno

You sir, just made my day.

  • @ohsomoreno lolol fuck that place...

  • @ohsomoreno this was filmed at ruby falls in Chattanooga, TN

  • @jcoffman2000 WHOOO!!! Ruby Falls!!!!!

  • @ohsomoreno XD

  • @ohsomoreno I see what you did there.

  • @ohsomoreno That is actually Ruby Falls here in Chattanooga TN!!!!

  • @ohsomoreno Near the Murlocs.

  • 15 people are ogres and dwarves.

  • @Ramboy208 Thats alot of Gibson Explorers

  • Metal is not something regularly in my wheelhouse, but I do dabble. I gotta say MASTODON is an act I can get behind. Great on all fronts. Talented.

  • Colony of the Slippermen

  • @jchang33 Metal fans all over the world you say? Most legitimate metal fans dislike the Big 4, etc etc. Why? Because overall, their music is atrocious. Again, being popular does NOT mean that a band is necessarily good. But of course, that doesn't mean that EVERY band that's popular is terrible. Which seems to be the confusion you seem to carry and refuse to acknowledge.

If Mastodon was as popular as Slipknot, they'd still be great, because they actually express talent and try something new.

  • youtube fights! the winner gets a 30 dollar hooker purchased by youtube!

  • @DWIGHT123 I AM TOTALLY IN!

  • @jchang33 I'd also like to point out that once again, you completely avoid the topic at hand, again. Even though I just mentioned it last time I responded. You have no argument other than attempted insults that hold no ground at all this current response of yours is proof in itself, witch is actually pretty sad. I'm sorry you have to go through life the way you do. I can't imagine how hard it must be. Chin up, champ.

  • @jchang33 I not once said "what I really meant to say was". Nothing of that ilk was remotely stated by me. This is once again you making things up into your own understandings so you can get an "edge". It seems to be your shtick, as you clearly can't accept or acknowledge rather straight forward points/comments, thus you absolutely have to toss them around to your own definitions. Hence my explanations. So don't give yourself too much credit, bucko.

  • @jchang33 The fact that you still can't argue my points on the original topic at hand (the bands and junk), and have to leeway into same make-believe debate where only your words are "right" is enough proof on the matter that clearly you can't argue, debate, or that you hold any real merit to anything you're attempting to pass across.

Suffice it to say. You've been grasping at straws for a while now. Keep beating your chest, big boy. Someone might give you the attention you crave... some day.

  • @jchang33 ...in an attempt to force yourself in the right.

If this was an actual debate, you wouldn't have won a thing as you've yet to actually conjure any single points to anything at hand. Fallacious assumption doesn't exactly count as validity.

This whole time you've been sitting there essentially saying "What you say isn't true because I say it's not, thus you're an idiot and everything I say is right. So haha in your face".

    What a tactic!

  • @jchang33 The only reason I explain myself is not to further my point, but to point out how absolutely benign and idiotic you're being in your blatant attempts to re-word and flip flop my sentences/meanings around. So do not try to pass that off as "durr people dont get wut u say so u had to explain it haha u dun no wut u talkin bout".

And of course I'm going to explain myself if it means showing that the other person is wrong. Looks to me like you're simply writing up rules as you go along...

  • @jchang33 It's funny how you claim to "help" me with my argument, yet there's no "help" being done, not even in the passive aggressive mocking manor.

It's outstanding how people like yourself are able to function under the assumption that they're not completely dumbfounded with life. I'd like to know how you get by day to day, to be honest.

  • @jchang33 Did I not just explain this to you? "Popular =/= Good" does NOT mean that EVERYTHING popular is instantly crap. That's the assumption you made up in order to try and corner me; which clearly isn't working. So yes, you are misconstruing the words, blatantly so.

If my argument is "weak", it's solely due to the fact that you're no longer giving anything worth while to rebut in terms of the topic at hand; which sadly you haven't been. Instead you're trying to insult me with ridiculousness

  • @jchang33 Because once they make their next album, those same fans will be jumping for joy over this current stuff and not be as excited for the new-new stuff. That's how it is. People are always more stoked to heard what they already know, until they can actually get acquainted with said new stuff.

But sadly, there you go again, putting words in my mouth that you gathered from something vaguely similar. Keep up the good work. Maybe one day you'll be able to get on that debate team, maybe.

  • @jchang33 Actually. That's the logic you made up on my behalf. Those words never came from me. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's instantly bad; but on the flip scale, just because it IS popular, doesn't mean it's absolutely amazing. Don't try and misconstrue my words for your own benefit. This isn't Grade School.

It's not relevant though. Siting a quote that says fans were more excited for the old stuff as opposed to new is pointless. Why?

  • Why the fuck are Troy's vocals edited out? They added so much power to the song. Quite a lame attempt to make it more "accessible" really...

  • Comment removed

  • This edit is bullshit.

  • If you don't like the new stuff @jchang33 fuck off then.

Found Mastodon yesterday and I love this! Great band, glad I found these.

  • @Whitehaven52 funny you found them yesterday, the had a new album come out yesterday.

  • @jchang33 Neat story. Also completely useless to anything that has been said here. I don't care if you've been listening to metal for 3 years, or 3 decades, that doesn't mean a single thing, so why try to mention it as if you deserve some sort of "cred"?

The quote also proves nothing. Because as you can clearly notice from their new album, they're STILL progressing their sounds and don't sound anything like 'March of the Fire Ants' and the like.

Ugh. Everything youre saying holds no relevance

  • @jchang33 Right, because this comment proves anything how? They set standards for being popular. Popular =/= good. Otherwise Slipknot would be one of the best "metal" bands in existence.

That said. Where the hell do you get a stupid assumption like that from?

"Duur hurr! He doesn't like the Big 4 so he must listen to Disturbed lololol!"

What are you, in grade 7?

  • 15 deaf people are trolling youtube

  • @pkane22 1 idiot is trying desperately to get likes

  • Hopefully we`ll meet In Finland soon!!!!!!!!!!

  • F***in great! Agression, but not violent music! Exteme Agression without blood!

  • FUUUUUCK it REALLY bothers me that they shortened the song

    ARGHHHHHH

  • this forest they're singing about...it's Fangorn right? xD Mastodon \m/

  • Josh Homme shoulda been in this video!!!!!!!! killer song

  • @jchang33 Slayer (and the rest of the "Big 4", and Pantera) are all fucking laughable. That's a pathetic comparison if I've ever heard one.

  • @jchang33

If a band doesn't evolve they just keep releasing the same album. See: AC/DC.

    Not that I dislike AC/DC.

  • @LittleJackHorror If it ain't broke...Why frickin' Fix it? XD

  • @MrPurpleguitar That rule doesn't apply to music, or really anything that stays around longer than a couple of years. AC/DC was never a good band. They were catchy as hell, but that's where it ended. The talent of the musicians, singers, and song writing have always been bad. But they keep riding the cock of "Let's make simple catchy music, and rake in sick amounts of cash", and there you go.

You can listen to every AC/DC album and not be able to differentiate them at all.

  • @MrPurpleguitar Change is a must if a band wants to keep their fans interested and pleased. Music is a progression in and of itself. Why would you want to listen to 10 albums of the exact same thing over and over? You know how when you say the same word over and over again, and it begins to lose its meaning and sound fake? That's how it is with music.

If anything. The real fans are the people who can accept and understand the change of a band, especially if the change isn't a bad one.

  • @Cessate This is the very thing that is killing Meshuggah. lack of progression and innovation within their own music. The last time I heard anything truly dynamic from them was "I". "Catch 33" had a few moments, I understand that it was simply another version of I, just a tad bit shorter and with less progression it still greatly disappointed. Mastodon is one of few bands, like Dillinger, Deftones, and to certain extents Hella, who never fail to impress me with their innovation.

  • @justWidle Agreed. For a band as outstanding as they are, they tend to play it safe and stick with what they know, and don't change a single thing. Where they're still great, I can only bring myself to listen to a few songs at a time now a days without thinking it's all just a single 20 minutes tune.

That's why I enjoy a lot of Sludge, Stoner Rock, and Prog. You listen to a band like Kylesa, Jucifer, Porcupine Tree, or Kyuss; and it's consistently different song to song, album to album.

  • @Cessate I dont know how you can say this, every album sounds different from the last one and no 2 songs of theirs sound the same. They may have the same feel as other songs on the album but that is because they do concept albums. They have never played the same thing more than once, clearly you have not been a mastodon fan from the start, you can hear them evolve sound and change style. Everything they do is uniquely different.

  • @44Schecter I have NO idea what you're talking about as you fail to specify anything. What band are you referring to? Meshuggah? If so, then I can't agree with that as I am a fan of theirs, but their albums have all been blending together lately. I don't want more of the same, I want something different each time. Their "evolving" is so subtle that it really doesn't mean anything.

  • @44Schecter Clearly, you haven't been a Mastodon fan for very long because when Crack the Skye came out, they first said that the entire album was about a boy that traveled to the spirit world and asked the spirits to help him because he was not dead, then the boy was put into the body of Rasputin, the caretaker of the Czar's son. Now, if that doesn't sound like a concept album, I don't know what does.

  • For insane riffs, alternating screaming/singing vocals and immense atmospheres, I recommend looking up 'Delusion Twin'. You'll dig it, I promise

  • This shit is erectifying!!!

  • @jchang33 Well in my opinion their change was damn good.

  • @jchang33 They didn't abandon their fans. Stop being closeminded and understand the idea of change and variety in music. I like Metallica and Mastodon not because they're good at one style but MANY!

  • Oblivion is the best song of Mastodon !!

  • This is the only Mastodon song I dislike. All the others are amazing. And they chose this one to give the third-coolest video (behind Divinations and Oblivion, in front of Curl of the Burl) and put it on Rock Band. :(

  • Hijos de puta! como me podeis gustar tanto cabroneeeeess!!!!!!

  • I don't really care for metal ( I'm more of a Punk/Indie Rock fan) but I dig these guys. I'm not sure why, probably because their songs don't start to bore me half way through.

  • acid-vision :'D gotta love it

  • This music video reminds me of the music video for "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains

  • @TheYtml as well as the Brother music video

  • Mother-fucking Lion Slicer!

Best acid trip i've ever been on and I owe it all to Mastodon!

  • I've seen that water fall at 0:08 in person -- Ruby Falls

  • Mastodon fans, check out this prog band from Atlanta.

    watch?v=EZpdbpILSfA

  • So, this edit (i.e. cutting out "hunt for ogres and dwarves," etc.): WTF?

  • I always thought that the album cover was the birchmen. :S

  • if i grow a BEARD WILL IT MAKE ME AS GOOD AS MASTADON??

  • @MegaKlaxons NO, IT WON'T

  • @TheChriscoli FUCK

  • Where the fuck is my Lion Slicer!?

  • 3:18 - 3:19 illuminati! LOL

  • All bow down to Mastodon's bearded glory. The best metal band since the 80's.

  • What other band can make a song about tree people SO FUCKIN METAL?

  • Just realised they've edited out Troy's " Hunt For Ogres and Dwarves - Lion Slicer "

  • @KotowTV Yeah I dont understand why they edited that part out, it makes the song.

  • i hate music videos where they show the band pretending to play their own music. but mastodon is awesome so who cares

  • @TheInfiniteTurtle bands who do that actually do play, but don't use the recording from when they played for the video (they use the actual studio recording)

  • I showed this band to my dog and he grew a beard. yes that is possible with mastodon anything is possible!

  • GOD DAMN. CANT FUCK WITH THESE GUYS.

  • Mastodon kicks so much ass that my smiley face grew a beard :)}

    MASTODON FTW!!!!

  • @kcolston20

This is my favourite comment that I have read all day.

    :)}

  • One of my all time favorite Mastodon songs and a fucking cool video to go along with it! They will always be on the top of my favorite bands list.

  • 0:42 Sounds like "Wipe my tits" lol

  • @KrE3Ed sounds more like "wild fake tits" lol

  • just started listening to mastodon. torrented blood mountain because i dont want to stop listening as i go to the store and buy the hard copies. theyre that goddamn good.

  • It's fucking trippy watching Josh Homme's voice come out of Troy's mouth in this video.

  • now a rockband drum would say................THEM BLUE NOTES CAN SUCK MA DICK MAYNE!!!

  • awesome cant wait for the hunter!

  • LoL. Super poopy band

  • i fuk 2 ths song i can listen 2 it allday they r great on a dmt trip

  • Best style is Mastodon's style ! These guys are my gods !

  • (|| O.O ||).

  • 1:33 acid trip.. wtf...?

  • This is what you get when you mix acid with alcohol.

    And I fucking like it!

  • @pexotron Lol you cant mix the two bro. Acid nullifies the effects of alcohol.

  • this isnt the full version..they cut out the epic vocal parts

  • Words can't describe the awesomeness of this band.

  • Did they film the band parts in Ruby falls?

  • @IRONBADtheWARRIOR Yes, they did indeed.

  • They filmed the bands parts UNDERGROUND.

  • Mastodon you are awesome and deserve to be called Gods of Rock dont change my opinioon

  • the second half of this song is a million times better than the first half

  • @RespectProcess agreed

  • @RespectProcess LION SLICERRR

  • Dear Mastodon's Bill Kelliher and Brent Hind

You two are fuckawesome guitarists. But please, for the love of the Elder Gods, learn how to toss pics into the crowd!

You should have seen the fanrage that was going on next to me when those little, insignificant pieces of plastic landed a good 60 Centimeters in front of the people, but they couldn't reach them because of the barriers that held them back. And when the security guy picked it up and carried away instead of passing it on xD

  • @2ndCthulhu HAHA if i was the security guard i would have did the same thing, except while waving it around and laughing and pointing at all the fans.

  • @2ndCthulhu the security guard wanted it for himself duh

  • @MassiveMusicCritic

Of course he did, duh. Who wouldn't? But that doesn't make Bill's and Brent's inability to pass their pics to their _actual_ fans any less apparent :X

  • @2ndCthulhu that security guy had his priorities in order

  • watching this video reminds me of being on shrooms

  • mastodon is awsome go back on tour

  • why is LOST'S black smoke monster in this? because mastodon said so!!

  • recomended listening

  • Brann Dailor looks a lot like Josh Homme from Queens of the stone age.

  • @07plokoon It is Josh Homme wiki quote "Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme contributed vocals for the song "Colony of Birchmen.""
