probably right... just a shame tho.... even if they were to just drag it into a bay somewhere.... sand blast it... clean it up.... make it into an attraction at the Forks.... love to see the old girl on Display down there... maybe free up a couple of million from the Human Rights museum and get her on display... would be a neat little restaurant.... even if she couldn't float
...or sink it in West Hawk lake for Diving on.... that would be an attraction....
Went to Selkirk today and took a few pics/video of it rotting away, The thing is a waste now and may as well be torn apart and gone away with. The slough looks better then this thing now.
i thought she was sold and hauled somewhere out east... i guess that was just a rumor.... i was shocked to find out she's still here.... and rotting away like that.... love to fix her up and get her in back in service... or in winnipeg ... any one want to help me buy her?
drd1668.... I don't think it's even worth getting fixed up, this thing is too far gone, besides who knows what the inside of this thing looks like, probably infested by critters. A huge waste of a once great ship.
A little late, but any idea what the selling price was and its shape. It was still floating so that is a good sign. I did not hear anything that it was for sale until it was on the news. Where would you find future boats/ships for sale?
The ship was or still is owned by Dr. Joe Slogan of Selkirk. He had planned to get VLT's on board to make it a dinner/ casino type cruiser but it never happened. Shame to see her rust away.
I was her Engineer-in-Charge from May to August 1984 and had worked as engineer in relief on her in the fall of 1981 when she was still on the lake. I love that sweet little tub. She doesn't deserve what happened to her. Would it were otherwise!
Wow, I sure never saw a busty lady made out of what looks like white chocolate! Or platters of what looks like boiled kubasa. They must've only done that for the fancy people.
any idea what the tonnage is.... be a challenge to get it out to the lake.... great diving attraction

@raldeify Any boat will float untill the hull gives out. It will be dismantled soon. Rightfully so because it needs a proper funeral.

What a shame to see her rusting away in the 'Slough'!
We should do a feasibility study to convert the Lord Selkirk into a dual purpose ice breaker and put her back in service as a cruise ship in summer.

A friend of mine worked on it too...he has great stories. What a shame to see it rusting away in Selkirk now.
The ad only mentions river cruises....I wonder if it had stopped sailing up into the lake by 1986?
