@loonzoldick its a long story apparently,,,This change occurred in the early 90's due to the artists who make the promotional posters, vhs covers, etc. They wanted to advertise Cinderella in her iconic ballgown surrounded by streams of sparkly magic (rather than rags)...however in the original silver color, the dress and sparkles blended into one another. So these artists added the darker blue tint to the dress in order to add contrast. It has remained so ever since.

@SchwarzundWeis It was actually even made in 1948 and 1949. Bibbiddi-Bobbidi-Boo was copyrighted in 1949. Cinderella was released 1.5 months after the 1940s ended, so it was finished by Christmas 1949. I use to think that too when I watched it back in the mid-90s because of the preview on Lion King's VHS.
