The central character was a Leveller and would have regarding the Irish and Catholics as AntiChrist.

A good and atmospheric track that does go with the video in mood but a slightly strange chioce?

I missed it when it first came out on TV, but i have the DVD now, and it's well worth a watch if you get the chance. It's one of those tale's which you can debate on for ages afterwards.

@Elvinauk I found the PERFECT metaphor for his voice: a gun wrapped in velvet and pressed against your ear. He has a SUPERB voice and I could listen to him speak all day... He was... not the star, but he was the STRONGEST character here, I think, and EVERYONE did a FANTASTIC job, I was SO impressed it's SO good...

She is married to him - before she went to The Diggers, Sexby offered her a marriage of convenience, no strings attached (marriage w/o benefits - see the 4:25 spot). It took her a good long while (and much suffering) before she appreciated and loved Sexby....

I wasn't a great John Simm fan, but as Edward Sexby he blew my socks off! What is it about his character that does it? Hes strong, and passionate, but tender and loves his Angelica with all his soul....how yummie is that?!

Wow, love this, beautifully put together. The Devil's Whore is the best thing on TV for years, the sets, costumes, lighting etc. and John Simm is mesmerizing as Edward Sexby who is obviously (although not to Angelica, yet..!) the most intensely sexy bloke in it - his eyes are incredible... hope he gets lots more interesting roles on the back of this.
