  • Great! But,......

Can you show us when and where this fits in a 12 bar progression?

  • when i watched it it was cool but you dint explain or zoom in propley!but good show:)

  • How did he not zoom or explain properly it was viewed plain as day and explained directly to each note?

  • If you need it any closer or any clearer than what was explained from 3:13 to 6:13, then you need to pick another instrument to play.

  • Just enlarge the video by clicking on the square next to the volume control - it will zoom right in and should help you. Peace, Marty HIll

    rock on!

    David T

  • Um... its a mix, a good guitar and make a shitty amp sound good, and vice versa, and you could have a awesome guitar and an awesome amp and it can still sound crappy, some equipment no matter how good mixes good. its an art and a lifetime search there is no "Perfect guitar" "perfect amp" or "perfect amp/guitar combo"

  • first act owns

  • thanks bro you alway help me out.keep it commin

  • hey great tutorial man! i learned a lot and i enjoyed it

  • This is an excellent series of "how to play guitar"...very informative and specific details in the close up view. Great job from those instructors. You guys rocks and Thanks!

  • naw silver tone owns all, the master of twang.

  • very santana-ish

  • yeah!! I was thinking the same... but stills sounds good though...

  • of course they should

  • its just my opinion, it good everybody is the same :) take care

  • this is a quite ridiculous statement

fenders are amazing for blues lol

another amazing video. great explinations and theory

  • idiot fender owns blues.

  • Yeah give me 5 explanation why they good for blues =)

  • Your dead wrong, its Gibson that owns the blues.

  • BB king and chuck berry both used Gibsons and were big time founders of modern blues. But, Stevie Ray, Hendrix, clapton, etc etc uses Fender...Neither one owns blues. It depends on what tone you want. I prefer the Fender-type blues sound, but I play an Epiphone...

  • Finally someone makes sense. Strats and Les Pauls can both be great and both be dreadful, and they're certainly both capable of great blues tone. Of course Telecasters, ES-335s, Casinos, hell even my old Ibanez Roadstars can hang with the best of them blues-wise. The fact is that "blues" is far too broad a term to be dominated by any one guitar. No one's even mentioned an acoustic yet; robert Johnson never saw a Strat or a Les Paul. Bickering about which brand is better is lame as hell.

  • Get your facts right:

Buddy Guy plays a Strat, and is widely regarded as one of the best of all time, along with B.B King, John Lee Hooker, etc.

SRV, imho was the biggest 'modern' blues star to emerge from the Eighties, which also features heavyweights such as Robben Ford, Robert Cray and Walter Trout. He may not have owned it, but certainly lived it.

Clapton played a Gibson SG as his main guitar (e.g. in Cream) way before he picked up the Strat in the 70s.

  • I'm not an awesome blues player. But I know for sure what translates into your playing doesn't depend as much on your guitar as much as your own ability and soul.

  • But once Eric Clapton got a strat he never looked back.

  • You guys are all wrong. Its Jay Turser knock offs that own the blues. Get with the times.

  • Les Paul anyone?

  • It All depends On what kinda of music you like. A Strat And Les Paul Cant Be Compared Because They Are So Different. I own A American Strat And Have Used A Gibson LP. There Both Great guitars

  • In the sense of the blues I think Fender owns just about anything.

  • depends the kinda blues u play cause i like to rock a gretsch when i playing slower blues but a strat for the fast blues but i stay away from les pauls cause i dont find the standard pickups come with the right tone for bluesy stuff

  • Yeah, I agree. The guy playing here styles his playing to Strat. The Les Paul and Fender both sound great.

  • you just cant afford a propper Gibson thats why you whine

  • A Standard Les Paul would get blown away by an American Standard Strat when talking about the blues. And this is a very silly thing to argue because it's all opion.

  • rubbish...a guitar is just a plank of wood with some wires...

the real sound is in the amps and pedals...you can process the sound with the right gear to any kind you like no matter what guitar you play

  • That's about half true.

  • rubbish an amp is just a box with some wires... the real sound is in the guitarI... I've tryed many different guitars and no matter what you plug a cheap Fist act guitar into, it always sounds like crap, but even the cheapest mini-amps can carry the smooth tone of the Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster or if you prefer the heavy tone of the Gibson Les Paul or SG!

It all adds up in the end but I like the pure tone of a well made guitar!

  • thats just not true

the sound is in the amp...the amp and the pedals are what sculpts the sound...the guitar just emits a signal thats then shaped by the amp and pedals...if it were any other way you wouldnt need sound techs and studio equipment

even U2 guitarist Edge said: "this is just a piece of wood, the real sound happens over here" *pointing to his cabinet of amps and processing modules

  • PS:

i've played with people who had +1000$ Jacksons and Scheckters (however thats spelled) and played them through crappy 50W amps and it sounded as if someone was pealing a cat

  • peeling*

  • No it dont, gibson does

  • I don't think that Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan and SRV sound good when playing blues on a Fender and there is this small time guy named Buddy Guy who uses a cool Fender he can play pretty dencent :)

  • I meant to saw I do think that (statement above insert here)

  • great licks bro!!

  • Great job what a guy! Free lessons like this are very helpful. Thanks Dave

  • i started playing guitar about a year ago and you really help me out with a lot of stuff thanks

  • I found these lessons a little more advanced than usual, which is a great thing IMO. Could you do some more?

  • yeah..! and i also dig that strat the matching head stock

    how much???ya think

  • yep..that guitar there hes got looks sweeet.

  • Stratocaster :P

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan uses the Strat. What's your point?

  • there isnt anything wrong with it, in fact i love all fenders in general.

  • its alternative its more like solos

  • I think somtimes david forgets hes making a video and keeps playing haha he gets so into it

  • Blues rules.

  • Nice =0. I'm a long time viewer, first time commenter. I like your videos. =)

  • Lovely, thank you.

  • how did you get that head stock? is it just a cut out of a pick guard? it looks bad ass
