    gametabs.net/sonic-and-knuckles/flying-battery-zone-act-1-0

  • Those damn mice!

  • best bass in a sonic song ever

  • sounds better on 240p

  • @bonsushi Hahaha, that's awesome. With 240p it sounds like it did on my TV!

  • When I first beat Sonic and Knuckles with Sonic 3, I went to see the Rugrat's Movie in theaters.

(I'm not kidding, I literally beat it right before we got ready to leave)

    ....then my files got erased...

  • When i first was in this Zone and heard this awesome music i just felt some Epicness chilling on my Spine :D!

  • DAT BASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Either this or Ice Cap Zone should have been in Sonic Generations.

  • @TheGhostofNappa The song is in the game, but the level is unfortunately missing. Hope they add it as free DLC.

  • @Takahashi2212 I doubt it. FBZ was only one of many zones from S3&K and a few other MD games that had some of their music inexplicably included in Generations’ store of files—as not remixes, but rather the exact same MIDIs/whatever but with subtly different instrumentation, probably just because they couldn’t completely replicate the old patches. I don’t think that points to DLC at all. Then again, the question is why they /were/ there. Conspiracy-like, eh?

  • @FuelledByHamish A man can dream, can't he? I don't think Sega will release any DLC for the game at all, but heres hoping Sega will prove me wrong. I also think that this just one big conspiracy, I assumed all the music was from the 3DS version, Like Mushroom Hill because it's in the 3DS version, but this isn't........

  • the part at 00:24 just blasts my childhood back to me

  • bonzão , i love sonic genesis ^^

  • *throw a Battery of the window*

Me: SEE?! IT'S A FLYING BATTERY!

    Everybody else: *facepalm*

  • I wish this zone was in Generations

  • @Vyomesh1984

    Me too...

  • @Vyomesh1984 It actually is, but you have to unlock it.

  • @Vyomesh1984 it was in the rooftop run

  • @Vyomesh1984 Yeah too bad that there's just 3 old zones.

  • @Vyomesh1984 At least we got an homage to it in Rooftop Run, and this theme is in the game.

  • Sonic`s soundtracks kick Mario`s dumb-childish themes ass big time!

  • @koojisaito I agree.

  • this song and many of the sonic songs bring back memories I just cant describe...wow times fly and i miss being a kid and the 90s! Best days ever!

  • 21 People fell off the ship

  • @ProjectXv2 Dont lie; we all did

  • i came here from watchi9ng dome tf2 idle video

  • @teamcinema2 TF2 takes you anywhere, and then you go from anywhere to TF2.

    It really is magical.

  • dat bass

  • my favorite music of this game.. falling off the ship always got me at first :(

  • i cant beat robotropolis on sonic 2.....

i always get fucking interupted and cant finish!

  • you mean metropolis zone?

  • Such a funky beat. Love it.

  • I never got further than the Flying Battery Zone....I'm so ashamed to admit it.

  • @Dark2294 It's okay hun. I was afraid for some odd reason to complete this level when I was little. I used to think that Robotnik with the Death Egg was at the end of the stage... xD

  • @Dark2294 hahaha me too

  • Johnny Juliano - Sky Capitan

    Johnny Juliano dot com

he sampled this, its so fire

  • @FollowtheLight16 Heck I think Flying Battery Zone is better than Ice Cap, it's up there with the Final Boss (the Robotnik/Eggman robot you fight at the end after you beat Death Egg Act 2's first boss) and Doomsday Zone's theme

  • Zona vuelo de la batería < que suena feo traducido xD

  • @spyroG3 En realidad, la traducción correcta es "Zona de la Batería Voladora"

  • @spyroG3

La traduccion seria: "Bateria voladora, zona 1"

  • Is is just me,or 0:01 samples the chorus of"Pretty Fly for a White Guy"by The Offspring?

  • @MrCruiseBlackorby Wrong. Sonic & Knuckles -> 1994, Americana release -> 1998

  • @MrCruiseBlackorby Sonic 3 & Knuckles: 1994 / Pretty Fly (For a White Guy): 1998.

  • awe snapp there are capsules ever where!!!! steps on one O SNAPP RINGS..***stepps on another.. huh its a spring...**steps on one more....AHHHHH BADNICKS!!!

  • This is an impressively technical song for the genesis' sound chip.

  • Fake Animal Pod turns into Mini Egg Boss! >=O Holy cow, hit yourself! BAM! Yeeeeeeah >=D /plays with the twirling picture for a minute/

  • I've always hated this music. I despised it so much because the zone isn't as cool as others, but now that I'm actually taking the time to listen, this music is actually pretty cool >_<

  • Can't touch this

  • STOP! Hammer time!

  • @n1g3ld34c0n Break it down! *Flying Battery solo*

  • @jedihunter176 Oh man, I gotta go listen to that mashup again. So godlike XDD

  • 'Dat bass

  • MC Hammer and Sonic are good friends dontcha know?

  • Finally got a decent remix in, of all places, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

  • Wow listening to all the music in the levels, SEGA really knows how to make great music listen to Streets of Rage 2 music in the Bar.

  • @startup97 right on dude

  • Ahhh this music is so EPIC!!

  • Actually the Flying Battery has a cameo in Rooftop Run Classic level in Generations

  • No sir, they don't make 'em like this anymore...

  • Best song in Sonic history next to Casino!!!

  • @drummr1313 Even counting Crush 40?

  • Mega Man X

  • this stage is energy smart with a epic beat!!

  • Like if you played this game as a child and thought this zone was going to be some sort of giant electrical battery.

  • my favorite music in the entire game! ^^

  • @drayazia Probably my favorite of the series. I hope this level comes to Generations.

  • @VirtuaDrew Well it didn't. Generations id already out if you didn't know.

  • can't touch this

  • Insert 32x into your sega, Sonic 3 into s&k and then s&k into your 32x. And now you TOO can have a foot high sega! Awwwww yeaaaaaah! Nostalgia<3

  • Best music in the game, hands down. :]

  • @infections This music kick ass, but in my opinion, Sandopolis music is better.

  • I was brought here by a Newgrounds chip tune guide!

  • Also there is the James Bond theme, right in the beginning....

  • it sounds like someone is shaking a spray paint can in the background, you know how there is like a little ball in there when you shake them and it makes that noise. If you have headphones on you can hear it

  • I remember this level from being.......3 I now remember which sonic game is was on. I have; SOnic 1,2,3,3dblast,Sonic and knuckles, and sonic spinball.

  • @Mylittleponyisabrony "Sonic 3" and "Sonic and Knuckles" are all 1 game.

  • @Sonic10121 no they're not. Sonic 3 is regular cartridge, and Sonic & Knuckles is an accesory. Adding Sonic 3 gives you Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Trust me, I have a Sega Genesis and both games

  • @Mylittleponyisabrony So you mean you have sonic mega collection? Me too.

  • Energizer's Theme

  • Be honest, who didn't fall off the ship the first time ?

  • @Julienfun

    I did......

    :(

  • @Julienfun i failed the first time when you have to menuver across the platforms on the bottom of the battery

  • @Julienfun me

  • @Julienfun It took me FOREVER to beat this level! Seriously! I had so much fun with this game though.

  • @Julienfun bob saget never did, you fuck

  • @Julienfun me

  • Cool DubStep You Know

  • this music is just absolutly amazing and brings back so many good memories

  • this is my fav stage

  • Every sonic SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF MUSIC not that dumb rock shit they put in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

  • @MrGeassR2 Nah, that was pretty good actually.

  • @vegeta353658 Yea if you like annoying Alternative kiddy garbage.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This track is the SAME of the Shinobi!!

    watch?v=9cAbwchIX80

  • At 00:13, does anyone else hear it saying "Bill! Bullet Bill!" ?

  • that bass line......

  • I'm 23 but dammit I don't care, this makes me feel like an innocent kid again lol.

    SEGA forever man!

  • @ExtremeBogom Whenever I watch these videos, i feel like an adult who missed their childhood. but really I'm almost a teenager, and ppl say i look like an adult, but i disagree

  • @ExtremeBogom Im 23, always old Sonic love.

  • I really love how the 2nd level of this game takes place on huge fucking battlecrusier instead of some stupid temple or water level. You get right into the action again. 10/10

  • I love you uploading these songs sonicKAI but that animation and the 8th second of your videos really is annoying and ruins the flow of the song.

  • @PHILLYCHEESESTEAK26 I would agree with you due to SonicKAI's videos are the only VGM videos that I am not able to listen to straight through without it buffering at 0:08...

  • @JasonBurrows1989 From what I observe, I use 2 different computers and my more powerful one plays through the animation at 0:08 just fine

  • One of my favorite levels and tunes in the game :)

  • crap, scratch that last comment I made, I was talking about sky sanctuary.

  • This level is CONFRMED for generations! Look up: New levels trailer.

  • Obvious James Bond Theme chords....But nonetheless very good Mega Drive Music. YAMAHA 2612 FTW!

  • Find me anything on the SNES that rocks as hard as this. Nothing tops this, or Metropolis, or Mystic Cave, or Hydrocity, or Death Egg, Or Streets of Rage.

  • @DreamMorpheus42 Earthbound's music was awesome. But that's not the point. The point is FLYING BATTERY ZONE.

  • @DreamMorpheus42 Megaman X's music for example...

  • @vera881 Mega Man X would be the 1st exception that pops to mind. The tracks rule, I just think the SNES doesn't get ROCK right. The *synth* guitar just doesn't *pop* enough for me, if that makes sense. The percussion is always muted, everything sounds kinda washed out. The Gen chip is noisy and crisp.

Don't get me wrong, Mega Man X is definitely the most Rockin' soundtrack on the SNES. I just think it would sound *better* with the Gen chipset ;) Heck, Sunsoft did better with the NES chip.

  • @DreamMorpheus42 No the genesis gets the music just right! SNES doesn't really know how to do it. You can't really jam to the SNES music like this can you?

  • Wait ... there is no extended version .. HEY I said wait .. !! FUCK ..

  • Pretty rockin' tune!

  • Goddamnit. What epic shit.

  • 0:25 part, wasnt that melody in the cartoons too? Or am I wrong O__O

  • I loved this boss!!

  • reminds me of Revenge of Shinobi Music - Run or Die

  • this level is full of awesomeness

  • im just glad there are others like me who miss and appreciate the old games we grew up with and will never forget

  • Knuckles battle theme in Sonic Pocket Adventure

  • James Bond as fuck.

  • Working on a "with Lyrics" video for this song. Coming soon...

  • @BoyFromFarEast

LMAO good one! they must have fallen from that bottom place XD!!!!!!!!!

  • Lady Gaga fucks this song up. This is good! My fav zone in S&K!

  • Duracell's Theme

  • sounds better in 240p :)

  • sega, take out sky and but battery IN.

  • I'd really love if they actually put this zone in Generations... It is my all-time favorite level in the Sonic games, seeing it in 3-D and remix music would be amazing!

  • Try playing all the sonic songs' basslines on a real bass guitar. They're all insane. The best part of all the mega-drive's sonic tunes were the fact they relied loads on the bass. The basslines are so technical and amazing lol

  • Might be my single favorite level in any sidescroller... ever. Definately my favorite Sonic Level.

  • this comment is a placeholder

  • I hated flying Battery when i was younger

  • @NDarkstriker not nearly as bad as Hydrocity.

  • Comment removed

  • @ShadowACS i always liked hydrocity myself, it's easy and nice level.. atleast to me :P flying battery can be just.. annoying

  • @metalsonic3333 the problem with Hydrocity is that the whole appeal of the Sonic franchise is speed. And the underwater environment took that away. Though I will say that Flying Battery is pretty annoying as well.

  • @ShadowACS i never really had any slowin down problem with hydrocity. i did on labyrinth zone buuut yeah :P to me, hydrocity is fast fun level, and i don't understand why people hate it. to me, it goes faster than, for example, angel island (meaning and comparing to how many fast parts there is)

  • @ShadowACS Ahhh but diversity was also a huge appeal in the series, i mean all 4 of the early games had similar levels but each were different and fun in their own way, for me the slowest level ever is probably the marble zone on 1 waiting for those silly blocks whilst lava splashed everywhere :P

  • put this in generations!!!!

  • @thebeast13042 It's on the 3DS version.

  • sound like a song you'd play when your running away from something

  • BOTH THE TOP COMMENTS ARE THE SAME. QUICK, DO SOMETHING

  • @RCT3FAN100 hahaha I voted yours up, Im doing what I can goddamnit!

  • @RCT3FAN100 You have now officially done something.

  • @RCT3FAN100 Listen to this music .. everything gonna be Ok .. :D !!

  • @RCT3FAN100 Done! :P

  • @RCT3FAN100 BOOBS !!!

  • fuck yea, nothing will top old games, stuff like this and the n64 are better then todays games

  • @Steelerguy6000 You're right about that. Today's games in general suck. There's barely any creativity as everything's just fancy graphics and voice acting whereas back in the day, developers were limited with hardware so they had to use their imagination to make fun games with great chip music. RIP Games.

  • i like to play this act in the ds at the subway with the volume max.

  • Yeah, I am kinda pissed that sonic music used to be mostly techno, and now it's mostly rock -_- I don't like going fast to rock music!

  • @Balendula

I like the newer Sonic music, it does contain some techno but it also has a lot of soulful rock.

  • robotnik made 17 different accounts just to dislike this.

  • @thas1227 But it's his flying battery zone...

  • I like act 2 better than this one

  • it's a shame more songs didn't use blast processing like this one did

  • @zaelie Ummm whats blast processing? keep hearing it a lot on these sonic vids

  • @gilgammesh1 Ah, kids these days will never understand.

The Genesis was originally made as an NES competitor, and so Nintendo made the SNES, outperforming the Genesis in every way, except for the processor's clock. Sega took advantage of that, and used it in almost every advertising campaign until the mid 90s where the Saturn, N64, and PS1 were out.

  • @mslurr Ahh thanks ^^ I was only 6 when i got my Mega Drive many moons ago thus i dont know the hardware specs etc :)

  • @gilgammesh1 Blast processing is nothing. It's a term made up by Sega's marketing department to make it sound like the Megadrive/Genesis did something super fucking 90's rad, whereas it was just a standard motorola 68k cpu. Whatever anyone else tells you is horseshit.

There are several articles on the net saying "Blast Processing explained" or etc, however these are subtely tongue in cheek and anyone who believes them needs a lesson in satire.

  • back from the days where most things actually ran on battery.... ^^;

  • Fuckin 90, all is in my memory ... Great Game !!!

  • The 90's were the best years

  • I wanted to thumbs up the comment about brining back the 90s, but I didn't want to be the one to take it out of the 90s by being the hundreth, but I concur! Bring back the 1890s!

...No. I jest. The REAL 90s, please.

  • Flying Battery Act 1

*launches off of launcher up a ramp into a loop and runs down grated tube*

  • soooooo good

  • Hope this level is in Generations. Was def one my favorite levels in the entire franchise. Plus one of the best soundtracks (up there with Chemical Plant for sure.)

  • @eternal0star spot on. This is my fav Sonic track, with Chemical Plan as #2

  • if you don't like this song or game, the terrorists win.

  • I'M WANT TO RAVE TO THIS RIGHT NOW1

  • 16 people work for nintendo

  • 0:23

    Epic...Just epic!

  • thumbs if you noticed the subliminal james bond theme in there!

  • mukhang tahong si chimmy

  • sega! please remake the genesis games! please! and make a sonic mega collection ultimate! with all the genesis and CD games and all of the games before 2010! * yes even 06, i KNOW its crap, but a sonic mega collection ultimate will never be ultimate without it, as it is an ultimate FAIL! XD*

  • Dear Sega,

We Demand that Flying Battery Zone be put into Sonic Generations.

  • @willyXIII It's not.
