When I first heard this song, it ended at about 2:08. And I gotta say, it was better without the rest. Maybe I'm trying too hard to be independent, but I was disappointed when I found out -his substitute- won. I thought this song was about standing on your own two feet and carrying yourself to victory despite the odds. It isn't. Religion aside, that's sort of like finding your favorite sports hero took credit for a victory that someone else scored the winning point on. Don't really like it.

Christianity at its core is based on the fact that no matter what you hope to accomplish, you'll never reach perfection in the race that requires it. This song kind of just explains that view. In their eyes surrender to Jesus is the only way to win the race.
