  • pretty bird

  • 1 of the most iconic aircraft ever to be built

  • It´s beautiful, isn't it?

  • Wish I was a German.........

  • Yes the Germans were the best. Still are.

  • It was not "Invisible" to radar bt it could get 5 miles closer to the brittish coast without being spotted.

  • FAke propaganda.. germans never had stealth planes.. they never experimented with anything close. First that really began to explore stealth planes were the russians in 1962 and later americans designed the F117 plane with their discoveries. Its on youtube.. The hunt for stealth

  • @Vann7 They had prototypes and did successful runs. They just didn't have enough time to put them into action.

  • @Vann7 americans and russians stole germans projects, americans never was close to something like this

  • It was NEVER EVER designed to be stealth. It shape was designed for speed and speed alone...no fuselage meant less drag...a wing full of fuel for range...made of wood due to lack of metals...and jets for speed.

  • @andgate2000 It was designed as stealth, the prototypes were made of wood, but the actual project was to be made of metal - And with engines

  • @andgate2000 True, the stealth characteristics were true coincidence.

  • I feel like I'm flying

  • nothing stealth about it.. radar bounce off flat and 90degree angfle surface's. Oh look.. a big flat flying wing.. whoops.. LOL, then agaion the radar was so juvinile back then you could mistake one squigly line for another.. :-o

no there was no "dots" on radar back then lol

  • @Me102288 Ya I was thinking the same thing haha.

Radar sucked ass back then. It probably still picked it up but not as big or sticking out like a sore thumb. Barely picked it up? Not sure...

  • @DarkPrinceNH5570 radar back then was so primitive then, stealth would be more like. a tiny aircraft.. much like the smaller it is, the harder it is to see..

Stealth means the aircraft does not bounce radar back to the station.. this is why the F117 Night Hawk looks the way it does.

there are no 90 or 45 degree angles,.. = no matter where radar hits it, it will be deflected away.. not right back to the station...

best way I can descibe it is sonar.. but in the air..

  • Ah!....those Horten brothers!

  • german is the best

  • So, right now, you're driving a ho?

  • Roswell is now explained.

  • it wouldnt suprise me if this was the germany's most famous experiment aircraft

  • This is my favorite experimental plane of all time!

  • My understanding is that the actual shape, not by intention of the designers but through chance, made it slightly stealth like. Visible on radar, but with a distorted image.

  • wow germans allready invented stealth fighter

  • It was faster than the B-2 :-)

  • @lucius1976 b2 stealth bomber? is subsonic... so was everything else before the Bell X1

Chuck Yeager was the first man to break the sound barrier.. the Jet Me262 wasnt even super sonic.and given how primitive th radar was then, a sopwith camel was stealth.. because cloth ansorbed radar.. :-\

  • "stealth" ? OMG... ignorance

  • This was not a stealth design, it was the end product of a long series of tailess gliders built by the brilliant Horten brothers, and radar-evasion was never a design criteria. If it had a small radar profile this was simply due to its size and the shortage of aluminium in Germany at the time. To achieve a low radar profile a designer uses {multiple} flat, not curved, surfaces, as with the recent American stealth designs.

  • @AlfredTupper it had low radar profile and was fast enough to be stealth to the primitif radars of ww2...

  • @HubertWolfen BUT it was NOT desinget to be a stelth, it "just happed", and when germans realiced it, they made a wood-coal mixture on the surface, to make it more invisible...

  • @anonymFin

3 examples of the Horten IX/Gotha Go229 was actually made, 1 was an unpowered glider, the 2nd was a flying prototype which flew 3 times before being completely destroyed in a crash (which also killed the pilot) and a 3rd uncompleted prototype which went to the USA.

They had no time to prove or develop it at all, far less calibrate & refine stealth or develop tactics for its use, besides they had no fuel to fly anything much by spring 1945.

  • @AlfredTupper 100% agree! The US chanels are always making a shocking news, when something regular happends...

  • It was stealth it's radar cross section was 30% of it's actual size and it was the first ever to utilise stealth technology so there would be some bugs and there was an even bigger version which could fly from Germany to America in order to deliver an atomic bomb and you can not get it at the end of the war only 1or 2 had been made and one of them crashed

  • NOT stealth... although the blended body, wood frame and tar embedded skin did make it harder to see... that was not the point.

  • maybe this plane will carry their nuclear weapon to destroy the russia... german technology was the best among best of all the technology in all nation

  • i.e. What Kenneth Arnold saw..

  • Where can i get the plane ?
