Fender fucked him over on a deal hence why he changed to Gibson. Also I think anyone who plays blues on a Strat is going to "feel" some SRV in there somewhere and that's going to come out. I actually like Philip Sayce better at playing this type of stuff.
Hey guys sorry to bug you all, but i get no video views and I'm an up and coming 17 year old blues/ jazz guitarist from San Diego and need more video views and comments, so please take 15 minutes out of your day to help me out! let me know what you think! thanks guys
I'm on crack? I have no imagination? You guys are in love with this because it's Joe Bonamassa and nothing more. Most of the licks he's using are a direct rip-off of SRV and every other blues guy alive or dead. Joe's an amazing guitarist, no doubt. But this is shallow at best and he's produced far better then this. Grow a spine and quit your crabbin'...it's just an opinion..
He might as well be playin' children's music. No imagination...one of the worst blues tunes I've ever heard and certainly the worst tune I've ever heard him do...
guy can play that guitar,he's got a great vocabulary,(chops and licks) so what's not to like? You can choose to compare him to your guitar god and of course ,will find him a little less so why bother? guys good+ end of story.SSSSSSSH!! Let's listen...............
I love when Joe played Strat's. Even one as butt ugly as the one he is playing. I can only assume, he stopped playing Strats because of the endless comments and criticisms that he sounded to much like Eric Johnson who he admits greatly influenced his style and approach. Love the tone and playability of Les Paul's and Strats, but I understand why it seems to me the last four CD's he has done as a solo artist and with Black Country Communion he mainly plays LP's...
@bluesinduluth Apparently the reason Joe switched to Gibson is because Joe asked Fender to build him a signature guitar and they refused. Gibson were only too happy to oblige. More fool Fender.
@westonblues -Wow...hard to fathom why Fender would refuse to build JB a signature model. Whast??...Are you kidding me Fender?? Rarely do you see someone who keeps growing in ability, and crafting songs.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
pick the string, volume knob 0. While the string swings, turn volume knob with your little finger on. Now you have a violine sound. You have to do that fast, when you play fast, before every note, you have to turn down to 0.
Thanks Jimmie X for uploading these vids, I just got turned on recently to Joe and man now I am trying to find everything I can by this amazing artist!
THE GREAT REVIVAL OF "REAL" MUSIC AND MUSICIANSHIP HAS BEGUN---IT BEGINS AND ENDS HERE!!! AWESOME & AMAZING! THE GREAT AMALGAM OF STEVIE RAY, STEVE VIE, ERIC JOHNSON, CLAPTON, SATRIANI, BUDDY GUY AND HENDRIX--------FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!
All honor to the men and women who gave us the blues. The fact is most played some cords and fat fingered some runs but I think a lot of those old guys where more interested in whisky and women than practicing. Then came the likes of Albert The King and BB King . True masters. But to say as someone did that Joe's music is plastic and requires no work is obviously wrong. You don't play like that practicing once a week. Clapton had a reputation at one point for being boring because all he did was
Yes, Lightnin' Hopkins was pure and was very talented...but don't delude yourself. If there were Strats and Marshalls around in the 30's and 40s (and if he could have accessed them), there is NO WAY he would have recorded all that music using his just voice and an often-out-of-tune acoustic.
If you can't feel the passion in this song you're dead from the neck up. I'm tired of hearing about who has soul and who doesn't. A bit of reverse racism there to think one race has a lock on "soul". If you like old twangy guitars and bad recordings so be it. But the build in this song and the beautiful guitar work gives me chills. I've been listening to blues since the early 50s and I'll take today's blues hands down.
don't you all find this electric blues played by these guitar wizards a little bit boring or at least with nothing new to say ? Where' the soul, the groove, the passion ?

@65mle Joe Bonamassa won't be the next SRV. Neither was Kenny Wayne Shpeherd, nor John Mayer. You guys keep wishing for someone to take Stevie's place. I don't know if Joe will become better than SRV, but due to the passion, the style, the attittude, there has been and there only will be one Stevie Ray Vaughan. No reincarnations. Just licks heritaged...
