When I saw this I was blown away because no one in CA really knows a lot about my dog when they see her. They always think she is a cross of something. They are July Hound, Grey Hound and Mexican Red Wolf, which is not a wolf at all but a coyote from MX. Great Family dogs, great watch dog and super hunters. They are super smart and can learn many jobs.
While I give the Lacy all due credit vis-a-vis its abilities, I'm astounded by the comment Mr. Brooks made about the Lab. "They have no prey drive" and "they don't know how to catch anything"? Is he for real? When I lived on a farm, wild dog packs were frequent trouble. Get any dog hungry enough and you'll meet its prey drive!
We just got a Blue Lacy from a breeder in Oklahoma (I am in North Texas) about two weeks ago. He's a three month pup, and is probably one of the best behaved puppies I've ever had. He's great with my kids (2 and 6)!
Yes, they have drive, but any sort of regular exercise keeps them happy. Running around the yard with the kids, walks, tug of war, it's all very enjoyable, and like any dog, regular activity keeps them very content.
I started watching this show quite awhile ago, I love the interesting prospectives, they really do give me a unique insight. Though I admit i'm more into the evolution of the canine species they supply you with in few parts of the show, so thanks for the upload. :)

@BoyScout1960 I think he is refering to the average house dog/ lab that is raised in suburbia as
opposed to a working ranch dog that uses their skills/breeding a lot. Most yard dogs wouldn't make it
on their own very long.

dogs have so much better sense of smell than humans. I am jealous.

We have a Blue Lacy. Great dogs. We actually got her from Mr. Brooks, the gentleman interviewed on this video.
