I can kind of understand why they cut this - it seemed a bit awkward, for a start - but I really do like this scene. Especially good is the way that Arthur doesn't scorn Merlin for (a) his [supposed] fear and (b) his kind of wise remark. Nice to see him appreciate Merlin more.

lol Great line from Arthur and then they're having a moment while the band of merry men stands behind them looking tough. And is it me or does Gwaine stand out a lot? I feel like he's the only one not in armor. Nope. Elyan isnt either, but Gwaine's in the forefront and more noticeable. -shrug- whatever.

I love up to 0:30 and I think they somehow should have kept it in the ep, and I loooove Bradley's expression when he says, "almost like a friend," but I don't like how it backtracks on all of the development, for lack of a better word, of the friendship between them. So I guess I can see why they cut it, but also kind of wish they hadn't.

Why does Arthur still treat him as a servant and not as a friend?

He loves Gwen, who's a servant, he's just knighted Lancelot, Gwaine, Elyan and Percieval who had the same social status as Merlin and were not of noble blood (apart from Gwaine, but he didn't know that)

Is it because he knows Merlin is actually his true best friend and he finds it hard to admit this...or...? It just puzzles me! Love their friendly banter but it's frustrating! Though I did like Merlin's line about a new age...

What bothers me with this is that it looked like it just dawned on Arthur (inwardly/outwardly acknowledging) that Merlin is a friend, a buddy, when it's been three years and he should have already realized it fully, even if Merlin’s a servant. Maybe Arthur *is* just dim. Glad it's deleted.
