Hey I just bought a new 3TB western digital Elements hardrive, and when I hook it up to my Asus Oplay it comes up with this message: " Device not supported" Does anyone know why this is and if this can be fixed. do you have to update my asus oplay. I bought this 1.5 years ago. Is it out of date or is western digital HD Drive not compatible?
At first i wanted to buy the WD HD Media Player. But the Asus player has one feature that WD hasn't.. it can play .ifo files. This means the Asus player can play DVD menus. This is a huge PLUS for me, because i have a lot of DVD movies on my HardDrive.
If you want to watch DVD movies buy Asus Player!! =)
So this could replace a blue ray DVD player if you have a bunch of saved HD movies from the internet?? My buddy has 900 movies saved to a huge hardrive and said to get one of these to play them. Is that right? If so I will bypass a blue ray player. Thanks!
@cenalle So what if its illegal? My buddy downloaded them and not me. So what do I care. I won't rat him out cause I am his friend afterall. I am not a cop. What are you a cop?. I was just wondering hypothetically if you could do this.
I also happen to have an xbox fully hacked (and a 360 for those kind of videos) and I just bought one o!play r1, I´m just waiting for it and I´ve been reading A LOT. it plays everything! even .rm and .rmvb if you like japanese anime. asus keeps updating it and adding more features. with one firmware they added wireless features, just connect a WLan stick(a,b,g or even N). it reads any mkv you throw at it, even 36 mbps bitrate ones. and it has one ESATA port. no hdmi cable! ha
I am looking to upgrade from my Xbox with XBMC which I have always liked for playing back video, music, & pictures, but it just can't play any video higher than 480p. I have yet to see any of these media hub do half of what XBMC can do for free. The scrapers for downloading banners & info on all commercial media will be missed!
I'm currently trying to decide between this ($79 after mir), the WD HD Live ($110), and the Popcorn Hour A-200 ($179).
Does the O!Play HD or O!Play HD live have the ability to use chapter markers in MKV files? I noticed that the WDTV Live doesn't, and that is what I rip my library to and I skip chapters quite a bit, especially on ripped episodes.
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of buying one of these, but the GUI is horrible. If they could make the music organization somewhat like Mediaportal I'd be all over it.
With an HDMI cable the photographs from my 15 MP camera are awesome. However, if you set the slides up for a two second duration on the screen, they take five seconds...no way to go faster.
The O!play is very buggy right now. Asus support is slow in responding with fixes and updates. In my opinion, the O!play wasn't ready to be released yet and Asus rushed its release for Xmas; essentially using their customers as beta testers.
It's an awesome product when it works and has tons of potential. It's just not up to par yet.

@daviddo02 The WD TV Live Plus can play DVD menus. And with new updated firmware, the WD TV Live (non-Plus) also has this feature.

Night mode is a audio feature, not video. Google it :)
