I agree wholeheartedly with your words of wisdom. I've realized for a while that I have become bogged down with too much information. I also enjoy trying different writing software and have found that I have become distracted in this area as well. I do like many of the various offerings but am now at the point where I'm going to choose my tools and workflow and be done with it.

I agree..and good advice..I just have one question.when you talk about writers psyching themselves out with too much information, are you referring to advice or are you also talking about writers trying to learn about the craft? Because I feel that yes there are many ways to write a novel BUT it is also essential for new writers to become familliar with the craft of writing and especially do some research on pillars of fiction such as plot, characterization, setting theme etc and THEN innovate

Shakespear made up his own words I even find it a absolute must I make up words when I write myself. Latest word I manage to creat was Ryhthmatic. Though there is an exact science to making up new words but whats the fun in that.

thank you so much. im really scared to start writing but the end advice really helped  "even if you only write a few words a day". i always thought if you want to be a writer you had to be writing 24/7, or else you didn't want it. i think i only want to write for my own enjoyment, i'd feel to pressured to write, if it was a career.
