  • I have no clue where you get the time to do all of this.Keep, it up, though. Your videos are hella informative. You point out flaws effectively. If only American carriers picked up these phones, unfortunately, the majority of America is still stuck in the dark ages. And the iPhone does have a lot going for it in the gaming department. Unfortunately, when the iPhone is upgraded with all the feature it should have always had (mms, AD2P, etc...) people will make a big deal about it, which is sad.

  • Thanks, I get the time by making this part of my 'job', which is why I need either a sponsor or donations. Still haven't nailed the former and I haven't even had a dollar donated in the last 7 days 8-(

  • Hey again steve. Do you know when show 81 will be out?

  • I'm waiting on an NDA to expire, plus a particular video clip. Only a couple more days, hopefully.

  • A couple of days.....I know you're trying but it's been a week steve:(

  • WIll be out on Wednesday afternoon, i.e. tomorrow. 8-)

    AND

I've got a sponsor for the next 2 shows, hopefully. Phew!

  • Would there be any chance that the omnia HD could run anrdoid? I know its a symbian release but I'm leaning towards the samsung i7500 because I have a feling adnriod is going to take off in the next year. Tons of apps. Could symbian run Android on it?

Symbian seems like its dying but the Omnia HD hardware is outstanding!

    which one? i7500 or i8910?

    Cheers,

    Alex

  • Not easily, no. Android will grow, but what makes you think Symbian is dying? It's still the overwhelming market leader in smartphone OS.

  • well its just symbian hasn't been optimized for touch as well as android is. I'm afraid the HD will have the same nokia 5800 problems where the double tap/single tap stuff is fishy.

Android market place is going to grow like crazy with cool games like the apple app store. Plus it feels more open as a platform, and I love the drop down menus. Is symbian really going to run as smoothly on the HD? If so, the hardware is outstanding. Plus will the HD have gaming abilities?

    Thanks again

    cheers

  • You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I'm just saying that writing off Symbian or Nokia is waaayyyyy premature 8-)

Anyway, I'll have the Magic, the Omnia HD, the N97 and the Touch Pro2 all in for review in the next couple of months. It's going to get a bit hectic....

Assuming I can get a sponsor or a few more donations to keep the show going, of course.....

  • dude your last episode made it seen like you wouldn't recommend the omnia hd. Which is at odds with everyone here who is giddy with excitement. Why exactly were you so negative with the phone everyone has put up on a pedestal? Im a normal teenager who is obsessed with that crazy phone.

  • So negative? Eh? I love the Omnia HD too. But I had to point out any flaws, just as I would when doing a review of any device. I'm no 'fan boy' 8-)

  • you're awesome steve, i hope you get a sponsor...

  • God bless ya, I bought a Nokia 5800 with your help!

  • Neither. N82 or Omnia HD.

  • steve innov8 or n86 ? can enybody help me ? :D

  • is there a big difference between n79 and n82?

    n79 is newer

    and which is better?

  • N82 MILES better.

  • hey steve,do u recommend omnia hd for taking photos in the night?

  • Not hugely.... No Xenon.

  • what do u think about Samsung S8300 UltraTouch

  • Steve, you talk a lot about the iphone gaming, and while it seems superb, I can't live without some of the functions that apple just doesn't seem to want to implement, i.e. quality camera, and such. Is N-gage a true rival to the iphone gaming experience? Is there any other phone that comes close?

  • Do what I do. Get a Nokia N82 and an iPod Touch!!!

  • Ah, but there in lies the problem: I am one of those who wants an all in one package. I don't want to carry around a bunch of devices and if I wanted a system just for gaming, then i would buy a Nintendo DS, psp maybe or something. The rub is, no phone or device does it all, not yet.

  • hey steve I'm in a bit of a mixup here

I love the Omnia HD and its hardware is amazing

But will it work on US 3G?

I also like the n97. Not crazy about resistive touch but I love the idea of playing games and emulators with actual buttons to press.

Do you think the Omnia HD will have lots of cool applications to download? n97? I want a great open platform but the iphone data plan is so expensive I'd rather an unlocked one. Palm Pre GSM maybe?

    Plus, doesn't s60 for touchscreen suck? n97 is 5800?

  • You might even be better with a Touch HD from HTC or a US-rebranded version? Sorry, I don't know much about the weird frequencies over in the USA!

  • hi, i heard rumors about a new iphone? HD recording, tons of features, etc, etc... do you know anything about this?

  • And if I knew, do you think I'd be allowed to say? 8-)

  • Hey steve, which pf these phones is better in terms of overall performance

    1.LG Renoir

    2.Sony c905

    3.Nokia N85

or any other phone u've come across.

    thanks in advance

  • C905, but it can't do as much etc, Omnia HD will be king on performance grounds.... Or iPhone, depending on how you measure performance.

  • Great show Steve, Oh and when you play tap tap your supposed to shake when there are arrow not tap on them^.^

  • Oops. Hadn't played the game for a few months - and they go and introduce a new feature! Still a great concept and franchise though.

  • which do you think is better, capasitive touch screen or resistive?-(minus the fact that you're using the 5800, i want your honest opinion)..i use the GPS alot (using a software called GARMIN to be more precise),now,is the compatibility of the omnia HD the same as the nokia n97?can it support the same software?..usually,i'd go for the nokias, but the omnia HD is starting to make me doubt..any ideas which i should buy?

  • steve, ive been watching your reviews since the days of n91 4gigabyte and i must say, your reviews are the best.i am waiting for the n97 and omnia HD.between the two,i love the physical qwerty keyboard that n97 offers, but i also love the OLED screen of the omnia HD.however, the n97 has a camera cover where else the omnia doesnt.futhermore, the built quality of the omnia seems to be much better than the n97...

  • Stella show as usual, Steve! Your opinions are spot-on, and your insight is valuable.

Any comments on the rumours about Nokia placing an order in Taiwan for capacitive screens? An updated 5800XM or N97? Or an entirely new device? Or just hearsay?

  • Hearsay. Don't think it'll happen. Not in the short term anyway.

  • if you have 70000 visitors,

i recommned you usiing google adsense.

youy can earn money with it

    search youtube for more info

  • Can't, effectively. My viewer numbers are 85% direct MP4 downloads. Plus YouTube ads only are allowed if there's no copyright material *whatsoever* in the videos. I do get a few pennies from the AdSense ad besides the embedded video on my 3-Lib server though.

  • nice to see you got yourself a black N82!!

i got mine in august and am still completely in love with it

  • Things keep changing. Will keep you all posted.

  • Nooooooooooo, you cant cancel the phones show!!!

I'm sure you have a pretty large fan base. I dont see why nobody would sponsor you.

Do you ever think nokia will make a qwerty N series without touch screen?

  • Partly the global recession I think. But I've got a few requests out across the mobile world.....

qwerty Nseries without touch? No. Eseries is what you want? E90 is currently the best.

  • thanks for the quick reply.

When do you think you'll have a more hands on preview or review of the n86 or n97?

  • What is your take on dual-led flash vs xenon? I know dual-led is better than single led, but how comparable is dual-led to xenon?

Please keep up the good work! I've enjoyed every single vid you've made since I subscribed. Hopefully you'll get a sponsor soon/hopefully I'll have enough to get around to donating.

  • Thanks. Xenon flash is approx 50 times brighter than normal LED flash and about 25 times brighter than dual LED. But that's not all the issue. There's the timing - Xenon freezes the moment with a flash duration measured in microseconds.

  • is it worth buying samsung omnia hd ?

plz reply to me ... keep doing ur awesome vids

  • Yes, great device. Hoping for stable firmware.... we'll see.....

  • I admit I play a lot but wii level graphics is pushing it a bit:P, maybe PS2 graphics though that is amazing nonetheless. Great show as usual Steve.

By the way, Steve, which would you suggest, buying an N82 or waiting to see what might come up next, I currently have the N85( a gift so can't complain), but it's still rather rough around the edges, maybe I should wait for a firmware update.

  • Wait and get an Omnia HD?

  • I was thinking of something more along the lines of the N86, even if the omnia is extremely tempting, I don't really know if samsung has a counterpart to applications like nokia maps and such, also I doubt Nokia's Ovi services will be available on it, and I've become a bit dependent on them:p.

  • The Omnia HD is quite tempting, though I was thinking of something more along the lines of the n86, mainly beacause of Nokia's Ovi services, which don't really have counterparts on the Omnia HD.

  • "Subtitle text here" lol

Thanx for your new episode =)

  • Argh. Well spotted that man! Must try to do better in future!!!

  • Surely this show is not your actual day job? I'll donate what I can please don't give it up!

  • Yes, it's part of my 'day job' 8-) The other main part is doing some writing for All About Symbian

  • down at the disco?...lol

    showing your age there steve

loved the e75 review but its a bit different to what you said on your podcast i think

    keep up the good work

  • Podcast? You mean the AAS one? I think it's mainly Rafe and Ewan that liked the E75 so much. It's not bad, it's just not as elegant and powerful as I'd hoped it would be.

  • do you think nokia are ever gonna sort out their calendar app. really craving multiple calendars so i can sync liverpools fixture list etc

  • No, I think they'd have done it by now 8-)

  • bit star struck that you actually replied to this personally :-) been listenin to your podcasts etc since the beginning.

i'm pretty much going to buy whatever phone you recommend.

went to see the 5800 on the back of your review of it but i'm afraid my fingers are too fat for the touch type. i guess i could use the stylus but i'm more of a stealth geek than a loud and proud.

still wanna keep the slim suggestion that i'm a streetwise youth

  • That guy has a really strange mouth, sorry it's a bit off topic, and i know you know what i mean Steve JUST LOOK!

i detect a smile! you know it! haha :P

  • @ nokia e 75

For a business-user are the number of keys not a big deal I think. It's a nice phone;)

  • thanks so much for your show. And I really hope a sponsor will pick this up... you're doing an incredible job!

  • After using a touchscreen phone,iPhone, I could never use a phone like the E75. If I were looking for a phone like the E75 I would go for the HTC S710, probably the best battery life I've ever got out of a phone.

  • I didn't know HTC Rose was ridiculed. I know it probably didn't sell well, but god damn HTC Rose is the most beautiful phone HTC has ever manufactured.
